My Tips
Bulleen to beat North Brunny by 1 goal.
South Morn to continue their run with a 2 goal win over Eley park.
Mt Lilydale to flog Box Hill by 12 goals.
West Brunswick to continue the domination with a 10 goal win over Albert park.
SFX to hand Richmond another narrow loss.
Kew to continue the misery of Syndal with a 16 goal massacre.

Bulleen seem to have been putting up better numbers than NB. BC

South Morn have had it pretty easy so far... They have richmond to worry about next week so I figure they blow this one! EP

BHN will show they are still in the mix over ML. BHN

West B are unstoppable. UHS wasn't flogging sides like that last year were they? WB

Richmond play away for the first time this year, and what a road trip. SFX are definately as good as advertised, but Richmond are stinging from a narrow home loss. Should be close.

Kew will pump syndal.

Waz I have a question for you.

Will any team have the height to compete with WB?

I hear that RC are massive and young. Most of the other teams I have seen have old slow big men.

Kew definitely had the height to match WB, our backs matched up really well as WB key forwards only kicked 3 between them.

It was WB' midfield and backline run that killed us!!

AP were about the same height as us, but we probably had more weight around the ground. So we'll see how they go on Saturday against WB.

Re: *Warning Post Contains Umpire Talk *

I understand you point of view Manny and I am grateful for the service that we are provided by these guys BUT
the 2 guys you had vs Box Hill were dangerous!

I assure you at some stage this year those 2 will be the root cause of an all in brawl due to their gerenal incompetance and lack of respect for the players.

I know Its not a popular point of view but I simply cannot ever except that no matter how poor an umpires performance is that they could be blamed for a brawl. Its a classic case of people externalising for there own actions.

What you are in effect saying is that I can play footy have quite a bit go against me feel as though I am not being protected and out of frustration belt someone and then say "Its the umpires fault"

I appreciate that some umpires struggle to handle difficult situations but if a brawl starts it is only ever the fault of a player.

People choose the way the react to umpiring, even if it is an incorrect decision they have the choice and if they are smart would cop it on the chin. I have seen hundreds of games of footy at many levels and I still cannot remember an umpire changing their decision nor am I yet to see an umpire throw a punch or be involved in a brawl.

All you need to do is read this and every other board to understand that views on umpiring are very subjective. You get someone from 1 team come on and say they were hard done by only to get another person from the other side say they were hard done by. The fact is that most of us are incredibly biased towards our own side and do not have very balanced opinions. Its a bloody hard game to umpiresand while I have encounted the odd nob umpiring(normally the ones with big egos) I have no doubt that most if not all call it as they see it. People make out that umps deliberatly make poor decisions which is just BullSh1t. It is the hardest game in the world to umpire because its so bloody grey. AFL umps struggle to make the right decision all the time. This is D4 ammos people and you should all be grateful you have umpires. As others have said if this keeps ump there won't be any umps and therefore no footy.

Valid points Antsman.

I think what others are trying to say, is that if a team is going to throw cheap shots or punches, and the opposing team is restrained and waiting for the umpire to take control of the situation, if this does not happen, then the punched up team will not lie down and cop it all day.

Sometimes you have to make a stand.

Now if the umpires had control of the situation, this could be avoided with cards and free kicks.

I think that is what they are trying to say. Maybe?

I hear what you are saying. I guess my response to that would be that the playings throwing cheap shots would be far more responsible than the actual umps. Yes good umpiring may help it not get out of hand but some people on this site(Im not talking about the post I replied to before) have flat out said Umps cause brawls which I think is a croc. Good umpiring can prevent them but IMO they dont actually cause them. Fact is if I was still playing I would rather have an ump thats not much chop than no ump at all.

A brain melt? Nah, i am just a prick......

Lakey,

took a little time to work this out .... At our ground last year, 1st Q you were the bloke who nailed our back pocket with the late elbow to the back of the head (kid taken off concussed) ... Ump Boyce caught you cold .... you pleaded with him it was an accident (late high elbow .. puff puff) & begged not to be reported ... as you were the captain if memory serves me right ... warning but no report!!!!! I was standing right there & heard it all.
Later just on half time a "gathering occured" - big blue - Same umpire Boyce who wasn't anywhere near it ended up sending the f/f off from UHS FOR THE GAME .. send him packing from the ground in his car (he never played again) UHS played with 17 for the rest of the game ---- The RC umpire was out of his depth & Boycey calmed it all down. Hardly the move of a cheat.
Lakey you were the one taking cheap shots in both games - poor form for the skipper. Worst still you bag him - just does not add up!!!!

Mr F.....

What were the qualities that were missing from your umpiring?? You said you stuck it out for 6 games & couldn't handle it??

Sounds about right... Except you forgot to mention that the UHS player took a flying Kung Foo kick at our full back when he had his back to him! :)

It sounds like some of these blokes need to take chill pill. Its not professional football and most of us blokes just love playing footy and having a beer after the game and then talking some more about the great game. :D If your losing the plot in this sort of comp you need to get a brain scan. (Bad umpires or not.)

Can't argue with that, except that regardless of what happened that day....he still is a cheat and I still am a thug (and the player wasn't concussed, I didn't connect thoroughly....your just being full of sh!t).....deal with it!

Its great to see that there are so many perfect people out there who never make mistakes or do the wrong thing.

Unfortunatly, I do live in the real world (Where political correctness and all that crap doesn't really come into it) where not everything goes according to plan. Frustrations creep in and regardless of what has been written, or excuses are offered mistakes are made that are later regretted.

A good part about this is being able to move on with life and learn and go forward.

If crap like this is going to be brought up a year after the event, then what can i say other than get over it!

Lakey - you're worried about a year.... Doesn't your wife remind you of things a lot further in the past than that?!!!:D

Most of us have done things that we're not super proud of on the footy field. Most of us have also moved on after we've shaken hands, or with a beer & a laugh after the game.:thumbsu:
