Six of the eight teams have made injury-related list changes before the start of the NAB AFL Women's competition on Friday night.
  • Brisbane Lions have elevated Gabby Collingwood for the injured Renee Cowan
  • Magpies have brought ex-volleyball player Eliza Hynes and Holly Whitford onto the list for Darcy Guttridge and Ashleigh Brazill.
  • Fremantle has elevated Lisa Webb for Kiara Bowers; Greater Western Sydney has added Elle Bennetts in place of Alexandra Saundry
  • Melbourne has brought in Erin Hoare for Ainslie Kemp.
  • Western Bulldogs have added Bonnie Toogood and Naomi Ferres to their list to replace Ellyse Gamble and Kim Ebb.
A NEW umpiring signal will be seen on grounds during NAB AFL Women’s matches, with a "lasso" gesture used to indicate a free kick for last touch.
Weekend Radio

SEN will broadcast the Friday night match between Carlton and Collingwood. It is not broadcasting any of the other games for the weekend.

Adelaide

Top Crows draft pick Jess Allan has predicted the AFLW will rise to another level after completing her first summer of training alongside premiership sister and teammate Sarah.

Jenna McCormick will be unavailable for Adelaide’s AFLW game against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night as she fulfils her commitments with Adelaide United in the W-League. McCormick explains how she juggles playing two codes in the latest BHP Down to Earth video.

Carlton

After years of success playing professional basketball, just one glimpse at last years AFLW launch was enough to convince 26-year-old Kerryn Harrington to make the switch to football. One year on, the lifelong Blues fanatic may be set to debut on the very ground where she witnessed the historic, career-changing spectacle.

Collingwood

Eliza Hynes has plenty of lessons to offer her Collingwood teammates, even though she's on the steepest of AFLW learning curves. The former national-level volleyballer is coming into the second NAB AFL Women's season having played just four games of Australian Football, after the club recruited her as a rookie midway through last year.

Fremantle

Amy Lavell is expecting a stiff challenge for Freo when they start the second NAB AFL Women’s season, taking on the Western Bulldogs on Sunday at VU Whitten Oval. The vice captain says she’s seen improvement across the board at pre-season training as Freo takes on the lessons from a tough opening season.

VFLW

Chelsea Mitchell has signed on to Hawthorn’s VFL Women’s side. Despite only having two seasons of football under her belt, the former professional gymnast has quickly taken to the game. After a season playing for her high school team in 2016, Mitchell was picked up by the Oakleigh Chargers in 2017 and managed five games in her debut TAC Cup season. She joins brother, Tom at Hawthorn.
