Apart from training i also hear that there is a certain player at the mountain men that isnt popular amongst his own team mates????

who is it then? maybe you should concentrate on winning games of footy insted of slagging off other teams.

Round 12 Tips

40/55 Progressive

South Mornington vs Swinburne Uni - SM by 3 goals
Richmond Central vs Monash Gryphons - MG by 10 goals
Manningham vs North Brunswick - MC by 1 goal
Eley Park vs Box Hill North - BHN by 1 point

I was suggesting that they don't have much depth. A few injuries & their results may suffer....

Sorry to disappoint InFineForm but Mt lilydale have had injuries to senior players all year at one stage there was ten senior players out, didn't seem to suffer then, the injuries aren't hurting the seniors but killing the reserves as results show

The rest of us will still have to hold on to hope that one (at least) of ML &/or MG fall over...........

They're 2 pretty good teams - but good teams can be beaten in finals; you just need a bit more luck going your way...

Anyway - no doubt they're the favourites....

How's everyone's grounds holding up at the moment?? It's taken 9 years but we've finally had a very wet month and having read that Lilydale's ground has deteriorated, i'm interested to hear how others are holding up.

North Brunswick, whilst still firm under foot, is starting to show some wear and tear in parts as we also have juniors and Auskick on the ground.

I drove past Monash earlier in the week and that looked to be holding up pretty well.

And having played at Swinburne a couple of weeks ago, i know that the ground is in great nic if you play wide but the centre square is putrid!!!!! And STINKS!!!!!

Anyone else??

Round 11 Preview

On paper it looks a clear cut round, however, games are not won on paper and it is likely that one of the favoured teams will falter...

Centrals over Box Hill Nth by 16 Pts (This one may well be the closest contest of the day. The Snakes should win, but their lack of firepower up forward has to be a concern to Peter McBrearty and his coaching staff. Still their quality midfield should be enough to get them over the line)

Rams over Sharks by 33 Pts (The mountain men had their toughest test at home last weekend and passed it admirably. Eley Park should be a much easier prospect. Al Stuart to be in everything around the packs, and Rodwell too strong up forward).

Monash by 54 Pts over Razorbacks (Expect the Gryphons to be seething after last week’s loss in the dying seconds. Coach Osborne allegedly put his troops through gruelling week on the track after they let a 7 point lead slip in time on. Swinburne will unfortunately be on the end of this channelled determination and be out of the contest by half time. Lee Wells to be one of the home sides best in his 250th game).

Nth by 25 Pts over Pt Cook (The equation is simple for the Green & Golds, stop Aaron Marsh and you stop the Dogs. Pt Cook have not travelled well this season and although they will fight hard they will be no match for Nth. James Murphy to be among the best for the home side).

Cobras over Synners by 51 Pts (I expect this to be a lot closer than the predicted margin for much of the day, but the fact remains that Chadstone’s weakest six are not up to the standard required and that leaves too many holes around the ground. Expect Warrick De Vercelli to be at his best for no other reason than that I love his surname).

Round 11 Review

4/5 (42/55 Cumulative)

What a crucial win for the Demons at Elgar Park as they are now an outside chance for finals. Centrals are left to ponder a chance gone begging as they started well, but are being hurt at the top end by injuries to key personnel. They will do well to make finals at this rate. Box Hill’s win meant that the other big winner of the weekend was Nth Brunswick, who now find themselves firmly entrenched in the four with percentage irrelevant. As predicted, James Murphy starred in the Green & Golds big win over a disappointing Doggies cohort. North’s next opponent will be the similarly placed Cobras who disposed of Chadstone with much aplomb. Sam McCallum the lynchpin for Manningham. The top two did what the top two have done all season, won easily against inferior opponents. Although it must be said that the Sharks made the Mountain Men work for it a little harder than Swinburne did to Monash.

Round 12 Preview:

Strange old draw this week with only four fixtures…

Manningham over Nth by 14 Pts (Home ground advantage sways me on this one as these are two sides that are evenly matched on paper as well as in results. Their respective for and against are almost identical and hence the winner will most likely come from the team who wins the contested ball. The loser will be up against it for the remainder of the season, but I feel Ben Cookson can lead his men to a win).
Eley Park over Box Hill Nth by 16Pts (The corresponding fixture was won by less than a kick by the Demons and I expect a similar close contest, however, I think the Sharks are a reasonable side who should play finals and will be too good to drop this one. David Bennett to prove the difference).
Tigers over Razorbacks by 58Pts (The way Swinburne are playing, the margin could be far greater but one feels Sth may ease off once the game is won. The Tigers will show glimpses of the form that has them the biggest threat outside the big two and have the game in the bag early on. Grant Ryan will snag a few).
Gryphons over Snakes by 48Pts (Many thought this would be one of the marquis fixtures of the year back in March, but Centrals form has been so poor of late surely this can only go one way. Monash by plenty and Daniel Wills to be in fine form).

