Not a love....a respect.

It is great to see that so many who play have obviously NEVER made a wrong decision in their playing days (Gone for goal instead of centering the ball, poor kicks, bad handballs etc etc)

There is no difference between an umpire and player when it comes to making decisions and for CLUBS to dis-respect the umpires shows a dis-respect for our game and league. WHOEVER the club is that didn't give an escort, stuffed around with correct umpire uniforms etc should be disciplined, and harshly. The last thing we need is umpires dropping off because of stupidity.

THAT crap would never happen at centrals or any other decent club. Poor form shown by whomever.....

As for Ab Park ressies.....can anyone tell me how as a coach you can have 19 players on the ground and call that a mistake????

Surely its not possible..................

Obvioulsy too many players stayed on the field after half time. You'd think you'd notice the guy missing from the bench, but in the heat of the moment I can see it happening for a few minutes (it was about 5 mins before we picked up on it?)... At any rate, it will be interesting to see what the VAFA does about their score. Some are suggesting that their score for the match be returned to zero... others say just their score in the third quarter to that point (which was zero, so no difference). It's a weird one. Not that I care for AP to lose all their points, but it doesn't make sense to only take away the 3rd quarter points, they may have had 19 players on the field for the whole game for what anyone knows? Though I severely doubt that.

The rule that you'd lose all of your points from a game was changed a few years ago. You now just lose your points from that quarter up until the point it is identified.

This is not the first time Ap have done that. In the last quarter of a senior match 2 years back, our captain called for a head count. AP was supposed to have 17 on the ground (due to a send off in the thrid quarter) but played the first 10 mins of the last with 18.

If it was written up in the paperwork & received by the VAFA - A Park will receive a small fine - more bottles of red at half time at VAFA Headquarters!

Which I means that it is up to each team to keep track of the opposition's numbers... Which is fair enough I guess.

You've gotta learn to relax a little!
Are you NELL-UP's Son maybe?

Oh Nellup, more controversy at your game. Suprise surprise!!! Perhaps not time to just give up the forum but also scumpiring along with it!!! Maybe get a new job as lost property officer at a local club. You seem quite good at finding white jackets and it may extend to other forms of apparrel. You could have a real gift for lost property!!

We don't know - maybe Nelly does have a few love children running around in D4 ammos.... Unlikely with his knees, absence of hair & choice of clothing on a Saturday during winter. However, you just never know!!! :D

*Warning Post Contains Umpire Talk *

Hi All,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I was at the syndal vs box hill game doing some recon and witnessed the most disgusting umpiring performance you could imagine. I hope we don't get those two this week as they are the worst I have ever seen.

I think you should relax champ, Do you ever have a bit of a think about the repercussions of having fewer blokes willing to don the whites because of punters like you.

I'll put it simply for you and your other umpire bashing mates (apologies to the others on this board, who possess a little common sense).

Constant umpire abuse = less people willing to do it= limited umpires= less to choose fom=poorer quality and policing of games.

Or alternatively less umpires= bigger incentives & wages to attract umps= bigger registration and playing fees without the guarantee that the standard will be any better.

Try consider these things mate before you get stuck into the blokes making it possible for us to have a run around each week. love them or hate them, we need them so respect them.

It's a fact that umpire numbers are dwindling, it's time clubs took more responsibility in making life easier for them.

Oh No, He's back!
If you look back you would see that I agree!
Just having a a little dig should'nt be a problem, a bit of toungue an cheek as it would be. Stating the obvious (which you are very good at) is a waste of your energy i would think. But thats the good thing about the forum, everyone gets a say whether they are right or wrong. So keep up all the positives and even a few negatives!

Frustrating at times yes, even the pro's at AFL level confuse us, but as stated before the majority of umps like Nelly and the two we had Saturday are trying to put something back to the game, for that I admire them.....:thumbsu: no one wants to get to a situation where club umpires are also doing senior games.

19 men of the field, happened to me numerous times, generally players are not listening to team being read out at the break...was on the ground but starting on the bench, you look around to find you're one interchnage short and panic sets in....drag the closest player, and yes very embarressing for the coach

19 men on the ground, what is the home teams interchange steward doing? It should be easily picked up if people are doing there job.

Good call Manny. Imagine having the current crop of ressies ups doing the seniors. (Although there are a few that with more coaching would be really good - Nth Brunny, Waz, Eley Park and a few) but we don't ever want to get to that situation.

As for 19 on the field....fair enough. It hasn't happened to me.....YET!

I understand you point of view Manny and I am grateful for the service that we are provided by these guys BUT
the 2 guys you had vs Box Hill were dangerous!

I assure you at some stage this year those 2 will be the root cause of an all in brawl due to their gerenal incompetance and lack of respect for the players.
