Krusty's tips for this week:

Old Westbourne 20.11 (131) to defeat Monash Gryphons 12.8 (80) - Westbourne far too good for a struggling Gryphons side. Conners to kick five.

Elsternwick 14.22 (106) to draw with Ivanhoe 15.16 (106) - Hoes new recruit Jack Aziz to kick a goal after the siren (his sixth of the game) to get his club the two points.

Hawthorn 21.18 (144) to defeat La Trobe University 17.11 (113) - Jackomos to snag seven majors (not hot dogs) as the Hawks sew up second spot.

Powerhouse 11.11 (77) to defeat West Brunswick 10.7 (67) - The house just to do enough, with Edwards booting half his teams score.

Swinburne Uni 24.21 (165) to defeat Kew 4.3 (27) - Higgins to boot 12 majors and send Kew back to D4.

Thoughts?

Another cracker weekend of matches Round 14:

Unlike Mr Cigarette, I was only able to pick 2 winners last round. I find something seriously awry with his uncanny ability to never be wrong.

Old Westbourne over Monash by 15 (Huge danger game for OW, but class will prevail)
Wicks over the Hoes by 6 (Neither team playing well enough to win this let alone feature prominently in Sept)
Hawthorn by 11 over Latrobe (Home ground advantage only reason why you'd pick The Hawks in this one)
Powerhouse by 27 over Westies (Could be a tough side to beat come Sept if Edwards is fully fit)
Swinny by 89 over a hapless Kew (Kew would struggle to win a game in D4 at present)

Good luck to all...

Gusta,

Unfortunatly Pete himself is unable to respond as he has media commitments following his victory in the 'MASTERS OF TIPPING 2007'. He sends his apologies and hopes to be back on board soon.

Nice observation on his previous post. You have highlighted Petes uncanny ability to shake off his tipping opponents with a bit of 'sleuth'. I personally have noted not all of his press releases are endorsed. If u have any queries reguarding his tips please forward all enquires to Phillip Morris, Joyce on the desk will assist u.

Pete`s assistant.
Please pass on my congrats to Pete, he's amazing, we all love him.

My tips this week;

OW to beat Monash by 77 points
Hoes to beat Wicks by 13 points
La Trobe to beat Hawks by 17 points
The House to beat WB by 31 points
Swinny to beat Kew by 52 points

Good luck all, and congrats to Pete on getting another 5 right this week

Well folks its happened again, 5/5 for Pete.

Pete has been a late bloomer in the D3 tipping stakes. His dedication and 'ear to the ground' style of tipping have proved him to be the standout this season.

Eddie the flacid Eagle was in awe on saturday night saying 'The man is uncanny, it must be a sixth sense'. *Please note readers Eddie has had a shocker this season averaging just 2 tips a round.

I managed to grab a few lines from Pete as he glided past at the annual tipping awards. In short he specified that this season of tipping was all hard work and an almighty slog, he has no one to thank but himself. In mentioning his opponents he singled out Eddie and slipped him a pointer, give up, Eddie thanked him for the advice and said he would take it on board.

TIPPERS OF THE YEAR AWARDS.

AWARD FOR MOST OUTSTANDING TIPPER OF THE YEAR - Peter Stuyvesant.

Participation award - Eddie Eagle.
So precisely where did you post your selections last week ***? Under Mum's pillow? Eddie does miss, you never seem to!

OW to beat Monash by 15 goals - no problem here for OW.
Wicks to beat Hoes by 24 points - both teams will be lucky to field 2's teams with the amount of injuries they have.
La Trobe to beat Hawks by 2 points - La Trobe in good form and this will be the real test away from home.
The House to beat WB by 13 points - Edwards to kick enough to pinch the game for Powerhouse.
Swinny to beat Kew by 65 points - Swinny to get back on track.

PRESS RELEASE.

Peter Stuyvesant, our pete will unfortunatly not be able to post his tips for the remainder of the season. European contracts are a rare thing in the tipping world so pete will be heading offshore to enhance his prowess. Asked if he could tip abroad he was certain that only a true tipper is local to the scene with what he called his now famous 'ear to the ground' style.

His final words were to his worthy but not quite there opponent Eddie. 'Keep tipping Ed, lets face it u can only get better'. And with that Pete was whisked off into a tippsters sendoff party attended by a bevy of leggy (female) tipping groupies.

Good luck pete u will be truly missed in our little community.

STATS.

66/70 (94.28% league record)correct tips D3 2007
Season highlights - 2 correctly tipped draws.
- 10 consecutive 5/5 weeks.

Well done Prescious. You're my hero!!!!

Any reports from the games on Saturday? getting close to finals now so surely people have thoughts form each game re protenders and contenders.

Monash were gallant in their narrow lose to OW. Similar to the first time they met monash were very strong on the ball and kept the pressure up all day. Maybe just one or two match winner type players for monash and their season would be right on track. Enjoyed watching the balled fella #4 for monash. good hard honest player.