Good Luck to all

Re: D4 2010

40/50 progressive.

North Brunswick vs Point Cook - 16 points.
Monash vs Swinburne Uni - 48 points.
Box Hill North vs Richmond Centrals - 33 points.
Chadstone vs Manningham - 68 points.
Mt Lilydale vs Eley Park - 15 points.

44/55 progressive.

Box Hill are starting to frustrate the tipsters. As soon as I declare that I am officially off them, they win. Is it worth getting back on them? This week will prove a lot for them in match of the round.

South Mornington
vs Swinburne Uni - 44 points. Swinburne haven't amounted to much this year and they have a tough second half of the season. They will have a long trip back home after this loss. Will Spencer should kick a bag for SM.
Richmond Central vs Monash Gryphons - 72 points. The Snakes seem to be on a downward spiral at the moment but after this game they have a pretty good run home. I wouldn't count them out of finals yet but they wont get close in this game. Allen to kick 10 goals for Monash.
Manningham vs North Brunswick - 6 points. NB seem to be getting more players back. Up to now, their best players haven't played enough games. If NB can hold of Sam Maccallum from MC and Ford and Lucevic fire, NB should run away with this one. Should be a good contest.
Eley Park vs Box Hill North - 6 points. I think both BHN and EP like the smaller grounds so they don't have to run as much and can play a more physical contest. So expect a tough game out at Whitehorse Reserve as it is tiny. I don't want to tip BHN as they are my bogey side but think they may just get up here. Bennet from EP seems to be in good form so expect things from him. BHN will need someone else to kick some goals to help Penny out. Is Irish the player to do this?

Re: D4 2010

South Mornington vs Swinburne Uni - Going by results, South seem to be playing better, tipping the at home by 24 points.
Richmond Central vs Monash Gryphons - Monash by 12 goals.
Manningham vs North Brunswick - North Brunswick.
Eley Park vs Box Hill North - Eley park by 8 goals.

Reserves: Swinburne, Monash, NB & EP.

Re: D4 2010

McGaw 17 see its rife onthe WRFL big footy that Pt Cook have committed to playing in there comp next year in a division 3 can you shed some light.

No Team Premiers GF Final 5 2nd Last
1 Monash Gryphons $1.85 $1.02 $1.00 $1,001.00
2 Mt Lilydale $1.95 $1.04 $1.00 $1,001.00
3 North Brunswick $31.00 $16.00 $1.30 $1,001.00
6 Eley Park $41.00 $18.00 $1.80 $101.00
7 South Mornington $41.00 $18.00 $1.80 $101.00
8 Manningham $51.00 $21.00 $2.20 $101.00
4 Richmond Central $61.00 $31.00 $2.10 $101.00
10 Box Hill North $2,001.00 $501.00 $2.80 $21.00
5 Swinburne Uni $2,001.00 $501.00 $2.60 $4.00
9 Point Cook $5,001.00 $101.00 $8.00 $1.40
11 Chadstone $100,001.00 $2,501.00 $1,001.00 $16.00

Sorry about my absence, been overseas travelling but back now in time for the important stuff.

It's officially a 2 horse race. Still have Monash slight favourites with a 5 point loss away from home. Mt. Lilydale have been clearly a better side at home for a few years now, so sticking with the Gryphons at the moment.

Wide open for the remaining 3 spots in the 5....obviously....even Swinburne are a reasonable chance to make it if they get their act together. 7-8 wins should be enough.

Two's odds to follow

The WRFL would love the Point Cook Football Club to commit to them BUT i can tell you here and now that is not the case , there is as much truth to that as the Fevola rumour going around about him and a Brisbane Lions Misses that got hit on and him and Brown punching on at his place !!! Like Brown said its a Crock of SHIT !!!!!!!
Although i do believe the WRFL have asked P.C representitives to a meeting to Discuss options as we do have all our Juniors with the WRFL. And may be using that as leverage.
I`m sure Point Cook Football Club would not want to be apart of the botttom 6 clubs in the West and having to play eachother 3 times each for ONE to miss out on Finals !!!!!
I for one am enjoying playing in the VAFA and want to get myself through at least another year with more wins to our names .

