Hello Gents,

I'm back after an extended hiatus.

I am going to miss my fat boy Angelo (No)Pace this season so I will have a few new targets in D3 this season instead.

Some comments for you all to consider...

How many crack deals need to be done in Dandenong by the St Johns team to help pay for the coaches fee?

Will the new fat boy of D3, the Hawks coach, ever smile about ANYTHING. Such a cheery character! Will he ever see his toes again? Will struggle with the losses of some big key names over the summer. It's OK, Jakomos might still save the day (NOT).

Will Power House ever win without the goalkicking machine Edwards? More goals predicted for their Best and Fairest and premiership winner. Watch out Monash and Eltham as his record against those clubs is very good. Former captain is now coach.

Elsternwick will continue to roll out thier tried and true (now tired and true) old timers in a desperate effort to win enough games to get them into the finals where their ageing bodies and poor disciplanary record will see them fail again. Has Wheels retired - let's hope so!

Williamstown have an old style hard nut coach but a bunch of wild party boys. Some major departures may see them struggle again despite them talking it up on here.

Latrobe will be good again except during semester breaks. No commitment from the playing group. Plenty of beer drinking.

Swinburne will rely heavily on Mary Higgins to kick them a winning score but his old and big body will fail again. They have no other scoring option.

Uni High, I just hate Boycey so lets all hope they fail. I think they are going to be out of their depth in D3. If Boyce wasn't around, the club would be liked.

Eltham, the failed finals specialists, will struggle. They always start off like a house on fire but tire of the weekly travel and run out of legs. With a fit young squad they could go OK.

Monash proved last year that they were not up to it but a major influx of new uni recruits will serve them well. The problem is that they are mostly Indians, so their website will be fantastic at least!

Lastly, why does Wafer refer to himself in the third person all the time?

I'm Dee Three, that's my take.

Well we all like him so guess it really doesnt matter if u dont.. Did he pay a free kick against u or something or u just a general all round sook?

Dee Three, you're still the master at stirring the pot. Your only rival is Wafer.

turtles provailed against latrobe in what was a very tight contest all day. turtles just had the legs late in the last. latrobes second ground not as bad as i thought it would be, surface is excellent except for the pitch area which is rock hard...

Ahh, that's some funny stuff. I've played against (or with) all of the clubs mentioned, and couldn't agree more! Boyce may have served Uni High well for 30 years, but he's been a pain in the rectus abdominus for every other club for 32 years.
Similarly, Wheels may have served Elsternwick well for 30 years, but he's been a pain in the rectus abdominus for every other club for 32 years.

It will be interesting to see Roosters adjusted Premiership Market, after St Johns only put away Monash in the final term. A lack of a genuine ruckman will bring the Jocs back to the pack quite a bit.

St John's were lucky to get away with the 4 points on Saturday. Gryphs a side to look out for in 08. Hawthorn to come away with a loss this weekend. What happened to La Trobe?
Anyone know how the new powerhouse recruits went?

powerhouse werent great.dont know who the recruits were, but they seemed to have only 2 good players.their goalkicker edwards is good, but was lucky to get some ordinary free kicks that allowed him to kick 4.other good player was no.1. cant see them doing to much damage this season, maybe 5th or 6th.a bit old and slow.and just coz they were tall, doesnt mean they can play.good win by willy, who didnt have a bench after half time.was elsternwicks win worthy of the result, or was the opposition very ordinary? anyone know?

Nah! Swinny had a lot of blokes away last Sat. Wind blew up every qtr. as 'wick changed ends.Umpires missed a lot of stuff in the stoppages too.Gave silly free kicks. Very lucky to get out of the game with 4 pts.

Nikko,

Obviously 3rd or 4th can still make a grand final by winning the Prelim last I check. The predictions were for the end of 18 rounds!!!

Btown,

My predictions are based on your team being filled with alot of older players who i assumed would be retiring after winning a premiership and we are stronger than last season with our recruitment this year hence my predicitons, obviously this may change as the season progresses as we track the results & form of all the clubs..

