Round 2 Tips
Monash Gryphons vs South Mornington - Monash by 3 Goals
Box Hill North vs Eley Park - Box Hill North by 1 point
Richmond Central vs Chadstone - Richmond by 8 goals
Mt Lilydale vs North Brunswick - North Brunswick by 1 goal
Swinburne Uni vs Point Cook - Point Cook by 3 Goals

Monash v SM - SM will be reeling from an after the siren loss at home, and will either come out firing at Monash, or have another travel induced let down. Seniors - Monash by 5 goals. Reserves - Monash by 10 goals.

BHN v Sharks - By all reports this should be a close game, but the home field adv should be enough for the Demons coming off an extra long pre-season. Seniors - BHN by 3 goals - Reserves - BHN by 1 goal.

RC v "The Fashion Capital" - RC by 1 point

MTL v NB - I agree with FruitLoop. This should go down to the wire in both Seniors and Reserves. Seniors - MTL by 1 goal. Reserves - NB by 3 goals.

Swinburne v Point Cook - This game will be PC's introduction to the tiny grounds often played in D4. After playing all pre-season on the big Dunnings Rd ground, the tight confines of StJ Park may confound the run of Bulldogs. Seniors - Point Cook by 1 goal. Reserves - Swinburne by 1 goal.

Round 2:
Monash vs Sth.Morn: Monash should pull away after half time and win by 8 goals.
B.H.Nth vs Eley.P: B.H.Nth at home should get up, but eley.P have had a week to gel a bit and will sneak home in a close one by a goal.
Rich.C vs Chadstone: Rich.C to take on 'Phantoms mob and cruise to a 15 goal victory with a few gears left.
Mt.L vs Nth.B: Match of the round I'd think, but will take the visitors by a goal.
Swinburne vs P.Cook: Swinburne played a pretty good possesion game over the weekend, controlling the tempo of the game and will do so again to make a 2-0 start with a 4 goal win.

It does seem to be a tough round for tips......All games just about contenders for 'Match of the Round'.

Tips for round 2:
Monash v Sth.M----Monash to be in front at every cahange to win comfortably by 7-10 goals.
B.H.N v E.Park----I will go with the home side in a close one by 3 goals.
Rich.C v the Chad----Massive improvment on last year for the devils but Rich.C still a few levels up and will win by 12 goals.
Mt.Lily v Nth.B----Should be a great contest.
S.Uni v P.Cook----I will go the home side again and back 'em in by 2 goals.
Magoos: Monash, B.H.N, Rich.C, Mt.L, P.Cook.

There is a bit of what you can do i can do (better:)) - but in reality it';s great to see Div 4 getting some coverage.

Manningham Cobras strike in Round 1 with won over South Mornington | Herald Sun
www.heraldsun.com.au
MANNINGHAM Cobras opened their VAFA Division 4 account with a thrilling win at the weekend.

Oh yeah:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/promising-point/story-fn53khnc-1225852440154

Take that :) Plenty of errors in this report though... Who are the Tigers for instance?

North Brunswick vs Monash - 4 points.
South Mornington vs Manningham - 10 points.
Chadstone vs Mt Lilydale - 50 points.
Point Cook vs Richmond Central - 20 points.
Eley Park vs Swinburne Uni - 30 points.

5/5 so far. Hope to keep the good form going. Tipped all away last week and tipping all home this week.

Monash v South Mornington - 36 points. Good chance for Monash to see where they are at but playing at home will be too strong.
Boxhill North v Eley Park - 11 points. Flip of a coin but Boxhill for their first up game.
Richmond Central v Chadstone - 96 points. Richmond way too stong.
Mt Lilydale v North Brunswick - 4 points. North Brunswick looked good last week and Mt Liliydale impressive win over ordinary Chadstone. Mt Lilydale apparently with numbers back and a few North Brunwick boys may be still sore after a bruising encounter with Monash. Close game.
Swinburne Uni v Point Cook - 10 points. I'm not sure why I'm picking Swinny this game. My head says PC, my gut says Swinny. It's that or indigestion.

Neither have trained with BHN yet so if there are 44 guys available who have trained I don't think they'll get a game on Saturday.

Interested to know about your move back from Kew - just a better bunch of blokes at Jordan Reserve?

I'm not actually going back there, just keep an interest in the lads. Might be changing comps but wont play much if at all cause of work.

Round 2:
Monash vs Sth.Morn: Monash should pull away after half time and win by 8 goals.

