ppl were giving albert park a wrap for getting close to west brunswick last wk, yet they lose to the cobras comprehensingly... are the cobra's once again a team to worried about or did AP have a shocker? very interesting result! sharp work by the cobra's! also kew knocked off SFX... interesting what a few posters on this forum have to say! how do the top 3 or 4 rate compared to the top 3 last yr (eltham, UHS and st marys)?

too good unfortunately skills were phenomenal, fast and big. hard combo to match. They also play their ground exceptionally well, looking forward to another battle at home with some players back in the mix. both sides apparently undermanned yesterday (Kew missing full forward) so far from an excuse.Beaten by a sharper outfit.

Sharp work by the Cobras indeed. The standard answer seems to fit well here - they wanted it more, played better and looked like they were a miles better team than AP. AP certainly didn't come to play... but were alright in patches, and soundly put back in their place. The punters would have cleaned up with the odds I would have put on the Cobras

After the weekends results the top 4 looks as though it is taking shape

West Brunswick
Kew
SFX
Mount Lilydale

5th spot between
Richmond
BoxHill Northh
South Mornington
Albert Park
Bulleen

Start planning for next year
Eley Park
Syndal
North Brunswick

i think you'll find richmond is in 4th place! :)

WB 25 goal+ victors today. Full credit to NB and Moose a marvel down back.
Billly Irving rucking better then Adam Goodes and ably assisted by Gally.
Solid team effort from WB and the vets continue to lead the way, Layley ever reliable, Lehmann (huge snap in last term reminiscent of '03) and general good teamwork. Forget the scoreline and NB fought admirably and played in top spirit. Plaudits looking ahead with younger players developing at NB.

Good post mate. It's pretty hard getting across to people that we 'weren't THAT bad" yet only kicked one goal! The spirit from the boys was great - but the opposition was too big, strong and talented really.

I don't imagine anyone will get near Bill Irving all year. he's the best footballer I've seen in D4 - certainly the 'Adam Goodes' of the comp . Bar none. Credit to the West Brunswick boys who are really good blokes, will win the flag, and have tap beer in their clubrooms.

Good to see an (unexpected) brief highlight of the game on Channel 7 Saturday night!

So I gather Irving has been playing in the Ruck.

BHN this week... We're looking for some revenge after last years loss at Punt Rd. Hopefully the rain stays away this year ;)

He took a few centre bounces I think- but not many really. More just on ball and then 'rested' at CHF/HFF.

I was unlucky enough to man him up for 10 mins or so when he was 'resting up forward' and the bloke is terrific. Just works and works, is maybe 6"3, jumps high, and uses it well.

Far too good for D4. Their CHF "Suddy" is massive and has a big running capacity too.

They're a good team.

Well they were unlucky to be relegated... I wonder how many players they picked up this year, or whether the same core players are just too strong for D4!

Dunno mate - but their 2's team probably had 8 players who would play ones at any other club. (Excluding Kew and SFX who I haven't seen or played yet - so not sure there).

They must grow them taller in West Brunswick than they do just North of there!!

Hmmm... it was surprising to see NB's ressies get smashed. Usually a pretty strong unit?

Bulleen were really disappointed not to beat NB in the 2's last week. I don't know if Taxi retired or not (told us it was his last game), but they weren't as strong as in past years.

The ressies got smashed against BHN when a bit undermanned.
Had a few back when we played you....

On the weekend it was our strongest 2's 22 so far this year I'd say.

Take what you will from that.

Taxi 'retired'....only for his clearance form to be lodged within 3 days to Hadfield. His absence won't affect the 2's finals aspirations.

After playing top three teams last year I would have to say that West.Brun would have probably won against any of them, but not easily probably by a couple goals! I think S.F.X and Kew would be around PAR with them!
