Thread starter #1,576
Paige HotPies AKA I talk a lot of shit and have a rubbish SC website has tweeted that DT is meeting with Carlton today and that they have up'd their offer. Also says that Hawk's are set to make a hug bid at DT. She, along with every other mung around here says she has a source!
Go back to the first post in this thread, I said Hawthorn were the other party he was interested in.

He met with Carlton yesterday, trying to get an update but its not easy.

I would at her him go to Carlton hands down than the Hawks. Carlton won't do crap next year while I am expecting the Hawks to be a good chance at going back to back.

i hope GWS come flying in now with a massive deal for him now, just to f**k off the scum....(on the assumption that he wants out)

What i don't understand, is that there are talks that Hawthorn are going to match Sydney's offer just to create a trade scenario to force the Swans to give up Mumford and their first round selection for Buddy. Hawthorn in that case would know he would leave.

Collingwood has the cash to match the Dale Thomas offer, so why not force the scum into a trade. Despite his injury issues, he is worth more than Pick 11. So why not force them to give up something for him? Would we still receive the compensation for him if he fell through to the draft? or is that the reason why we wouldn't even bother matching it?

Because they wouldn't want to risk leaving him to the draft with GWS probably keen to start sniffing around.

Could we expect better than pick 11 from them considering they don't have a pick that low or a player they'd give up to match it?

who knows with that club. I assume Yarran would be on the trade table, and couple that with one of their picks...

But for me, its about bleeding them dry.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but i would rather have pick 12 or 13 from Carlton than pick 11 from the free agency compensation because it robs them of the chance to pick up a first round draft selection. I would sacrifice moving down a spot or two just so they had to pay something for him.

Nope.

Compensation picks are for if the player in question leaves as a Free Agent.

If he goes into the draft, we get nothing.

for those suggesting he wouldn't go to the Copeland - I don't get it. do we think the club will go all spurned lover on him (not unlike some supporters), it is a business, the club picks em and cuts em at will. The players are expected to suck it up and not be a bad sport, use it to fire them up etc., They will get delisted or forced into retirement in the end, with everyone nodding sagely that the game has passed them by. daisy will go to the copeland, leaving or no, he is a premiership player and until he leaves a collingwood player, whether its liked or not.

I hope he stays furked ankles and all, but will not be churlish if he doesn't. It is his life and his career and he can do with it what he will. This includes living to regret ever going near the scum.

Assuming he goes, it's more the way he leaves than the fact he is leaving. Although the Franklin move has been massive news, the way he has conducted himself throughout has been pretty classy. Can't say the same about Daisy.

He's kept it quieter but 'classy' is not really what pops to mind about Buddy. Treachorous, underhanded and traitorious pop up though.

Pickers comes across as an arrogant doofus but he is a masterful manager. How this stayed quiet the whole time is strangely a credit to all involved!

I get what you are saying - I think, but how is franklin approaching sydney just after his team lost a grannie to them classy?

He has kept it out of the media though, whereas every week daisy has been staying/going maybe who knows. Not sure whose fault that is I guess partly daisy and partly essendon for not swallowing all media space, it has been incredibly frustrating. I'm fairly convinced he is going though and will be saddened by his departure as when on song he is amazing to watch.

Classy maybe not the right word, but I prefer the way they've done it as opposed to Thomas. No public bidding war, no will he/won't he, no hoo haa basically. All the work done in the background without it being played out through the media.

Carlton's recruiting manger Shane Rogers was just on Trade Week Radio.

- Quietly confident they will get Thomas
- Quite comfortable with his Medical, ankle isn't a concern for them
- Waiting on Thomas's manager to let them know what he plans to do

Agree. Staggering that they have been able to keep it quiet really. Imagine the look on the Sydney guys faces when Buddy walks in the door and says come get me. Huge effort to keep it under wraps