Coach, that kid wearing number 4 still playing? The kid with the big nose. Played full back in the Granny last year.

My informants thought along similar lines. Neither side played that well, Swinburne unlucky in some respects but didn't necessarily deserve the 4 points any more than the wicks.

I thought the Wicks won by around 12 goals? Were the published score incorrect?

Won't see many D4 games this year, but as I was in Willy , looked at this game, don't agree with your summary at all, umpiring bordered on pathetic and with three players mauling Eddo , was surprised he didn't get another 13 free kicks, not many scoring shots difference, house very inaccurate, undoubtedly new faces, not teaming well, agree 1, was good, but last year found 2, 11, 5 the keys top their side. Also lost their key ruckman very early. Willy very good in the air and switch play very well, not as good as Westbourne were last year, but will be a handful for a lot of sides, on their paddock.

i wouldnt say he has a big nose, but yeah maso is playing...

Is it true that Turner has left?

Ya get 4 points for the win!
Margin flattering some would say. Both teams may be the easybeats.

Season Odds After Round 1

Team Name: Premership Promotion Top 4 Relegation Spoon
1 Williamstown 2.80 1.30 1.10 21.00 41.00
2 Elsternwick 4.00 2.50 1.40 16.00 36.00
3 St. Johns 6.00 3.00 1.40 16.00 36.00
4 Hawthorn 9.00 4.50 2.20 12.00 26.00
5 Monash Gryphons 16.00 7.00 2.80 5.00 13.00
6 Eltham OC 16.00 7.00 2.60 5.00 13.00
7 Powerhouse 18.00 9.00 2.40 3.80 8.00
8 La Trobe 31.00 14.00 2.90 3.00 3.60
9 UHS-VU 31.00 14.00 3.60 2.20 3.40
10 Swinburne Uni 41.00 18.00 3.60 2.00 3.00

Some interesting results this week, especially the complete failure of La Trobe against Eltham. Are Eltham that good or La Trobe that bad? The result the week before by La Trobe losing to middle of the road D4 club Richmond has me worried about their prospects for the remainder of 08.

The other promoted team, UHS-VU failed to fire and will need to improve after losing to Hawthorn

Willy beat the House as expected, so no great movement there

The Gryphons have come in and St John's drifted despite the result going the other way. A better showing than most though the students capable of and if reports are true that JOC's have no full time ruckman, it will be a huge loss.

A good showing by the Wicks beating Swinburne away a good result for them, every away win counts

are you sure you watched the same game? eddo being mauled? he got beaten 1 on 1 in many occasions by a great fullback.he whinged all day,as did the rest of the side.fought amongst themselves about positions etc.they did not gel at all.as for not teaming well with new faces, what do u say about willy then? 12 new faces that havent played at the club, with 3 more making comebacks from time off.they all teamed well without any probs.yes willy were good in the air,so doesnt say much about p/house then, because they were a lot taller than willy.

That's nice Fosters... outing one of your own?
Loyalty..look it up in your Funk & Wagnell.

UHV-US v LaTROBE...Boyce's bouys will by boy'd by Turtles win at Bunnydoora. Nicko will be bonging-on all week about that!

MONASH GYPHOONS v HAWTHORN...WHAT AN INTERESTING MATCH! Can Freddy match Fatty? I think so. The Glenferrie boys can buy a beer and get on with the season with many questions to answer.

ELTHAM v SWINBURNE...Can Carmello conjure a crew to crush the crustaceans? Crikey! Cannot conceive a clue.

ELSTERNWICK v WILLIAMSTOWN... The boys over the bridge have never tasted the sweetness at mini Sportscover. That taste will elude them this week also. Elsternwick defend their territory like a ferral cat!

POWER HOUSE V St JOHNS... Will go a long way to proving where these clubs are. Can the Jocs hold Eddo? Can the House get it out of the guts?
What a cracker of a match. I can't wait...will be sitting on the fence near Aughtie Drive. Come and say g'day. The beers will be on Richo!
