I had a look at a half of Ivanhoe and West Brunny.

I arrived just before half time to see the home team in a spot of bother - some 4 goals down.

The Hoe boys need to be drug tested, as something in the water at half time must have kicked them into gear. Banged on 6 or 7 in 15 minutes to blow WB out of the water - if not the contest. Some pretty good football from the home team to be honest. Last 1/4 pretty even contest with WB making two challenges before being overrun.
Bit of a sleep in Chimp or had to take the little ones to swim school? Anyway, interested why you haven't become attached to Paceoo like you have Eddo and Higgo? You went on about these two early and not one word about Pace, surely 11 big ones gets you excited??

GC - a few questions.....

How much stock would you put in this weeks rehersal between the students and the hoes? Full teams? smoke and mirrors I would say.

What's your tip for the GF and why?

In my opinion, both teams will field as close to a full strength line up. Both will be tryin to find the right mix come finals and will be looking to gain the psychological edge for the following week.

My pick for finals, OW and the students.

Students will account for the hoe's and 'the pace' who seems to gain a kilo with every goal he kicks. OW easily over hawthorn. Students then over hawthorn in a good hard match.

I almost agree with Crazy bear. hawks out in straight sets, although I think Ivanhoe will make it.

J. Holland to get best on in the GF and Joskun Aziz to kick 6, with Johnny Farnham's Your the voice to be played on no less than 8 occasions that night.

Is that enough detail champ?

Interesting LD - so are you picking Ivanhoe to win it? You have to be joking. OW easy, unless the two Connors boys and Lever don't play, and even then they have enough to win it. Runners up - The mighty Students !!

J Holland - did not see him play on the weekend - but was listed, must have been on the bench? injured again?

Aziz - is he still a chance of playing - rumour is he is out injured?

You have busted me ETE - I have had the big boy in the mix for some time and only now can I come clean and let it rip ..... Paceoooooo !!!!!

I agree with you GC - but not sure about the line ups this week. Disco and Ludes the keys to the Students hopes with some good young talent up from the unders and an ex-B&F just slipping back into the side mid year unnoticed.

Holland came off in the third to do some bicep curls. Without doubt the finest arms in the comp.

As for picking Ivanhoe, Just my opinion Champ.

No problem LD - and that's what this forum is all about - opinions....and we know everyone has them.

I don't have any opinions Champ.

I'm not sold on Ludes - Disco on the other hand has given his fair share of grief up forward and down back over the years. With Pace adding 11kg on the weekend he might be best rested this week to avoid a blow out for the 1st final.
Hawthorn out in straight sets, both them and OW to struggle a tad this week with their minds on bigger things. The team that struggles least will have played in the last D3 game for their opponent until 09. La Trobe to just fall short of Ivanhoe as that magpie goes on to D2.

All makes for a very good finals series I would think - OW for me still - once they get the full side back they have too much class for the other three.

Speaking of OW - where has Patty O gone?

I saw the Hawks v OW match last week and was lucky enough to watch the Hoes whip WB's last week.

A couple of comments:-

1. OW will smash all sides from here on in just with their desire to run off every line and run back even harder when they lose the ball. They are the fittest side in the comp. On the big finals ground, Latrobe might match them but no on else. OW skills are not as clean as earlier in the season but their fitness and willingness to run hard will overpower most sides.

2. Hawks to go out in straight sets. (And this is bad for all the other sides in D2 as they will have to put up with the Hawk clowns for another year. Arrogant to55ers! My sources tell me that Lauletta bombed out in last years finals on the bigger grounds and was smashed in the big one v the House so I expect little impact from him.

3. The Hoes will lose first up in the finals. Not very fit and rely solely on the human souvlaki eating machine Pace for their goals. Let's admit, he is good, but at 1 Big Mac per goal, so would we all! The only way to get him to chase is to stick a free all you can eat meal voucher on the defenders back and he will chase and chase all day!

