Maybe it's the responsibility of the program's staff (talent, sports science and coaching) to ensure their depth players are capable of performing in the absence of the guns.

I suspect you will see Eastern and Oakleigh facing off some time in September. When they did so in April, at full strength, Oakleigh took the points despite losing Answerth to a season ending neck injury.
Yeah that's fair enough

Eastern where without Mynott if I recall. Eastern didn't have a matchup for Wooler in that game and their defence is still their weakness and it's the opposite with Oakliegh with their defence being rock solid. Should be a good game either way I'm still unsure on who will win it all this year but Sandringham have some guns and Dandenong could suprise if they keep a fit squad

For the non draft expert is this impressive??
I wouldn't say impressive but knowing he can handle himself against senior bodies now is a good sign. If he did it in the Seniors then he would be approaching top 20 quality. Martini and Fogarty also played in that game and had much quitter games

Darcy Fogarty will miss the rest of the year with knee surgery. He will remain my number 1 ranked player unless a player lifts their output significantly. Im sticking to my guns with Fogarty im not to worried with his championships form because of his injury and ill be basing this off his form before the injury.

He will definitely be the most interesting to watch on draft night

Jackson to debut for Glenelg A grade against the Crows SANFL in Bordertown on the weekend, Stefan Giro to debut in the SANFL A grade for Norwood on the weekend as well.

I've had a good hard look at this weeks games deliberately targeting what to look for in the draft. I've tried to target what types of players you need and once I feel you need a certain type I then see those types fail and other types do well. It's difficult to say but a few things I'm certain on

It doesn't matter how quick you are but it does help in certain areas

You can have great skills but it doesn't matter if it isn't judged on pressure situations

You don't need to be an athletic tall to be effective but you must be a good mark and smart decision maker

Smart players are an abolsute must and ones who are also leaders and or have a great contested game are worth their weight in gold

Did watching nearly every game this week help me in deciding on players this year? No, not really haha. We will start to see some players announce themselves in the finals and players that do usually get picked in the draft. I'll try to get to as many finals as possible for this reason. I will keep studying as many games as I can before the end of the year to finalise my thoughts on what makes a good AFL player and in the coming weeks I feel my rankings will change significantly

Did you see the big fella from the Bushies kick 8?

Didn't get to see any TAC games apart from the game on YouTube between Dandy and Gippy. Johnston continues to kick bags of goals, i really don't care for the excuses people make for him not getting drafted I still think he is worth a shot late at least

I'd rookie him for sure. Like plenty of KPP/rucks this season.

What I like compared to the other FPP/rucks from this year is his consistency, no matter the team he plays he finds a way to hit the scoreboard and he can handle himself in the ruck just fine, if he doesn't win the tap he tackles and keeps involved. From what I've seen lately De Koning is now being groomed as a Ruckman, I still know of a few clubs that like him despite his hot and cold form

I reckon his team trust him enough to get it to him plenty of times. He's a genuine old school deep forward/ruck. They like to bang it in deep and it gives him plenty of chances one-out.

I reckon you could've kicked a bag against the Pios Hedge - their tall defenders are very average and 'Plugger' Johnson out of the goalsquare had a field day.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

For anyone who has doubted Hunter Clarks talent go watch his game against Gippsland that is on YouTube. Almost single-handedly got them over the line I'd say it's his best game of the year for sure

Any word on the list for the state combine? Would have thought it would have come out yesterday?

I know Dragons have 11 invited to the state combine. Makes a total of 17 for the club. Should be released publicly on Monday.
