Some very interesting results from the weekend.

RC get knocked off their perch (again).

MtL pushed hard by PC which was a good wake up call.

Monash look to be premiership faves now even though they struggled for half vs BHN.

Monash have depth & Mtl don't, that I think could be the telling difference. RC will get some players back (look like the walking wounded on Sat against EP) and their two's are winning so don't write them off yet.

Diesel was bad when at AP

the worst with out fail.

he gave me a down field one day after getting smashed in the head because the ff dropped the mark called play on and when he kicked the goal off the ground brought it back to me 60 out from goal.

i said you called down field and he said no i called advantage and because he dropped the mark i have to bring it back. i said but the flags had already been waved when you called it and he said one more word i will reverse it and send you off.

RC reserves umpire is bad, horrible even, but i didn't see him being biased. in my opinion he has been even to both teams. he is trigger happy on the 25m penalties, he even ran into a bloke and gave a 25m penalty for umpire contact. having said that, he is also happy to turn on RC. i guess the only advantage RC (including supporters) have is the dicipline to not chat back as they know the consequences.

i think this needs to be addressed by the vafa. if supporters can give away penalties then whats to stop another team from slagging the umpires to give thier team a benefit, just wearing plain clothes and appearing to support the opposition.

the end of the day it is d4 reserves, watch AFL and you see shocking umpiring, now think of the distance between the two leagues. sooking about the umpires on the field is disgusting. it ruins the game for everyone.

It is my understanding if there is abuse from the surrounds of the bench the ump can pay a free kick but outside of there he cant really do much. I am sure that no club wants to see umpirinig like this, but they probably would struggle to find a replacement

Sneako, not just a gun on field bagging goal after goal but fairly handy in the EPL. Congrats on winning the Sportal EPL comp...your shout on Thursday night, you might even sell some raffle tickets:thumbsu:

Monash have changes to both teams most weeks, as do other clubs. The difference is, as you correctly point out, their depth. They will have changes again this week but it won't unbalance either 1st or 2nds. This will stand them in good stead all year and watch out if they ever have all players available in the same week. Looks like Monash v Mt Lilydale will decide top spot so I will be down to watch that one.

W.T.F.....Well 'Fruitloop' I guess you are another 'Yellow'n'Blue' clown that may want to also invest in private health insurance!!! Or could you possibly be the same clown??? You must not watch to many games, as I am far from a gun and couldnt kick the pill between the big sticks to save myself.

is he the albert park ump who got punched by a player at the vafa presentation night a few years back?

Results:
Nth.Brunswick-119 defeat Manningham-97: Good win to get the season back on track. Manningham with a single win over Sth.Mornington by a point have fallen of the finals radar for mine.
Sth.Mornington-137 defaet Chadstone-16: Going along OK now but play Swinburne then Eley Park both of whom will be fighting for the 4-5 positions on the laddder, so we will see if they'll be contenders.
Monash-181 defeat B.H.Nth-99: Not alot of talk about the Gryphons and I suspect they will be a good chance of going the season undefeated. Seem to be having 40+ shots on goal a week.
Eley Park-118 defeat Richmond-85: Wow. This game was at K.B oval aswell. Richmond????? Great win Eley Park, that will definately get a few talking.
Mt.Lilydale-117 defeat Point Cook-97: Mt.Lilydale escape with a last quater flurry here. Were they undermanned or were Point Cook finally 'gelling'???

Good to see some upsets and interesting results, it seems the positions 3-5 will be a fair battle this season.

Progressive 19/25

Box Hill North vs Mt Lilydale - BHN by 1 point
Chadstone vs North Brunswick - NB by 10 goals
Manningham vs Monash - Monash by 6 goals
Swinburne Uni vs South Mornington - SU by 1 goal
Eley Park vs Point Cook - EP by 4 goals

Is the BHN tip club loyalty, wishful thinking or extreme optimism?
Manningham's home ground advantage may help them however if Monash fires (which is likely) the scoreboard attendant will need a calculator.

Perhaps #10 might have something to say about that!

Style wise I think Manningham match up well with Monash. Big Terry vs Leets in the Ruck should be a great encounter. Manningham also have good tall forwards with pace which could cause head aches for the Monash back line.

BHN Tip ... I know we can win if we fire on all cylinders and I assume we will.

Correct, or that's how I heard the story, it was Boycy who was hit by one of the Elsternwick fellows.

rings true as what i remember of the night other than running into barry hall at the casino, was that an elsternwick player has smashed (what i thought was an albert park) reserves umpire. so it must have been a UHSOB ump. pity.

19/20 progressive.

