Sounds like you've got some mixed emotions on the topic.

There's nothing you can do about people posing as representatives from your club. If I were to go to the cleaners on North Brunswick's efforts on the weekend, and casually mention Mr Horne didn't play for "us", I'm sure Crazybear would be displeased but could do no more than argue my comments.

Similarly, it's not hard to rabbit on about missed opportunities by "our" Albert Park forwards (they kicked 12.19) and how Syndal went the biff behind play, drank their own grog, didn't shake hands with everyone else at the ground, spectators included, and how the umpires were terrible. Granted though that the last point is just like death and taxes.

Probably taking this the wrong way (if so and these comments were made tongue firmly in cheek apologies) but i'm totally confused, i missed the original post about this and am far too lazy to go back to find it, Syndal didn't go the biff behind play, i dont even know where to start with why thats wrong, cant speak for the grog issue, didn't see it, but would find it hard to believe considering all D4 clubs rely on a bit of coin over the bar, and shaking hands with the rivals is definately something we pride ourselves on, it's D4 footy were not here to make enemies and every game is not a life and death contest, were all playing for a bit of fun on Saturday arvo so maybe we should get back to whats important, the footy. We all love abit of gossip but it's clearly gotten out of hand on here in the last week, think the break may have come at the perfect time.

I think PP was just pointing out how easy it is to pretend you're from any given club, make a general comment based on the VAFA website and then slag off your target.

It hasn't gotten out of hand on here. It has just got interesting. This is better than reading the love-in crap where everyone says how nice everyone else is.

There's no original post about Syndal going the biff behind play because PP was just using you as an example.

Although if Syndal were to go the biff it would probably be done behind play because results would imply there a fair way behind the play in most games.

Hey Phantom, you should not take anything on this forum seriously. Most of it is just Sh.t stirrers that dont even play the game and get there kicks out of having a dig!!

And yes, it is D4 footy, we play the game cause we love it, enjoy being around mates, otherwise we would all be chasing the coin and playing for the money! Which I might add, there are a good few that could play for the cash!!

Taskmaster,
What sort of coin could a genuine superstar like yourself command on the open market?

Fair enough, yeh we havent won a thing yet but wouldn't say were that far off, lost two games by big margins (against very good sides) have been very competitive in most others. To answer someones question from the other day i believe that the cisco kid is 23 however im not 100%

From my research he is 23 in October.

Led for all but the first 3 and last 2 minutes against the centrals... ouch.

What's in your head? Some sort of brain?

The vast, VAST majority of posts on here are about slagging off on the few sh!t stirrers. Next in frequency are posts about shaking hands, being great mates, hard but fair contests, improving as the season goes on and enjoying yourself by putting money over someone else's bar - (and assorted other 'best league in the world' stuff). Then, coming in a distant third, is the anonymous sledging from people who were 'in the area and just happened to see a bit of a game'.

That's how I see it anyway.

I beleive the cia are now using this thread as a new torture tool whereby they are making insurgents read it for hours on end, is breaking some of osama's men particularly his forwards ( we all know fwds are weak)
Time for a serious question?
do you have sisters - joking of course
west brunswick seem to be all mighty so far.
Lets see if we can break them down - how do you beat them ?
My theory is that they rely heavily on their on ballers and like to run fwd from the stoppages if you can get enough numbers at the contest you could deprive them of this and at worst put maximum pressure on their ball carriers making them kick the ball long, combine this with your best marking on baller dropping back across half back to assist in the long ball in ( hurried long kicks from the pressure up field) , this would lead you to having to hit them on the counter attack with some speedy fwds.
Possibly this could lower their high scoring which they like to do and that can sometimes lower the confidence and rattle the cages of sides that like to be free scoring maybe win it 13 or so to 10.
anythoughts ?
Other ideas ?

Dominating the Ruck will give you the best chance to beat WB. Give your own on ballers first look at the footy will also put the WB on the defensive.

I won't be enjoying it ... I hate byes! Bring on the 14th!

Fair call.......apparently, I will be going shopping and "doing" lunch. Can someone please explain what that means? Why can't i eat it like normal people. I guess the break provides anopportunity for us married blokes to pay for our season!

What did AP do when they got so close? They are a few good players down at the moment, and were a couple short when they played them. Be interesting to hear from their contacts.

Kicking it long wouldn't be a problem for the World Beaters - unless you've got a gun couple of defenders who can beat their tall timber up forward. They've been alright in aerial contests so far it would seem - took care of Kew's good defence alright a few weeks back, and I hear they made easy work of Mt Lilydale who weren't exactly short either.

Maximum pressure on the ball carrier (like wearing tight jocks) is sound advice to beat any team.

Best marking on baller playing defensively isn't such a bad idea either. Would a good marking on baller in D4 have the discipline to change the way they play though? If so then it could be the key. Who are you? Kevin Sheedy?

In their first 7 games WB played 5 at home and 2 "away." Both away games were really at neutral venues (Sportscover in rnd1 and AP's alternate ground).
On the smaller ground they got over a midtable team by about 3 goals. On Sportscover and there own ground they have scored freely.

Read in to that what you will but maybe locking down their mdifielders and runners would be a strating point. How?

The Son of God can't get out of their 2s FFS!

Fair point ruck machine but that is my point that their on ballers are one of their strengths and that they need to be nullified.
Take away their ruck man by making him hit it to a high traffic congested situation, stating the obvious that you must have a player clearly defensive side to mop up any big hits fwd.
As for around the ground if he drops back into your fwd half push your on half fwds up the ground congesting the wings and make him stand further up the ground ie make the whole 70 yard out not 30.
These half fwds should be your quickest players as it will be a foot race forward.
All this relies on your players having the temprement to play a game that may largely be played in the middle or even in your own backhalf this making the decesion when to attack and when to control the ball .
This might mean that when you cannot immediately play on that all players in your defensive half push fwd of the ball allowing an on baler to drop back and take easy posession to maintain posession and have a number of your players push up close to the ball and have your defenders running forward hoping to catch out a lazy west brunny backman.
Add into this a wingman who likes to cheat and get him to push back across half back any time the ball is coming fwd slowly and get him to cross the ground behind the ball and then push fwd deep into your fwd line hopefully whilst his player remains on the other side of the ground .
Fwds push away from this wingman and you have space.
