Don't understand why new clubs wanting to join don't get forced to play atleast one year in the Club 18 competition with the senior team playing in section 1 and the reserves in section 2 or 3.

If they make finals, they get promoted to D4 and the team who finishes last in D4 takes there place in Club 18.

Would save on a lot of mucking around with the draw and ensure a fairer system whereby everyone plays each other twice and the final 4 play off.

OR!!!!

There are currently 72 clubs in the ammos (not including Point Cook) so create 6 grades of 12 teams, play a final 5 in all of them, rename the grades A, B, C, D, E & F and the bottom team in F grade gets relegated for any new club doing their pennance in Club 18 providing they make the finals.

Busy day at work, can't you tell!!

I think new teams entering the ammo's should start in D3, with the two bottom teams in D3 being demoted and the D4 Premier being promoted.

My reasons why are:
In the last 8 or so years every team that has entered D4 has been promoted straight away (excluding Sth Morn). If a team gets smashed in D3 they drop the following year.
If no new team enters the status quo remains; 2 up, 2down
If a team like assumption gets up, all teams will be playing for 2nd
More and more teams are looking to the ammos as a cheaper option to their 'professional' leagues. They will all be entering D4
It's hard enough to win a flag in D4 without teams changing

Reason why it probably won't happen.
New teams aren't usually confirmed until the season is over and the runners up will need to know what divison their in before that.

If point cook played Clubbies, where would their reserves play????

They have to play D4. There will be a side come in or drop off, and it will even out again.

Its not that hard.

In 2008 the Box Hill North Dragons had 2 Teams playing in the Clubbies (effectively their Seniors and Reserves). Point Cook could easily negotiate a similar deal with the VAFA.

I dont think that this would suit the VAFA or the PCFC.

Like i said, someone else will join the comp in a year or two, and it will even out again.

Box Hill North may have needed that time in the clubbies to get running, I dont think that is the case for Point Cook.

Clubbies in my opinion should be saved for thirds, and thats it.

All senior clubs should have a Senior & Reserve side in the Senior Divisions.

From the VAFA website...

"
On Wednesday, a different ball game began at the little green hamlet aside the Princes Highway. Monash Gryphons, lately but formerly of D3, reassembled under new coach Richard Osborne.

He of towering torpedo legend took a back seat while the preliminary and obligatory laps occurred. Just 2kg over his fighting weight, the rookie coach was happy to observe and ask questions about this player and that. The Gryphons' seasoned observers advising him had mentioned average first night turnout to be in the order of fifteen. This night there were that many new faces and many old.

As they ran down the far side and fanned out along the rail, somebody called a total head count. "Forty-four," yelled one. "Hey, that was Ozzie's number." Nice symmetry. By the time they went around again, the numbers had swelled further.

Osborne then addressed the assembly for the first time and did so in impressive fashion, citing a list of personal philosophies. While stressing some of the traditional values, he avoided all of the cliches. He spoke with polish and very much from the heart. Not every AFL veteran makes an easy transition to the VAFA, but I suspect Oborne will. I suspect also that the Gryphs will be a fun place to be in 2010 and a successful place too.

Who from the VAFA is bending over for the Gryphons? They even, in a round about way, call themselves a D3 side! Welcome to D4 Monash :S

The reason why the have listed Monash as a D3 club is that most VAFA power brokers are unaware that there is actually a D4.

Monash is small, but normally in good nick. :thumbsu:

It's common knowledge that Bulleen is one of the best grounds in the competition. You can ask any player that has ever played on it, they don't come much better.
