Opinion Daisy does not Respect Bucks?

Dave, I love your passion and what you contribute to this forum, but this is one of the most ridiculous threads I have seen in a long time. The media will do anything to mess with us. There was nothing in it.

Just ignore the media's rubbish. They are just rubbing it in and blowing every little thing out of proportion. You should know that by now. There is no "crisis", or any other crap they are trying to tell us, at our club.

Remember 2009? We were thrashed by Carlton early on in the season and then won the next 12 out of 13 matches.

It's only round 4, not the finals. We'll be kicking arse before you know it!:thumbsu:

Well I respect it more than The Footy Show Ones,

Dermet did not say it as a Rumour but as Fact and had his Evidence that looked very Compelling in my eyes

Dermott, let me give you a synopsis on Dermott.

In Leon's very first game he bagged the hell out of him announcing him as the worst player to ever play on the Collingwood list. Despite some amazing performances, and 2 out his last 3 years being in the AA team, Dermie not once ever acknowledged that Leon ever played a good game. Why? Because Dermie thinks his opinion is fact, and if he says something once he will never change his opinion.
Although people like to think dermie knows what he's talking about I think his analyses are very thin and one tracked, in other words, he is living in the 80's with his opinions.
Win a few games and no one gives a s***. Was anyone writing stuff about Medhurst and Lockyer and Fraser hating Malthouse in 2010 when he basically kept them all in the VFL that year?

I never said there was a Crisis. I was just saying that maybe Bucks and Daisy are not very close.

Does not mean Daisy is playing Poorly for and Looked the Opposite when Bucks Challanged Daisy he went to Top Gear

If some players are in fact unhappy and petulant about the change of coach, I'd love to see them and the club burn their contracts up.

I'd like to hear some support from the players referred to and if they can't give that, they are fair game in the next draft.

This is schoolyard stuff, getting along with the coach. We need men like Geelong has had who motivate themselves, not this teenage philosophy.

I remember the pre season game against Melbourne and I thought Dale Thomas was extremely slack and cost us 2 goals. He looked to me like he wasn't interested, so if there is any truth, Dale better get his act together or they can get rid of him.

Just saw in Normal Speed and I have to say you could not even Tell if you where not looking for it.

So It does look like Nothing and Maybe it was the Old "How You Like that Bucks"

From a Geelong supporter's view:

Dermie is a Hawthorn man. The Hawks see Collingwood as a threat. Dermie is sticking the knife in and causing mischief. Half truths.

Old Geelong coach Bobby Davis once sent a runner to tell Doug Wade to pull his finger out. Davis could see Wade yelling something back to the runner. When the runner got back Davis asked him what Wade said. The runner replied that his job was to send the coach's messages out to the players and not the other way around. Gosh, Daisy glared at the coaches box. Its the end of the world. ;)

So the lesson to be learnt is - next time maybe go back and check it before creating a useless thread such as this.

Didn't Daisy have an interview where he admitted he was looking in the general vicinity of Bucks and it was all just a bit of fun? I'm sure I saw/heard it somewhere. To me (as I recall it was played out in interview) it just seemed like Bucks asked for more at half time, and Daisy being his somewhat flamboyant self, told Bucks with his eyes and body language "is that what you wanted?"

The funny thing about it is if we were flying and 3-0, we would probably get the opposite statements from the media. "Oh isn't it fantastic to see a player do something after being given a bit of a roast by his coach", or "it's great to see the relationship between Bucks and Thomas is that strong."

It was on nova. Bucks asked dale to lift. Dale obviously lifted in the opening seconds, he said he looked in the general direction of the box and it was a "hey coach I lifted for you" look. Nothing bad about it.

Completely over all this kind of this rubbish.

Change is inevitable. If there is even the slightest bit off truth in all the rumour and innuedo sprouted by the media about player dissension then I think the players need to get over it. Mick was never going to stay forever, nor should he.

The players have a job to do and they are payed a fortune to do it. Coaches do have an important role as motivators and leaders, but the players have to a least meet the coach half way.

Meanwhile as suporters I think we should try to pay scant regard to the 'opinions' of the media.

I think long term this bad start to the year will be a blessing.

The loss to Carlton showed we have fallen back and players need to lift. We have a goal to aim for something we did not have last year as we were the yardstick until rd 24.

Injuries mean we will get important games into our youngsters that will help with their development and our depth. Keefe is an example. We still have a good 20-22 players. Injuries can make this 28 come finals time if we are there, if not it will help next year.

The attacks on the club and the group should bring the team closer and help those who have not bought into Bucks, buy in. This is not a knock on anyone just that it takes some people longer to adapt to change.

