gryphs went down to geelong and played a praccy match against the belmont lions (2007 gdfl premiers). played 5 qtrs (was originally to be 6 but one less coz of heat), and was a top game, the lions had probably 35 players, gryphs 28. belmont would have finished up by probably somewhere between 2-4 goals, but the gryphs kicked 6-1 in the last. was a good hitout anyway, many a new face down at the gryphs.

Ur surley a mathe-magician not a mathematican. Number G on ur back this year?:D

Any news on the kew/hawthorn game tonight at northcote?

1st 3 was Haw 9 goals to Kew 7

2nd 3 was Haw by lots.

1st 3 was senior players along with guys who have trained, while the 2nd 3 quarters was the rest. Kew played 2 seperate sides whereas Hawthorn had a lot who played in both.

Both were missing a fair number of senior players. Hawthorn had a lot of new players, most of whom were very young and tall.

Williamstown played Prahran down at Ocean Grove. No scores were kept, but it was a pretty even contest. Willy were missing about 8-10 senior players, Prahan close to full strength. Prahran were a little intimidated by Willy's tackling and that caused quite a few turnovers. All of Willy's new players all played well and showed they will be a lot tougher and physical compared to last year. Encouraging signs for the boys down at Willy.

Swinburne have lost Matt Flack to Chelsea Heights (SFL). Hopefully they have picked up some talent from afar, as most Uni sides do from time to time.
Elsternwick have lost quite a few to o/seas etc.from what I hear, Monash have picked up a few good'uns. Hawth have gained a couple of talls, LaTrobe also. Any truth that UHS have had mass retirements?

Williamstown, major front runners at this stage.

Can Confirm from the coaching staff UHS have picked up plenty and expect a top 4 finish.

Skye Bombers (Southern Div 3) Keen as mustard as our game got cancelled due to ground availability. If anyone knows Mudflap let him know he has a PM. Would be great.

Monash will be playing Richmond Central at Victoria Park (Jock McHale Stadium) on Saturday.

Monash havent played there since there 80+ point GF defeat vs Swinburne a few years back, one would hope it will be a little closer this time around.

With rain predicting and on the big ground I would guess low scores will be forthcoming.

Unfortunately all games at Vic Park have been cancelled this weekend
:( Sorry to dissappoint. We were really looking forward to it :(

Great stuff Nikko. I'm sure Boycey et al at Uni High are really stoked to have an ambassador like yourself out there promoting their wonderful club.

I think im with you there Knack - D3 premiers vs. a struggler in D4 in 07. All the best for the cobras, from what i remember they were a good bunch of blokes, is a game like that really a strong indication of where your at.. time will tell i guess.

Noticed on the previous page, Kew vs. UHS at northcote tomorrow, could be very compeditive game

I've already said in the D4 thread that it will be a very understrength OW side, and both sets of blokes will be skipping about like spring lambs for the sheer joy of being able to run about after the pill. I don't think the players are as worried and hung up about it as you guys seem to be.

eltham college lost to mernda (northern footy league div 2) by 2 points. good hitout although 13 missing from last years grand final team...

good hit out yesterday mernda v eltham , fair to say mernda had a heap out as well, i know none of their 5 leaders from last year played and the recruits i wanted to see play were all watching (whats with that ).
anyway eltham had little height and have what looked to me 3 main players - two midfielders 6 and 15 and one way to goal in gerrard .
Gerrard might kick a few but as eltham climb the ladder i am sure a few will set up to run hard off him and get those back going the other way.
will be interesting to see how eltham go as a unit if they lose a few games early.
good luck to both clubs

willy played west brunswick (d4) yesterday, good hitout with a very undermanned willy going down by a goal. west brunswick are far from a d4 side, with a good mix of talls and shorts. will do really well this season. willy lacked in the big man department, especially down back against some huge fwds. but to willys credit, they fought on well, and with some very good senior players to start round 1, they will be up there. players to watch.....matt lishman, much improved young onballer, james wong and david lee up fwd who kicked 7 goals.