Saw the Mt Lilydale v Gryphons game. A reasonable standard game considering condition of the ground with the better team on the day victorious. Mt Lilydale need to hope they don't get any injuries because they don't have anyone in 2's with enough ability to hold down a 1's position. Monash on the other hand have plenty as the result against Swinburne showed. 4-5 changes and a comprehensive win. Monash 2's would finish in the top 5 in 1's.
As a couple of contributors have already stated a 2 horse race with the rest making up the numbers. Monash even money favourites with Mt Lilydale 2-1 (providing they don't get any injuries), the rest write your own ticket.

I'll have:
$30,000 on Monash at Evens ($60,000 collect)
$20,000 on Mt Lilydale @ 2-1 ($60,000)

For the others, I'll use the odds I just gave

$2,000 on NB @ 30-1
$1,500 on SM @ 40-1
$1,500 on EP @ 40-1
$1,200 on MC @50-1
$1,000 on RC @ 60-1
$30 on BHN @ 2000-1
$30 on SWIN @ 2000-1
$12 on PC @ 5000-1

Don't worry about Chadstone, I'm prepared to risk it

Total Outlay $57,272

Will you accept my bet gryphindor?

Some teams copping a flogging this week. It would be tough to call the top five as cemented, but it is pretty close. With E.Park showing B.H.Nth that they are not ready to challenge for a spot aswell as Monash reminding Richmond even if they come back to play finals they are so far of the pace it aint funny! Sth.Mornington accounting for Swinburne ending thier 2010 and Manningham showing they want the 5th spot more than Brunswick.

Seems that after a very interesting weekend there isn't much discussion on here.

It was a good game in both 1's & 2's between Manningham and Nth Brunswick. Good spirit as always between the two clubs.

have the umpires been directed to pay a free kick in a marking contest to any contact other than with the ball? last two games I've watched they have over umpired this to the detriment of the game. and the frustration of all and sundry. is anyone else finding this? it's quite ridiculous and very painful. I'm worried it's a directive from those above in the VAFA world. if so god help us all as soon it will be ......... the way we play.

First I've heard of any such "directive".

Guess it comes down to the interpretation of whether the contact was a realistic attempt to either mark the ball or punch it (not ending with a punch to the head!) and that no push, bump, block, hold or deliberate interference with players arms has taken place to take the opponent out of the contest

sh#t - you're an umpire aren't you. all those things you mention "no push, bump, block, hold or deliberate interference with players arms has taken place to take the opponent out of the contest", are legitimate ways to play the game (except for holding). please, you make me sick - along with your umpire mates. whats happening to our game? ahhhh - you're all soft. you all swallow this dribble filtering down from the AFL which is supposed to reflect the standards of our great society. what a load. Mark Webber is right - we do live in a nanny state. and its permeating through every facet of our lives. including amateur football.

The BHN vs Eley Park game was umpired in a similar vein. Both teams very confused by some of the decision making.

RM what happened in the 1st qtr on sat, after last weeks great win this wasn't expected.

I'm also concerned for the wellbeing of Big Waz, no posts for almost 2 weeks now....maybe on holidays:confused:

Agreed. I looked on bewildered on a couple of occasions even though we had won the free kick.

How did you pull up after saturday ruck? The bloke playing on you in the first half (skinny one) seemed to be running you off your feet.

I'll tell you what's confusing you plonker ruck machine . This Facebook message that about 15 to 20 Mt Lilydale players received the week before we played Box Hill Nth the first time this year .

May 12 at 6:47pm Report
FYI
Hi there, I think you are with Lilydale football club. I let you
Know that we heard there players talk so degradingly of
Your club after we beat them easily. I cannot use the feral
Words they used to you people but they are so cocky this week.
I hope you teach them a lesson and respect to your club.
Cheers (I have to stay anon. via gfriend play you soon)

Can you shed any light on this absolute dribble .

For memory i think we ended up beating you pretty easily , which surprised me . I thought we may of cracked under the intense mind games you guys were playing

For anyone else reading this . I know the message makes NO SENSE what so ever . But i have not edited it or changed a thing . This is exactly what was received the week leading up the the game .
