I dont know if people know this about daicos. Today i read the book of ricky nixon and in chapter 7 he wrote aboy Daicos at the end of 1994 and how he nominated for the draft and Essendon were gonna get him if it wasnt for some board members. Daicos was ready to go to Essendon. Thank god he didnt.

i hope his sons will acheive the same things he did, also throw in buckleys sons, i have also heard that jason wilds kids are awesome.

From memory I don't think he ever nominated for that draft? I thought he was back and forth on whether to nominate, but in the end decided against it?

Correct me if I am wrong.

Well he might not have nominated, what ricky nixon said in his book was he was sitting with daics in his office and he was filling out the form that would allow him to get picked up by any afl and at the time sheedy was very interested in Daics and so was Essendon but Nixon later found out that a board meeting over ruled sheedy and they didnt not pick him up. So i think he must have nominated for the draft.

This us totally wrong.
Sheedy was appointed coach of Essendon in 1981,
Daicos started playing for Collingwood in 1979.
From what I recall Daicos was recruited from Preston, which was in Collingwoods drafting zone.
I remember his first game and his class was evident at the start.

^ He's talking about the 1993 draft mate which was after he was given the boot by Matthews.
Yep was after Matthews cut Daicos from our list

I get it.
I was living o/seas when Daicos got dumped.
F***en Matthews is a w***er making Daics retire early.
I am glad that he did not get picked up by anyone.
This way we have exclusive rights to him.

^ I don't think you can blame Matthews as i really think Daicos was physically shot. His knees were wrecked.

It's great though that he never played on one year too many at another club. I'm glad Daics came to his senses.

It would have been terrible for him to get pick up by anyone else especially Essendon. I hope he becomes an assistant coach when Bucks becomes coach, he would have been handy now but its unfortunate he and Mick dont get along.

My memory was that Matthews said at the time it was either him or Shaw, as he couldn't carry two 33+ year olds on the list. Probably a fair call with Daics knees, but no less devastating at the time!

Ludicrously stupid, played entirely different positions

Even as a stay at home forward daics would have been dangerous, if he felt he had the year in him (which he did) I would have backed him in.

Never know now though, and thankfully he didn't end up at essendon
