From the Saints website today, Dal Santo says:

"TOO many passengers and poor skill execution are to blame for the Saints’ fall from grace this season, not game-style or structures, according to play-maker Nick Dal Santo. The classy onballer says criticism of the club’s perceived switch in game-style under new coach Ross Lyon is exaggerated, and flaws in skills and commitment from some players are reasons for St Kilda’s miserly return of four wins from 11 matches.
'We’ve been competitive in a lot games for two-and-half and three quarters. But at this level you can’t compete for four quarters with individuals or four, five, six guys carrying another 16,' he said."

So, who do we reckon he's talking about? Blake? Gwilt? Rix? Birss? Could he also be being a little autobiographical: he's let taggers get the better of him in a few games - not many, but a few - and Dal has pretty high self-standards.

Apparently, this all came out of a post-match meeting after Sunday, and the whole thing was very "cleansing", Dal says. If we get more top-echelon players fit, and the lower echelon players left in the side realize there's no more free-rides (Blake just seems to be the ETERNAL replacement for whoever's over 190cm and injured), we might start winning a few.

I like your posts in general, but this quote is just pre arranged regurgitated crap.

It is true that the saints as a unit need to step up. I have often said (despite emotional rants!) that it is the players who need to take responsibility. I reckon coaches are given far too much credit for results. I reckon I could coach West Coast to a flag or two. And it would be some after party!

It doesnt help when 2 of your three captains cant hit a target or kick a goal from 15 metres out week in week out. As they say, the fish rots at the head.
Thank God for Lenny.
