Bloke is an absolute f***wit. To everyone who questioned the Hawks umpire for reporting him - sounds like he has been vindicated. How many times does he need to do this before someone king hits him and he cries foul? Can only hope it's sooner rather than later...

Yep, squib of the highest order. The Hawthorn umpire is still a cheat though...

by any chance serpico, are you the fat guy from kew thats was wearing the beanie, walking around trying 2 look important all day. mouthing off when you were 10 goals down at half time in the 1s. say helloo to everyone down in d4 for us next yr

Wonderful comeback. Number 1's indescretion was acceptable as he was one on one with the opposition player so the player he ALLEGEDLY struck saw it coming. Don't have a problem with that. On the the other hand number 5's indesretion was terrible. Struck a player who didn't see it coming and when that player fell to the ground continued to strike him. The player struck was trying to break up fight between 1 and Kew player and ended up spending the night in the Epworth. What a great advertisement for the vafa and the elsternwick club. Besides no.5 they are a great bunch of blokes and the senior game was played in great spirits. Let's not go overboard with mouthing off when down by 10 at half time. Surely someone from the club has to tell him to either pull his head in or 2 tell him to play else where.

If that's the case, Wheels would want to be careful - that would be enough to go to the police about a charge of assualt. Maybe if the tribunal won't deal with him, clubs have to take matters into their own hands. If the police got involved it might even scare the tribunal into doing something....

By the sounds of all that has been going on I think there are several issues to point out :

No.5 for E-wick twos looks to be a repeat offender and should be dealt with by his own club. I know of a club that each year looks at it's whole list and makes a call on players who they feel do not fit what is expected of their club. Three players have been given open transfers since the policy was introduced.

Secondly, if this guy is doing this and the opposing clubs DO NOTHING then they also need to take part blame. The VAFA has a system where incidents can be investigated - should a complaint be made. I am not one for so called 'dobbing' - but if a guy spends a night in hospital - then I think we would all want the offender to be investigated.

Cowards who do this have no place in our sport.

Now sitting on 50/75 for the year, here are my tips for this week

La Trobe to beat WB by 23 points
Elsternwick to beat Kew by 31 points
OW to beat Hawthorn by 36 points
The House to beat Ivanhoe by 8 points
Monash to beat Swinburne by 3 points

Good luck all
3 out of 5 for ETE (53/80). Not a bad call on the monash/swinny game, thanks to my guru. What happened to the boys from out west, bad luck, bad umpiring, wheels falling off at the wrong time of the year??? Any thoughts boys?

As if Elsternwick would have the courage - they actively support this character for 300 games & DO NOTHING! Has he got the Administration bluffed as well - great example for their younger players ..... ???

I may have picked Wheels to be one of the worst characters in D3, but I certainly didn't pick Hawthorn to upset OW.
OW will be better for the loss and will redeem themselves in September - D Lauletta or not.
Champ playing for Ivanhoe? Crikey. They can't be that poorly. Someone must have done their job down back for them to keep everyone's favourite FF to a solitary - no Eddo no house had been suggested, maybe it's worse to have a big target in poor form?
Monash coming good at the right time to throw a spanner in the works as far as West Brunswick is concerned with D3 in 2008, with the pigs struggling a touch even at their concrete & glue oval. La Trobe not in as much control as the final numbers say from all accounts... but a 40 point win is a 40 point win. I'm still of the opinion they won't have much impact in the first month of spring. Two discos short of being a great side.

The two Connors boys not listed in the players on the VAFA site? Injured?

You mean like reporting him? It's been done - tribunal threw it out remember?

Baseball Bat ?

Possibly too kind, but why should anyone be forced down to the level of scum bags like him?

Someone needs to put that bloke back under the rock he crawled out from before he does some real damage to an opponent.

That said, the Kew player who ended up in hospital: I would approach Elsternwick and let them know that you expect them (or the player) to cover the costs of your trip to hospital (and God knows how pricey Epworth is) and if that fails, suggest that you are prepared to go to

a) the media - ammos won't want that bad publicity and nor should Elsternwick; and

b) a solicitor, should they not come to the party

Given VAFA has heard about this bloke 3 times and failed to act, they would be in a very precarious position for not having acted on him sooner.

Until someone does something like this, scum bags like him will be tolerated by clubs and the associations.

The player hit is a nurse at the Epworth so costs isn't an issue. Player escaped with eye still closed and 5 stitches but no structual damage. Whilst as a club we are disappointed with this issue our view is that it is an isolated instance that should be dealt with internally by the club. If an investigation takes place then it is a he said/ she said issue as umpire on the day was handling other spot fires and didn't see incident. Generally a club based suspension will work stronger than an investigation under the amateur auspices. I know that I have been with a club that has handed out in club suspensions before rather than have it handled by the authorities and it has worked well. The whole incident is disappointing considering that our club gave him a guard of honour before he ran onto the ground for his 300th.

Oldtimer - let me get this right. You have one of YOUR players hit, in hospital, physically injured and you are asking Elsternwick to please give him an in-house suspension?

Champ you have been around the ammos long enough to know that investigations are rarely proved unless you have video evidence or someone from opposition or umpires are willing to give evidence. As I said it gets back to he said / she said. We saw what happened with the Hawthorn incident - lots of charges - none proven. Our player may look at other alternatives if Elsternwick don't act.

I agree - very Christian of you to turn the other cheek. This is far too serious for it to be dealt with in-house - the VAFA MUST do something to protect its reputation which is beginning to suffer.

That said, the challenge is out there: Elsternwick - do you have the courage to suspend him and show that your club won't stand for that behaviour? An attack of that severity would warrant a serious suspension - will the club be bold enough to do it? I notice none of their players are on here trying to defend him either...

Sad but true - in part.

Good luck to the bloke who has copped it.

It was a terrible incident with an unfortunate outcome, one that is surely going to be looked at in further detail by the league.
Funny though, how there has been no mention of the choking incident that took place in the one's game? A Kew player applied the sleeper hold to the 'Wicks ruckman and pulled him to the ground despite the 'Wicks trainer trying to drag him away.
Poor form.

What is a trainer doing getting involved in a fight between players.....

Even to break up a fight no officials should get involved between players including trainers coaches waterboys and umpires

There haven't been any open supporters of Elsternwick on Big Footy for quite some time - whls5 excluded.
