is anyone else having trouble accessing the VAFA website for results and ladders??

Yes. Would be nice to see the Amateur Footballer online as well, preferably not a week late and with the correct links!

Oh, and McGlede - nobody listens to your witterings about Westbourne, so save your typing fingers.

What did I say about them? Maybe you should ask Old Warrior what I think about Old Westbourne.

The Hawks have apparently two very big ruckman running around, one a former B grade ammo?

I can confirm this (after a painful weekend). One they call 'tower' who mostly played forward but came into the ruck and threw around a few choice sledges along with a decent chunk of weight. The other they called 'pirate' (presumably he either copies DVDs or patrols the high seas searching for booty). Not sure about the playing history of either but they're a pretty handy combination.

ETE : Don't think I will buy the ticket just yet as OW, E-wicks and Hawks look pretty solid and I suggest 'the house' will start to get things together in the next few weeks. That could be your top 4 right there ?

Yes Chimp, it could be the top 4, but I think your mates at La Trobe may feel left out in this discussion, as well as the WB boys. Throw in the rejuvinated Ivanhoe and that may be your top 7!!

ETE - I think my 4 might finish above those 3.
* La Trobe yet to really impress, but not the worst going around
* WB not the start they were after or anyone expected.
* Ivanhoe - one win and two bad losses ( one from an average Kew ) is nothing to get to happy about.

Some good tests this week for those teams ....

Hoe V E-wick - wicks by 5 goals as I think they are 2nd best team in it.
La Trobe V Hawks - hawks 2 goals - that's a big ground at La trobe
WB V the house - crunch time for WB ? ;) House by 2 points.
Kew V Swinney - Swinney to get first win for the year by 13 points
OW V Monash - ouch, ouch, ouch .........100+

Sorry for the error. They are very good, below westbourne the comp looks pretty even. Doesn't matter who you are playing to kick the the scores they have been kicking shows that their fire power is first class. I was sceptical until watching them on saturday.

I'd be interested to hear a quick summary of the OW game as you saw it from a Kew point of view CB?

From an OW perspective .....

Kew jumped us early kicking the first 2 then we kicked next 6. They were very hard at it and intense early but that fell away pretty quickly. Came at us in spurts throughout the game, including kicking the first 3 or so in the last, but just couldnt sustain it for long enough. Horne was damaging with 6 goals, but along with the rest of the midfield just werent accountable enough when we had the ball. Belly was as big as usual, while a young onballer Rhino? was fantastic all day.

OW just had too many avenues to goal, and our half-back line and midfield dominated throughout. A great win for us!

In making the awards on the weekend a Hawks official suggested that LaTrobe's gound was twice as long and twice as wide as the Hawks home patch. Might be a bit of an adjustment to a team who've proven themselves well suited to using the limited space they have available to them.

Hoe Vs Wick - Wicks by a few goals. They don't even have to cross the river.
Uni Vs Hawks - Uni by a goal. Should be a corker.
Q Vs Swines - Home ground advantage will separate 2 even sides. two goals.
OW Vs Gryphs - Will take a lot for the boys from Monash to rein in a careening mob from Trugga. Comfortable win to the home team.

and your side Red Gum ? a points spread? few to come back? and can you hold Edwards?

TIP: The Best way to play Edwards is to make sure that you get under his skin. Also Make sure that you push him into the pockets as he can be wayward especially early.

Well don't say I didn't warn you.....tips to come later in the week after I see my spiritual guru!

Ivanhoe to lose at home by 6 majors - they are slowly improving, but the wicks looked good to me.
La trobe to trouble the Hawthorn outfit on the big ground, but 17 points to the visitors.
Powerhouse to belt Brunswick - 10 goals - get on Powerhouse they can play.
Agree - Swin to beat Kew buy a small margin - 10 points
Old West to continue along the road to flag glory - 145 points!!!

Turbs why dont you come down. You'll get a game in the seniors ;-)

Johnny OTS - maybe ask Champ or Chump to come down he looks like he rates himnself a bit ( from past triumphs ). If they are going that bad they could use an individual superstar like that - no doubt?

Good call Machine. I know a young defender who used speed and reach to hold him quite well last year. Also doesn't like being told he is getting beaten.
With your knowledge you have the makings of a Team of the year defender, when your finished in the ruck of coarse.

Hawthorn seemed quite capable of playing on Big grounds last year as they won all their home games at Glenferrie oval. I know this ain't as big as La Trobe but I wouldn't be suprised if they pushed them the whole way....

Where is Lions Den and all the others having a crack at someone for saying OW will go alright this year....

Seem this forum has a bit of tall poppy syndrome...

Still here big boy. Been busy writing my notes from the OW game. Tough gig being the spy. So many good players, who do you try and stop first?

OW for A grade in 2012. I'm on board

By the sounds of it, anyone that wasn't at the club last year....

And OW woun't be in A grade by 2012... rumour has it the board is submitting a proposal to take up a position in 2009 and jump all other grades.

Even if they are as unbeatable as everyone thinks, they better pray that the drought continues and the clubs around Ballarat teams continue to struggle so the can retain all of their new recruits or it will be a bloody tough year next year.
