D4 dominated the tribunal this week:

Paul Hildebrand, Swinburne University. Striking, 4 matches.

Daniel Lyne, Albert Park. Failed to appear, 1 match.

*Cameron Liston, Box Hill North. Striking, 2 matches.

*Lachlan McFadzean, La Trobe University. Striking, 2 matches

You can also add another case from d4 from the previous week when another LaTrobe player was up - he got off!
Interestingly it was a report of a player striking a tagger and reports indicate that the tribunal thought that as the tagger was being a pest he instigated the LaTrobe player to strike him, and as such got off. A quote from the hearing...
"AFL has a lot to answer for this stuff", then one of them looked at me and said "next time we may try and find grounds to suspend you if that nonsense happens"

Does this sound strange to anyone else?

And please don't read into this that i think he shouldn't have got off - i actually thought it was a pretty soft report having seen the incident.

There was also a report made in the NB RC game this past weekend but it was thrown out before reaching the tribunal.

I haven't had to go to a tribunal in my time at RC... touch wood...

Will miss RC next weekend... spewing! The Cups are at stake!

Give us a breakdown Cam. Did you let him have it?

Very disappointed I'll be missing the RC game.

Breakdown - He hit me in the stomach after a ruck contest, I remonstrated, he belted me in the eye, I punched him in the head ... fight over. Both red carded and reported.

I mustn't have seen anyone being reported - was that the seniors or reserves?

Am I reading this right? The VAFA are condoning the striking of a player because his opponent was being "a pest"? That is beyond nuts. There is NO EXCUSE for striking a player. Tagging is a legitimate aspect of the game and if a player needs to resort to illegal tactics to shake the tag, then he mustn't be that great of a player to start with. Good players will cope with the close attention without needing to whack someone.

I agree with the ammo's. Nothing wrong with a bit of "rough justice". Taggers get away with murder each week. :thumbsu:

what a load of crap. Taggers are no different to any backman. Their job is to stop their opposite number getting the ball, most taggers test mental strength, deal with it, if you cant, then maybe your not that good. If you think the person being tagged has it hard. I couldn't count the number of times I've seen the tagger getting belted behind play. If you think that stuff is "rough justice" then bring back footy of the eighty's.

now the hit in question was witnessed by the 2nd ump, before a ball up 10m away from any impending action. Play was stopped before it even got going to make the report. so how it even got to tribunal is a mystery. I think its a disgrace on the ammo's that he got off. The umpires may not be the best, but christ, at least back them up.

I have to agree with Crazybear on this one. Plenty of taggers play outside the rules by holding at stopages. Taggers will try and get away with whatever they can to try and stop the ball winners from getting the pill. If a tagger wants to play by these rules than they should expect the consequences.

Also there is to much sooking on this thread. We need more people like Ruck Machine on here who speak their mind and then dish out a bit of pain on the field.

Kudos to Ruck Machine.

What a load of BS.

Because the word 'tagger' is used it is automatically applied that there is holding, scragging, pinching & punching & that the bloke being tagged is doing the right thing by pursuing his own brand of vengeance.

Not all taggers take tactics beyond the rules. And my understanding is that the Mannigham bloke was playing close & taking away the LTU blokes running.

Anyway - in a game of footy there are blokes who are screaming to be hit & often don't get their right whack. Then there are others that are playing the game in the right spirit & get taken out.

I hate the linear approach of some knobs when commentating on games / incidents they haven't seen.

So... Swinburne or Mt Lilydale? I agree with the scribe, the loser will struggle to make the final 5. I think the home field advantage might be too much for MtL, and they didn't seem to have a very tall side when we played them. Swinburne has a few lumbering giant types.

Predictions Round 5---

S.M v B.H.N---S.M by 10+ goals
N.B v A.Park---N.B by 1 goal (please)
R.C v Chad---R.C by a 10+ goals
M.C v Kew---Kew 5+ goals
LTU v E.P---LTU 10+ goals
S.U v Mt.L---Mt.L in a close encounter (please)

Round 5 tips.

South mornington v Box hill north - South should have another big win here before a tough run of games with Latrobe, Mt Lilydale, Swinbourne, Richmond and Kew the next 5 games. South by 85 points

North brunswick v Albert park - North Brunswick have inproved a little but Albert Park will be to good. Albert Park by 92 points

Richmond central
v Chadstone - Richmond will be far to good here, Chadstone really struggling. Richmond by 134 points

Manningham cobras v Kew - Manningham play alright at home, Kew are slowly getting going but will win easy here. Kew by 56 points

Latrobe university
v Eley park - Eley Park have improved as well from last year but not enough, Latrobe are flying and will stay unbeaten here. Latrobe by 74 points.

Swinburne university v Mount lilydale - Easily match of the Round with all the other games one sided affairs, this game will tell us who is the better of the two teams and who can beat teams of there own standard which Mt Lilydale have not been guilty of in the past. Having not played any of these teams yet im guessing it will be a close game and im gonna stick with the home team. Swinbourne by 11 points.

Re: Round 5 tips.

You still playing seniors and reserves these days Bob?

Good luck to everyone this weekend. Hope the rain holds off.

Haha, Hey BigWaz, Nah i hope those days are gone forever, it was fun but sucked not having numbers, its all good this year got good numbers with around 10 blokes missing a game everyweek, so hopefully we keep this depth, avoid injuries and play some finals footy this year fingers crossed.

Also good luck BigWaz and everone this weekend.....

My last game of footy I was playing on you when I broke my wrist. 2 years back. I'm strapping the boots on again next weekend for the big BHN v RC derby.

Good win by Albert Park given the number and quality of the players that were missing this week showing good depth. Starting to look like Bronsen has hit it on the head with again the top side recording big wins

If i were you Big Waz i'd watch out for bob, pretty sure he is developing a bit of a man crush!!

yaman from swinburne kicked 13 out of 20 goals agianst mt lilydale. thats a fair effort .

kew play them this week....what type of player is he...remember a while back someone saying he is quite small and will play more in the midfield. i take it he played more up forward on the weekend.

Maybe if you have recovered from your injury KB's you may play on him and run off with your blistering pace;)