As i just said not going back there, and i think we are all aware that chaddy was going to struggle again this year, but clearly kicking four and going down by 11 goals is a massive improvement on last year so suggesting that chaddy is an easier week than the bye is just stupid, we have all been at clubs on the build who struggle to win games and chaddy is just that at the moment.

Round 1 Preview

Monash over Nth Bruns by 26Pts (Monash have been all the rage in the mass media over summer with the signing of former AFL star, Richard Osborne. However, the Gryphs would not want to be off guard one iota as there are plenty of reports coming from Allard Park of big improvements in 2010. A real good hit out awaits the Gryphs)

Sth Morn over The Cobras by 55 Pts (Citation Oval is fast becoming a fortress and Alan Sutherland’s men will be far too slick for Manningham)
Mt Lilydale over Chadstone by 46 Pts (I think all VAFA fans would hope Chadstone showed some improvement this season, so at home they may be in this game for a while, but ultimately class will prevail)
Pt Cook over Richmond by 8 Pts (Match of the day for sure, if nothing else at least for the intrigue. Just how good will Pt Cook be? Don’t expect this to be an easy initiation for them as the Centrals have recruited well and have the necessary depth this season – Clubbies – to challenge for the title. Could go either way).
Swinburne over Eley Park by 41 Pts (Reports from Whitehorse Reserve have been mixed at best and whilst the Razorbacks were largely disappointing in 09’ expect them to win this rather comfortably)

Round 1 Review

3/5 is a fair result at best and nowhere near some of my esteemed colleagues...

Absolutely no doubt I underestimated the Cobras. Their come from behind victory against Sth Mornington showed great courage and Angelo Gencarelli (must admit love the name!) was in everything. Coach Sutherland left to ponder what might have been. Other big winners for the round were The Snakes who beat the odds, the umpires and the crowd in accounting for the debutantes and Nth Brunswick, who pushed the Gryphons all the way and were arguably unlucky to lose. Mt Lilydale and Swinburne had solid wins as expected.

Round 2 Preview

Monash over Sth Morn by 48 Pts (Can only see this one going one way in Nick Rutherford's 150th. SM will give good account of themselves in the first half, but Gryphs to pull away thereafter).
Box Hill Nth over Eley Park by 12 Pts (Very hard to line up the form on this one, but expect the home side to prevail due to the home ground advantage).
Richmond over Chadstone by 88 Pts (Looks a certainty on paper and the margin the only matter worth arguing. Daniel Pike to continue his good form for the Snakes).
Mt Lilydale over North Brunswick by 5 Pts (Sure to be close and the large expanses of Mercy College Oval the only thing swaying me to the home side. Expect a big game from Mark Gower).
Point Cook over Swinburne by 3 Pts (Match of the round at St James' Park and I will give the Doggies another chance. Todd Lawrie proving too much for the Razorbacks).

Good luck to all

Score 5

Monash v Sth Morn - Gryphs at home
Box Hill Nth v Eley Park - this is just a pure guess
Richmond v Chadstone - tigersnakes in a canter, could be outright favs this week pending on how monash go
Mt Lilydale v North Brunswick - nth bruns were good by all reaports last week but the rams at home
Point Cook v Swinburne - bulldogs at home to get there 1st win

us to account for the bye and stay in the 5

Score 5

Monash v Sth Morn - Gryphs at home Yep - Gryphons to win this one at home. One of the games where the rest of the competition starts to work out where the benchmarks are.
Box Hill Nth v Eley Park - this is just a pure guess (Is Melbdocker tipping a draw here?) We all think BHN are going to be weak this year. If EP are anywhere close to playing finals they just have to win this. EP for mine.
Richmond v Chadstone - tigersnakes in a canter, could be outright favs this week pending on how monash go RC by more than Waz's one point.
Mt Lilydale v North Brunswick - nth bruns were good by all reaports last week but the rams at home Another one where these two teams get the opportunity to rattle the competition cage. It's a real toss of the coin, but I suspect the NB will want to make a statement here. NB just...
Point Cook v Swinburne - bulldogs at home to get there 1st win A fourth game this week where I don't have a clear cut winner in mind. PC to get over the line in their first game at home.

us to account for the bye and stay in the 5

Underestimate them at your peril Quasi. As stated before, anyone who can kick 70+ goals in Divy 3 EFL (as well as Club Captain, B&F etc and lead his team to a preliminary final) is gonna kick a swag in D4 and be very hard to stop.