North Brunswick vs Manningham - 28 points.
South Mornington vs Chadstone - 23 points.
Box Hill North vs Monash - 95 points.
Richmond Central vs Eley Park - 15 points.
Point Cook vs Mt Lilydale - 112 points.

23/25 progressive.

Eley Park continue to surprise me. 2 tips dropped both against the sharks. I wont be falling for that mistake again.

Box Hill North vs Mt Lilydale - 60 points. Are Mt Lilydale beginning their slide south? I still rate them one of the stongest teams but wasn't much of a showing against Point Cook last week. Lack of 2's success does ask the questions about depth.
Chadstone vs North Brunswick - 88 points. Monash scored more last week than Chadstone have kicked for the year. Will be a long season for Chadstone and can't see them winning a game.
Manningham vs Monash - 29 points. Gryphs didn't play great footy last week and still game away with a 13 goal win. I expect the Cobras to put up a good fight at home but they wont good enough to take the points here.
Swinburne Uni vs South Mornington - 15 points. Only a 4 goal win in round 4 against Chadstone might come back to haunt Swinburne at the business end of the season. They are still quietly getting the job done. As South Mornington haven't won an away game this year I don't think they can travel and wont get the points here.
Eley Park vs Point Cook - 32 points. Sharks have been my tipping nemesis and I need to get on board. Those couple of first games must be haunting them now and they are on the improve. Clearly Point Cook haven't lived up to pre-season expectations. They must've had a good 2nd quarter last week but need to put in a solid 4 quarter effort is they wish to get the points.

Round 5 Preview:

Nth Brunswick over The Cobras by 23 Pts (Should be a fiery Northern Derby as the loser falls right off the pace, however I favour the home side who should relish the damp conditions at Allard Park).
South Mornington over Synners by 54 Pts (The Tigers would not want to take this game lightly as Chadstone are a developing nation, however class will prevail. Mitchell Duff to continue his good form for the home side)
Monash over BHN by 67 Pts (The Gryphons juggernaut is gaining momentum each week and realistically the Demons will be lucky to get this close as the depth at Monash is the best in the comp. Matt Fletcher to star for the visitors).
Snakes over the Sharks by 17 Pts (Arguably match of the round as Eley Park are also improving, but Richmond cannot afford to drop home games if they are the real deal and should win a close one. James Egan to prove the difference).
Mt Lilydale over Pt Cook by 58 Pts (It will be far more committed Doggies outfit tomorrow, but they are playing the competition frontrunners who will be far too strong in the wash up. Rams comfortably)

Round 5 Review

4/5 (20/25 cumulative)

Big winners for the weekend past were clearly Eley Park, who not only took a big scalp in Centrals, but won on the road. Midfielder, Damien McCabe is fast gaining a reputation as the finest ball handler in the competition and the Sharks are brimming with confidence after a belated start. The Snakes on the other hand, look like they need the up and coming rest to recoup some of their early season form. Monash continue to impress and definitively won each quarter against a spirited but inferior Demons outfit. Many speak of the Gryphs defence being their strength, but 51 goals in the past two weeks means they also have a very potent forward line. Lee Wells has become a converted forward and is arguably the best contested mark in the competition, so backmen beware! Point Cook are a case of Jekyll & Hyde depending on which side of the West gate their game is played and whilst the Rams took the points, the Doggies showed they will be no easybeats at home. Aaron Marsh and Andy Rodwell inversely mirrored the fortunes of their respective teams with dominant displays in the key forward post. The clash between bitter rivals Manningham and Nth Brunswick provided the match of the day, but the home ground advantage got proved significant. South Mornington barely raised a sweat and won by 121 points.

Round 6 Preview

The Rams Over Box Hill North by 52Pts (Sure the Demons will make a game of it and be hard at it at times, but ultimately their skill level is poor and Brendon Byrne will have a field day mopping up across half back for the visitors)
North Brunswick over Synners by 48Pts (Who could possibly pick Chadstone, a team that has only managed 162 points in five games. Stuart Hearn to collect 40 plus possessions amongst the carnage).
Monash over The Cobras by 34Pts (Agree with many of my colleagues that this is a danger game for the Gryphons, however the class gap is so great that Manningham’s efforts will be in vain. Nick Rutherford to star for Monash).
Razorbacks over South by 13 Pts (I have the sneaking suspicion this one will be close all day so any bystanders could do a lot worse than to venture over to St James Park for the match of the day. Don’t be surprised if South take it right up to Swinny, but then again…?)
Eley Park over Pt Cook by 48 Pts (I’m tipping that the Dogs will play with their Edward Hyde persona and get eaten alive at Whitehorse Reserve. Blake Sahlstrom to benefit from this misanthropy and snag a few. Sharks easily)

Good luck to all