4. The students are the wild card. They can play well or poorly, depends on who turns up to play. The Lude is overrated and has had only 1 really big game in the last 6 weeks when he snagged a bag against poor opposition. He struggles against class defenders.

5. The Wicks and the House have struggled big time with injuries (especially in the second half of the season) and missed their chances. Eddo missed quite a few but still has the best goals per game average around.

6. Swinburne were always crap with no effective defence and a one dimensional attack.

7. Gryphs and WB to fight it out. Both sides just had no class personnel.

8. Don't underestimate Kew, they really haven't been smashed by any team this season. Competitive but no class. Time to rebuild. They have been stacking their two's since round 5 in their only shot at glory in 2007.

That's my take....I'm Dee Three

We have all missed you Dee Three !!! I agree with most of what you say, but.....

The finals are at Garvey Oval - it's not that big.....and off the four contesting it .....

OW - certs.

Hawks - talls still the key - big mouths or not.

Ludes kicked 7 on saturday...... to go with that 'bag' you speak of (10) and has a nice average for a small forward.

The hoes might put an ' all you can eat voucher' on the ball if it gives the results they are after.......it worked for Plugger Lockett and Piggy Dunstall.

Dee Three

Are you implying that Lee Wells is not a class player at the Monash Gryphons?

He would have to be in the top ten players in D3 I would have thought.

Is that the same Lauletta who kicked 8 in the second semi last season and played the grand final with a torn hammy???

Wells is OK but not a dominant match winner. Unfortunately for the Gryphs, they have had to use him to plug gaps where he is played to save games, not win them. Would be better off if the club had more depth and class around him

Ah D3. Love your work. I reckon you're pretty much on the money here.

Latrobe do appear to have a consistency problem, even within games but if they can put it all together on the day, they are the main team capable of threatening OW.

Ivanhoe play a different style that may be suited to finals footy though so an upset from them would not surprise.

Hawthorn - can't believe they got that far to be honest - huge reliance on their talls as their smalls struggle. Funny to read that Dan's been jumping fences and beating up fans - he's been doing that for years!!!!

Wicks and House and injuries - appears to be an accurate perspective. Having seen the House a bit, they would be disappointed as they have shown in matches and even quarters within matches that they were capable of mixing it with the best.

Good luck to Monash in avoiding relegation - seem to be a good bunch of blokes.

Class players - Irving from WB is pretty good. Krusty re the comment about Wells: yeah classy, but he is slowing down I woulda thought

Boomeroo..who are you? You cant be Lauletta because he can't even add let alone use a compouter...so you must be his "life partner".

My reports tell me that he played OK in the semi final v Eltham who were a second rate side last season. (compared to the House and the Hawks).

The biggest test for any footballer is to perform at the highest level, on the highest stage in the biggest games against the best opposition.

Lauletta FAILED that test last season. In the biggest game of the season. Fact.

Oh...and by the way...you declare yourself to play = you are fit.

Injuries are no excuse Boomeroo.

Anyway, I saw Lauletta jump the fence a few weeks ago. He is a disgrace...and considerably larger than he should be.

He has been following the "Big Ange Pace Diet".

By the way, they had to rebuild the fence!!!

Wells is a gun in D3, definitely top ten. Rutherford is another very good player for Monash. Where is Dooley playing this year?

who else would make up this top ten?

Tough call but I will have a go.

Craig Mahony (Elst)
Mark Whiting (Swin)
Terry Ludeman (Latrobe)
Paul Edwards (P'house)
Angelo Pace (Ivanhoe)
Lee Wells (Mon)
Matthew Higgins (Swin)
Bill Irving (WB)
Brett Connors (OW)
Daniel Lauletta (Hawth)

They are in no particular order, and there were many others who were close to making Krusty's top ten.

interesting no ow players, but two from the fairly average E'wicks and the even worse gryphens... All good players on you list but surely connors from OW must get a run.

Dooley will be back next year. Took a year off for work. He is a super player in this grade. Looking forward to him returning next year.
Also look out for Flowerday back after a knee reconstruction.
