As has been stated here - there are mechanisms within the VAFA to sort out these things, and I expect to get a call from HQ this week. That is the extent to which I will act on these incidents Can I also add that I do not condone any acts of head butting, punching, elbowing, eye-gouging etc by anyone. So I am disappointed that these incidents have occurred.

These are the parts of your response that I find most interesting plugger.

You are admitting that these actions took place yet you are not prepared to do anything about it. You say you do not condone these actions yet you are condoning them by not taking action. Actions speak louder than words.
If you expect a call from the VAFA you clearly understand the seriousness of the situation, why not get on the front foot and send a clear message about what your club stands for. You are at the moment but unfortunately its not a great message.

I will say that I have made it very clear to the coaches, players and committee what I expect when representing our club - there is a leadership group and a coaching group, and finally a committee who will manage anything that sits outside of my expectations

By the committee taking no action i am assuming that number 10's actions are within your expectations. Is this correct? If not then why is your committee not taking action. The reality is the coaches and leadership group should not accept this kind of behaviour but if they don't take action that is when a strong committee protects the reputation of its club.

Sorry plugger but it looks very much like your club accepts thuggery as part of its culture. I guess all D4 clubs now know what to expect when playing manningham. I just hope no one is seriously hurt due to your clubs inaction. When he goes off again don't play the innocent card about it being one player. You have had ample warning. It's now on your head.

Well said The Don. Must admit we as a club are not looking forward to playing Mannigham again Round 14. Lets just hope that number 10 isnt playing as it will be a very sore bus load of guys.

??? are you serious???.....so soft.

soft or not... That is NOT what footy is about. Try wining a game through skill and talent. There are some people that play in a club for one simple reason. He had no football skills, shouldn't even be in the 1's.

At least other clubs will be aware of this when they play manningham and the umpires aware too.

To quote a previous post, everyone has work on Monday, no one wants huge doctors bills and having to pay for expensive xrays. The human body is a strong yet fragile thing, it only takes being hit in the wrong place and serious injuries can follow. So how about trying to get the ball and convert that into something useful for your club.

...not condoning the actions of number 10 at all - didn't see the game - have never seen a D4 game to be honest...just questioning the attitude that they are scared of going to play Manningham in Rnd 14, and that there will be a bus-load of sore people on the way home. Lucky you didn't play in the 80's.

Trial by BigFooty.

Seems the only fair way to settle this is someone start a poll on how many weeks he should be suspended.

Plugger, this forum is for half truths and innuendo, you shouldn't feel the need to defend yourself or your club on here regarding a serious matter, although, if you could sanction the suspension poll, it would certainly add more interest

Wasnt born in the 80's, perhaps that is what makes me SOFT!

Updated Odds After Round 3.

Down to three real contenders after Richmond disposed of Swinburne convincingly. Also, like punters in the AFL who backed Richmond for the spoon, I'm also paying out now on Chadstone.

[No Team Premiers GF Final 5 Spoon
1 Monash Gryphons $2.60 $1.20 $1.01 $5,001.00
3 Mt Lilydale $3.30 $1.90 $1.01 $5,001.00
2 Richmond Central $3.60 $2.00 $1.01 $5,001.00
4 Swinburne Uni $12.00 $5.50 $1.25 $1,001.00
5 North Brunswick $31.00 $14.00 $1.90 $1,001.00
6 Point Cook $61.00 $31.00 $2.80 $1,501.00
7 Manningham $61.00 $31.00 $2.20 $1,001.00
8 South Mornington $101.00 $51.00 $3.60 $1,001.00
9 Box Hill North $151.00 $71.00 $4.20 $51.00
10 Eley Park $501.00 $251.00 $5.00 $11.00
11 Chadstone $5,001.00 $2,501.00 $10.00 $1.00

its sounds to me that nothing is going to happen to number ten and the club should not have to deal with it and unless mt lilydale put in a complaint nothing will come of it. But i tell you what it will be a very physical mach next time we play i wont back down if i get a chance ill be putting him on his ass but it wont be behind the play and i hope he will grow out of this barry hall like stage (by the help of his team mates) and hit a few people leagaly because thats what we like to see hangers and people putting on big hits to help a team mate get a clear parth to goal or to hit up a full forward.
And on the crowd issue we have had bad things said about the supporters at mt lilydale and is pretty bad but as a player you should be old and wise to just take no notice of it and let them bad mouth you because at the end of the day they are to scared or not skilled enough to play in the 1's.