As for Daisy does not respect Bucks, how could you know him, know what he stands for and not respect him. The way he handled the press this week a glowing example.

The conflict has been a good thing as it has made the players choose and they only have one choice as mick no longer coaches.

As for the Leon thing with Mick. An Essendon recruiter at the time told me the pies were lucky to get Leon as they rated him the outright sixth best player in the draft, however like a lot of clubs steered clear as they he did not say a word and they were a 100% positive he was likely to go home. The pies bent over backwards to make it work with leon Davis and he certainly repaid us. The bond with Mick is incredibly unique so should not be seen as a slight on Bucks.

Only regret is why did Mick not try Leon back earlier than 2011?

Yep, it was all light hearted and he said that after the game Bucks asked him about it and it was all good fun.

It's hardly a 'scoop' if the player himself is the one who told the story the Monday after the game on Nova.

Assuming we win this weekend I would love to see every player behind Bucks at the press conference as a symbolic message to say we are all behind the coach and we are all committed to the cause. I wouldn't answer any questions about why they are there or have the players say anything just leave it as a symbolic message. Let the media create the storm as if to say wow that was a powerful message.

Wont happen but :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I don't buy into the fact that players don't respect Bucks. I think it is more the transition that is affecting the guys. I'm not referring just to the playing style but also the difference in coaching philosophy that Bucks brings.

Players have come out and stated that Bucks is more of a teacher rather than a motivator. His philosophy is more to provide the players with the environment for them to essentially self-motivate.

I don't necessarily disagree with Buckley's philosphy per se however I think that there needs to be some form of balance. In a way players are empowered to take the initiative and with senior guys like Pendles, Swan, Thomas etc you would expect not to have a problem with this however some of our younger blokes like Paine, Seedsman, Sinclair etc may need more help that IMO should come from the coaching staff as well as the playing leadership group. Mick was able to get young players to really take on games for a reason and I think that we should not mess with that.

Either way I think it is more transition than anything. I think that some players may be getting used to more responsibility but these guys are professionals and once expectations are set should embrace it. I also think that Bucks will be wise enough to self assess how things are going and may adjust his style with the younger group. Obviously I'm making assumptions on the inner workings of the club and could be totally wrong.

End of the day though, the only way that we will stop these stories is with some strong performances by the playing group. Players are going to look pissed when they are playing like shite and losing like we did last week.

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to the rubbish the media is trying to tell us.

I just hate reading this stuff when it is obviously untrue. Dermott Brereton isn't exactly a credible media figure, is he?

I would love to see this, but unfortunately the odds of it happening seem pretty slim.

Just on League Teams Dermie made a Very Good Point ...

stop reading right there, Dermie says a lot of stuff - like anyone else its just an observation and an uneducated one at this point as he is not inside the club.

Until someone actually inside the club puts some truth to it (unlikely even if true) then it's all nothing more than rumours and observations.

If we're going to take what everyone says as gospel, we are gone this Saturday because well-known Collingwood hater Barry Hall has tipped Port.

Well Brereton got good value with this piece of crap...

Most of the time, he is too full of himself to see past the mirror, but when it comes to distablising opposing teams, he shows a little more sophistication.

Buckley said that he spoke to Thomas at half time during the half time break. He also said that he reacted fantastically to the criticism. Brereton puts his own spin on the episode but does it in "caring superstar" method. I've giving a message to the lad approach...what crap.

I almost choked on my dinner when I heard Brereton say that there's no need to "showboat". From Brereton???? Is this the same guy as the one that played for Hawthorn and Sydney and Collingwood and any other team that was willing to part with the cash? The rest of the panel just sat there with their mouths open, too gutless to challenge their team leader.

Perhaps Sheedy gives the perfect demonstration on how to deal with Dermie the superstar Derminator. They give him a few thousand bucks and dress it up in a contract. They bring him to Sydney and put him in front of GWS team and let him take training for a night. Then Dermie comes back and tells the world how smart the GWS coaches are and how fantastic the new club is. Why pay for advertising on Fox when Dermie will do it for free?

Meanwhile, Sheedy is quietly taking the GWS boys to one side and pointing out to them the riches that can be made in AFL and post AFL, if you have confidence in your ability....even if that confidence is mis-placed. And that was the real reason that they brought Dermie to Sydney. GWS want to inject confidence into their players and Dermie is cheaper than getting Donald Trump in for the night. Dermott will tell you that GWS got him to Sydney because he knows about forward play.....only Dermie the Derminator would believe that line..

It was an Observation and I was making it sound like that and until a Player actually says that then it just that Observation and Chinese Wispers

youve got a thread for your random thoughts dave. ;)

This was not a Random Thought though I did think of putting it there but I thought this needed it's own Thread as a lot of people would of seen it