Good to see a few quality players for OW came back from long term injuries in Collins and Smith.

Again a good turn out in the rooms after the game and monash were a great host. Well done to the boys for buying their opponent a beer after the game.

.

likewise i enjoyed watching the bald guy from OW, 77 i think he was...teared it up early, we had to put a hard tag on him...
was a good game, and pretty spot on with your comment that with 1 or 2 dominant stars the gryphs would have won more games this year...just lacking some cream to go on the cake...
dont think i've seen the caulfield social rooms so full after a game this year either...was a great day

Caught the games at monash on the weekend. My opinion is that there are a number of players in the Monash reserves that would make a big impact their seniors. Number 2, and number 22 spring to mind, and are both very good players who dominate for their side. Its a shame they don't put that telent to use and help their club avoid relegation instead of dominating in a twos team who looks set to miss the finals for the first time in a while.

Patty O - mentions for this round would have to be ..........

* Eddoooooo !!! 7 big ones and are 'the house' in the mix for finals action? Injuries at West Brunny did not help - Haysey a big out and needs to be back soon for the magpies to help avoid relegation.

* The Students out run hawthorn - with some 'big' outs for for the hawks. Where was Collins, Dawson and Jackamos? Ludes another 4 up front and La trobe could still get 2nd spot!

* Kew served it up to the Piggies, but fell short in the end with the 'swines' keeping their finals chances alive and well.

* Important win for Hoes over the E-wicks in what looked to be a last 1/4 shoot out - 17 goals? Big Angelo Pace gets 12 majors and goes to the top of the sharp shooters. Both teams hope for a better run with injuries.

* And the Gryphs push the premiers again - to prove last time was no fluke. OW still doing what they need to and getting the points - Monash not done with yet in D3 ......can they stay up?

Monash to stay up and West to go down with Kew.

monash - i just dont understand how they are in line for relegation.

The draw looks to suit, and i would go as far to say they will win their next 4 games.

If they can keep this form going, wells down back really rebounded well on the weekend and around the packs they whre great.

take nothing away from their crack on sat, watch out teams to face this team, they are on the march!

it seems clear the old westbourne have this competition wrapped up, would anyone like to comment on who they will be playing in the grand final.

Any ideas on who is looking like a competition BnF

OW V ........

* Hawthorn - struggling a little, need big men back, but have the wins on the board at this stage. next two weeks could tell more - 5/1
* Ivanhoe - also struggling at the wrong time of year, though good win on the weekend. big injury problems. will need luck - 10/1
* The Students - moving along nicely, inclusion of youth and some good players recently - 3/1
* Swinney - like it close and tough, bigger grounds don't suit, alot depends on Higgins and fish - 7/1
* The House - also showing some great late season form. Getting players back at right time of year and recent finals winners - if they make it - 7/1
* E-wicks - smashed by injury - will fall short - 15/1

OW V ........

LaTrobe have timed their run to finals well. Real smokey for the Big One! Round 18 should be a doosy. Ivanhoe are relying on pace (sorry,Pace). Twelve majors and handed off a couple more. Missed some sitters from set shots, directly in front! Too much pace & Pace for Hawthorn next week. Have the House left it too late? Saturday will see two mudlark teams battle out that antedeluvian question. Have injuries hit the Hawks at the worst time of the season? Or is pre-finals yips? Can the consistent but unlucky Gryphs win a couple more? Has the injury toll been too much for Elsternwick to remain in contention this late in the season? Have done well despite 10 on average missing from their best list during the season. Gone methinks. West Brunswick suffering too from an 80’s type football season. Wet & slow grounds. Not a happy camp at the moment. Will loose their coach? Kew will cop a lot of flack in D4 when their Two’s win too many. Swinny too far back in the pack to get to Sept. action. Might be just going through the motions till the end.
Finally, any club that fields 4 teams every Saturday should have no excuse for letting sides get close enough to put the wind up them. Will struggle in the finals.

A number of senior players in the Monash reserves? Obviously couldn't help the side score more than 3 goals for the day.

the game was actually very close in the first half and OW had to tag number 2. the margin did not reflect how close the game was. OW twos are very good though and have 9 or 10 players that have played ones in the past years and 3 or 4 who were regulars. thats what happens when you get a major influx of new players.

ahhh... so THAT's what happens. Thanks for clearing that up for us all. I was under the impression that having 9 assistant coaches gave them a strategic advantage, but I was wrong.

This is why this thread is so boring! because people are to busy nit picking at other posts rather than just talking footy matters. You know knackers, the reason we read this thread in the first place!

Was there an official Team of the Half year printed by anyone anywhere? Who's starting to step up that wasn't considered at the half way mark, or who has slipped from the side in peoples opinions?

I think I am still pretty happy with the one I selected a little while back Patty !!
