Re: D4 Section Ammos
An activity like this is always going to be flawed seeing as people can only really judge players based on how they went when you played them.
The bloke who had 7 kicked on him that day was neither of the players named in RM's team. Unfortunately BHNs two best key defenders are also the best 2 ruckman so would spend as much time in either position.
Exactly right Abba. If the opposition gun is missing or shut down on the day you play them, you have that as your main reference point. I think big Ed has done a sterling job in the last couple of seasons, selecting the team of the year.
I have seen six gun CHFs, 2 very good full forrwards, 3 outstanding ruckman, 4 sterling full backs and too many to count top notch onballers. It can be the case that your clubs best player is an onballer, but may miss out to a Papaluca (there is that name again) and the like from top teams.
As to #35 BHN at full back. As BHN lost their main ruck man early in the season, he has been used in the ruck a lot. Only goes back when they think the opposition have a real gun full forward. He is 6'5", is super quick and has an enormous reach for spoiling. He got taken to the cleaners when injured at St Mary's early this year. But has not even looked like allowing a bag since then. Was rightfully CHB of the '06 D4 team.
I think the only other BHN player that you can say is best at his position is D. Penny. Though just back from a leg strain, and spending quite a bit of time on the ball, he is terribly hard to match up as a small forward who can mark with the big blokes.
Great discussion point though.

Maybe the best way to pick your team is to exclude your own players. Then put your recomendations of who you think have been your best 5 players for your team and where they have played just below your selections.
