Lakey - you're worried about a year.... Doesn't your wife remind you of things a lot further in the past than that?!!!:D

Most of us have done things that we're not super proud of on the footy field. Most of us have also moved on after we've shaken hands, or with a beer & a laugh after the game.:thumbsu:

Ha ha...yes she does...but I tell her the same thing I guess....then she tells me again. SO I shut up!

And definatly, you shake hands after the game.....have a beer (If they are still there) and get on the next week.......

Onwards and upwards

Its great to see that there are so many perfect people out there who never make mistakes or do the wrong thing.

Unfortunatly, I do live in the real world (Where political correctness and all that crap doesn't really come into it) where not everything goes according to plan. Frustrations creep in and regardless of what has been written, or excuses are offered mistakes are made that are later regretted.

A good part about this is being able to move on with life and learn and go forward.

If crap like this is going to be brought up a year after the event, then what can i say other than get over it!

From reading back over the posts it looks like you, Lakey who brought it up???? Sounds like the other side has moved on and up.

The Pro's "questions to be asked for round 4"

Can St Francis win 4 in a row and bring Richmond back to the field?

Will the Cobras notch up their first win against their old coach?

When will South Mornington play a side with W in the win colum?

Can Albert Park get within 15 goals of West Brunswick?

Can Syndal trouble Kew at home?

Can Box Hill North beat the Mountain Men?

what do you think numb nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the enlightening response.

There are 12 teams in D4 Genius! That means that you don't play some teams twice. As far as I know the first 7 rounds are not repeated in rounds 12-18.

11 - Once Per Team
11 - 3 (SFX, WB, Kew)
8 - 7 games (Rounds 12-18)

Meaning they play another team once which could be STH, BC, NB or Eley.

I think the draw is all messed around now RM. For instance NB played RC in Round 1 - but not again after that.

Looks like we have established the South Mornington have the 'easiest' draw on paper. However they do have to deal with the travel for away games which would be hell.

Who has the hardest draw? Does anyone have SFX, WB and Kew twice?

Re: *Warning Post Contains Umpire Talk *

Mr F.....

What were the qualities that were missing from your umpiring?? You said you stuck it out for 6 games & couldn't handle it??

Not quite sure where you are going with this and what you point is but I will answer anyway.

I did not have alot of criticism from opposition players or supporters but I coped a fair bit from my own. I played footy with some of these players for years and all of a sudden I was the enemy. I will admit I did not enjoy it and could have had thicker skin. I never really had any enemies at the club and was pretty good mates with most people there. Once I started to umpire I felt like I was on the outer. I would pay decisions against players from my own club and they would go through you like a ton of bricks only to admit later(in some cases) that I had made the correct decision. No doubt as ring in umpire I made mistakes but one thing I can say was I not once deliberately paid a decision in order to favour our side and I suspect this had something to do with treatment I got from my own. I saw a different side of people out there and I did not like it. I understand it was just in the heat of the moment but it was not fun and as I was at an age where I was still young enough to play I decided that I would rather be out there having a kick instead of being kicked so to speak . Like I have said it is one of the most character building things I have done, I did not do it because i thought I would be good at it but I consider myself a pretty honest person and thought it was important that the person doing it was honest and unbiased. Also at that stage the club needed someone and I felt like a bit of a break from playing.

If I did it now I reckon I would handle it alot better(thicker skin these days) although its not that enjoyable so I doubt I ever will.

I reckon it would be alot easier to do it if you did not know the players very well because as I said I never had issues with opposing players.

Have you ever tried it?

Is this about the fact that I bagged Tony Boyce? If so my criticism of Boyce is as a person and does not have alot to do with his umpiring.

North Brunny has the hardest draw.
We only play teams above us on the ladder.

In order.
SFX can win 4 in a row, however RC are much improved and a very interesting game.
Cobras and NB flip of the coin.
SM to keep rolling? They should keep the momentum going..
Falcons no ceratainties to get within 15 goals of WB. 10 to 12 more likely.
Syndal cannot trouble Kew at home. 10 to 12 goal job it looks.
Box Hill cannot trouble let alone beat the Mountainmen.

They have the dream draw. Only play Kew, WB and St Francis once.

You will find that SM do play SFX twice!!

My guesses this week

SFX v RC - We will welcome RC to Beaccy. RC have been in there comfort zone (KB Reserve) for 3 weeks. I think the interstate trip will be to much for RC (Hopefully for us, anyway)

BC v NB - Prob BC, But who knows?? Its for the D'Angelo Cup!!

SM v EP - I think EP will get there first W for the year. If they can just put 4 qtrs together

AP v WB - WB

Kew v STH - Kew will be too strong.

BHN v ML - Ye the Mountainmen in this one. Not sure about BHN??

Sounds like Boycey & you clashed at a club level - I'm guessing you might know him outside of football?

I complained about this when the "Draft draw" was replaced with the final draw... We went from playing all the bottom teams twice to playing all the top teams twice... WB, SFX, Kew, ML, AP, BHN, SM.... There's no point complaining now, we just have to win the big games during the season!
