Disappointing not being able to buy a beer after the yesterdays games but I have
to give credit where credit is due for playing both finals at the same venue.
I was able to go back and forth between games, once it looked like Westbourne had the choclates
watched the last 20 minutes of the Eley Park game and what a heart stopper it was.
Lillydale hit the front with about 10 seconds left and put everyone bar one player behind the ball,
Eley Park won the clearance and kicked the ball forward where one of their players took an
absolute speccy 20m out directly infront.
The siren sounded so he was kicking to win the game after the siren, unfortunately
for them he missed the set shot so Lillydale held on for a great win.
Two things that stood out for me was how hard the centre wicket area was for both games
and I can't see either team that plays next week getting anywhere near Westbourne.

cant see anyone touching westbourne in the granny this season, it would truly be one of the more shocking losses of recent times if they weren't able to get up, they are far too good and deep on every line

Finals at Westbourne!

What a disgraceful decision by the VAFA to hold the Prelim Finals at Westbourne. Doesn't the VAFA stand for Victorian Amatuer Football Association and not just the Western Region Association.
How unfair for Eley Park in the reserves & Mt Lilydale in the seniors to travel (over an hour) not just the players and support staff, but also friends & family who would like to support their sides, yet Point Cook get to get in the car at travel 12 minutes down there road.

Not just that, but doesn't Point Cook & Westbournes ground have the exact same conditions in terms of wind?

Out of all the grounds around Victoria they come up with this decision.

This weeks games are at Westbourne..

Get the bar sorted ramjets

You'll be right mate, load up the car, pack the picnic basket and make a day out of it! I'm sure they're will be plenty to drink after the game :)

As most coaches who are playing finals will tell you, we don't care where we play so long as we are playing.
I suppose that is the advantage of ending up higher on the ladder, you get some sort of advantage.
Both Westbourne & PC travel these distances every 2nd week yet were able to end up 1st & 2nd on the ladder at the end of the year
Don't worry, if PC happen to win this week you won't have to worry about any travel next year

The success of Westbourne and Point Cook this year, particularly in the face of all of the WRFL clubs around them in terms of getting players is probably of the great stories to come from the VAFA this year.

No doubt the people at HQ would have been concerned about the long term viability of Amateur footy in the outer west...after this season, not so much.

Welcome to our life every second week! Hopefully PC win and you can enjoy your Eastern suburbs love fest in D4 in 2017

There's a difference to a seasons fixture where you can not choose who/where you play. Finals fixturing shouldn't advantage one team.

Ask Eley Park Senior Coach if he would be happy to travel to Westbourne rather than enjoy the company of his seniors players on Mad Monday.

Should be a good match, last time ML where to good for us on their home turf.

Both teams have played once each at WB this year s cant see that an advantage other than travel
