From what i've seen of sth morno this year i would have to say a bloke by the name of Manuel is definately the man to watch. Will be a contender for b&f.

Was visiting friends in Kew on Saturday and stumbled upon the Kew intraclub, I have never seen D4 footy (or D3 for that matter) but they didn't look all that crash hot. I suppose time will tell.

So sorry you were disappointed,One Handed,I will have a chat to the chaps and see if they can put on a better show for you next time:pso sorry D4 footy let you down old thing, better go back up to the alphabets to avoid more pain:rolleyes:

Will have a crack with much guessing from me on others opinions on this forum and word of mouth. Confident with top 3 or 4 and bottom group of selections. Minor finals role open to a handful of teams

West Brunswick
SFX
Mt Lilydale

New to Big Footy and Melbourne. Wondering why all the talk and fuss over West Brunswick?

Surely the other teams have got to be in it. I have heard that Albert Park might be the ones to watch

Thanks nellup that would be much appreciated;), however I wasn't having a crack at the standard of the D4 comp (how can I - I've never seen it), more an observation on the game I witnessed.
Only 2 days to go!!!!!!

Here, here. I have heard that the lads up at Mt Lilydale have had a scorcher of a pre season - could be a dominant force this year.
Then again at this point in time you cant discount anyone can you!! History shows a long list of pre season champions that fail to convert that into the real thing.

One Handed the practice match you witnessed was between Kew Clubbies and a make up of reserves and senior players who might not have played a practice match. All senior players who had played in the 2 practice matches were given the week off.

Although my team has been well up the grades, I have wandered down to plenty of D4 matches over the past 3 -4 years and have been suprised how good the standard has been nearly every time I did.

Guess it depends on the day you turn up. An intra-club is, all things being equal, not an accurate reflection of the standard at any grade level. The footy in 2 days will be like chalk and cheese to what you probably saw on the weekend. I reckon your opinion will have changed in 4 weeks.

Can anyone from Albert Park tell me how Nathan Dallas is going down there? Did he bring many recruits with him?

Should be more than handy in the grade

Which hand do you use more consistantly!!

Not sure where ya get your info from but not a good pre season at all, while we have recuited well, we be at full strength for several weeks due to clearances and other reasons.

All the best to one and all for the up coming season. The Guru's predictions for the year ahead are Albert park and West Brunswick to be streets ahead of the rest of the pack. the other teams might as well start stacking their two's!

Guru Out!

because a team like Kew who didn't even get close to them last yr is considered a finals contender in Divi 4 and there not even close to WB.

Probably due to us having to many passengers last year. I suggest you stay on the southern thread where you do your best work talking yourself up.

Just hope that Albert Park had plenty out on Sat against Moonee Valley otherwise they are in for a long year.

I know a few boys up at MT.LIL, and they also tell me the injury list is already a bit high! Great bunch of people and I wish them all the best for the season. Tough game first up from whats going around about W.B.

Richmond has its first three games at home this season... I don't know whether thats good or bad...?

What's the go with country club holding out on clearances? Is it just to the VAFA or does everyone have trouble with it? I know of at least 5 clearances that have been pending or rejected for country kids trying to play at 2 VAFA clubs.

Most of the country clubs always reject the first clearance request as they hope that they might be able to keep the services of that particular player. Some of the small towns just don't have enough players to fill there 1s 2s and junior sides wheater they be under 17s or under 18s plus the under 14s.

With the pending request the country clubs have a 21 day window were they can let it sit (hoping a player can change his mind) and stay, wereas all legues down here in melbourne have a 14 day window.

I hope this helps.:thumbsu:

Peter P...if the league players are transfering from are not on line with the VAFA software database it can take another week or so to process. A number of country clubs that we are dealing with don't wont to lose players because their also struggling big time with numbers.

surely however, if a bloke moves towns, to about 150kms away, they cant expect them to come back to play, i mean even if they are struggling 4 numbers, just having a name on a list and stopping them from playing elsewhere wont help their team for numbers, would it?

In that scenario your right, were finding with leagues like YVMDFL which central to the east/south east subs that they don't want their players to leave.

But what if they offer fuel money and and a couple of bucks for beers on a saturday night. Might be worth it..??

You will find that there are a heap of players doing a lot of traveling from melbourne to the GV or up to bendigo or such.

But if your just a kicker more than likey they will just clear you.
