Must have been one of the most difficult defenders to get a kick on in recent history, alongside the likes of Max Hudghton, Scarlett, Prestigicomo, McPharlin etc.

Criminally underrated.

All the best, Dale.

Is that true ? 1 Brownlow vote ..... what a sham that award is
Which games should he have gotten Brownlow votes in that he didn't? Hard to foresee too many matches or situations where a negating defender will be unanimously adjudged to be among the best three players on the ground, even if they do play well.

Morris injures ACL

Sad this could be the end to one of his club’s most inspirational players ever and certainly one of the unsung players of the modern game.

Will always be remembered for playing the 2016 finals series with a fractured vertebrae and that tackle on Buddy
Seriously, with the number of serious injuries this guy has had (has played a 252 of a possible 324 games since being drafted), and his age (turned 36 in December), why is he even still playing?

I can't remember that I'm not even a Dogs fan but I remember plenty of times he's blanketed the oppo key fwd and picked up 20 himself surely they could have put him in for a few 1 voters out of all the good games he played

He's had a grand total of 8 H&A games where he's had 20+ disposals, and the Dogs have won 6 of them. One of them happened to be a 101-point loss, too.

When you take into account how the voting system works, I don't think he's necessarily been that hard done by.

A better measure of overall performance would be a ranking system that awards every player a vote in every game (eg. best gets 44 votes, 2nd best 43, etc., through to worst on ground getting one vote), as that would also take into account consistency too. Unless they tie it to some sort of statistical/numerical system though (eg. the Champion Data Player Ranking Score), it'd probably be even more arbitrary and cause far more pointless quibbling over inches ("He was 25th-best, not 24th!") than the current system does.

You are right when you say ' taking into account the voting system ' but that's the problem isn't it , the Brownlow's supposed to be a best player award but hundreds of worse players end up with more votes than someone like Morris , it doesn't really make sense in that regard

Fair enough, but the way some people argue it is almost like negating defenders should be getting double-figure Brownlow votes each year under the current 3-2-1 system, which is never really going to happen, and not really "deserving", either.