Odd - but I can see where you're coming from... :)

I think most of us like our footy to be hard & all of us refer it to be directed at the ball. Never paid a free kick against someone that was going for the ball. Have paid a few (probably in some cases incorrectly) for guys that went the man...

Good luck. We look forward to you guys hosting us later in the year; where hopefully we all get to talk about the quality of the play, rather than the quality of the hits.

yes it should be a good game and i hope we do talk about the quality because we have had some good contest in the past and i hope it reterns back to that later on in the season and good luck untill then

OK. So MAnningham have a nutter playing for them, noted! Can we move on now???
Round 4:
Sth.M vs B.H.Nth - Box Hill do seem improved but Sth.Morn have to much to play for and last years finalists will register win number one with a 7 goal win.
Monash vs P.Cook - I'm yet to get a gage on Monash and have no spy-ware up that way but P.Cook have not impressed. Monash by 10 goals at home.
Mt.Lily vs R.Central - 'MAtch of the Round'. I am now on the Ram Wagon, but they may be 4-5 key players short this week.(any truth to my spy-ware) Mt.Lily at home by 2 goals.
Swinburne vs Chadstone - Swinburne to bounce back with a % booster and roll 'em by 14 goals.
Eley.P vs Manningham - Eley.P seemed to have done some late recruiting(spy-ware) and will be up for a big game. the home side by 2 goals.

i'm going to watch Eley Park v Manningham. from past experience against Eley Park they will have 6 or so guys who will have no hesitation in putting the nutter on his arse and then some. thats if he misbehaves of course, not suggesting Eley Park are mongrels or anything like that, i'm sure they are very nice boys.

No.10 has been a blight at every club he has played at. This is nothing new. Ask a few of the old generals at Kew what they think of him. Manningham have made an error in recruiting.

Round 4 Tipping:

Sth.M v B.H.N Sth.M to start a run of wins here with a 3 goal win.
Monash v P.C Monash are still going to be the team to beat(for mine) in D4 2010 and I expect them to make light work of the new-comers to the tune of 12 goals.
Mt.L v Rich.C Should be a good match for top spot.
Swin.U v Chaddy Swinburne rather comfortably at home by 20 goals.
E.Park v Manny Should be a close game but the visitors to bounce back and run away with a 7 goal win.

2's: Sth.m, Monash, Mt.L, Swin.U, Manny.

I know most blokes don't care much about the ressies so you may not have noticed that the reserves ladder is a bit wacky.

Manningham Cobras (1 win, 1 loss and 1 bye. 12 points) are above North Brunswick (with 3 wins).

Not sure what is going on with Boxhill North (0 wins, 2 losses and 1 bye. 8 points).

I hope the VAFA/Sporting Pulse can sort out this whole bye thing. Every week the ladders have something wrong with them with teams that have had the bye.

Why bother giving 4 points with teams that have byes? Does every team have 2 byes?

Round 4 Tips

Running Total - 12/15

South Mornington vs Box Hill North - BHN by 1 point
Monash vs Point Cook - Monash by 5 goals
Mt Lilydale vs Richmond - MtL by 2 goals
Swinburne vs Chadstone - SU by 10 goals
Eley Park vs Manningham - MC by 4 goals

10/10 so far.

North Brunswick v South Mornington - 10 points.
Chadstone v Eley Park - 54 points.
Richmond Central v Swinburne - 15 points.
Manningham v Mt Lilydale - 25 points.
Point Cook v Box Hill North - 32 points.

15/15 progressive. Right on the money!

South Mornington vs Box Hill North - 17 points. South Mornington too stong at home.
Monash vs Point Cook - 56 points. Point Cook with a lot to prove at this early stage of the year. Haven't lived up to pre-season expectations. Has the Number 1 ticket holder made an appearance yet?
Mt Lilydale vs Richmond - 7 points. Match of the round! Mt Lilydale are looking good at this time of year and at this stage would have to be favoured as the stongest team in the comp. Be wary of the Tiger Snakes as they are a strong team and will be there come finals time.
Swinburne Uni vs Chadstone - 67 points. Swinburne will be looking for a percentage booster as it could become very important for them to snatch that last spot come finals time.
Eley Park vs Manningham - 36 points. Mt Lilydale seemed pretty distressed at #10 from the Cobras during the week. Will be interesting to see if he plays this week or not. I don't think the Sharks will really care and would expect them to put up a good battle only to be run over in the end.

Waz,

I was investigating why Point Cook's % in the magoos is so bad, and checking scores, it says they didn't manage to bother the goal umpires in round 1, is that true or have they shown their inexperience and been penalised under one of the VAFA's many obscure rules
