Just wondering where you guys see him playing next year, because from the outside looking in i see him maybe as an angus monfries a pure hff with the ablity to have a few bursts in the middle. So where would you guys like to see him play?

he is at his best a wing men/rover the thing is he needs to learn when and where to gut run

He is also that much better then monfries its annoying you are even comparing them

The only question about thomas in the middle/wing is will he get the tank, I've seen him come off early in the first quarter and look destroyed, but he still has been damaging in the middle and then later in the season we saw him on the hff or hbf just wondering if the plans for thomas next year are on the HFF or HBF, or if they might change. PS comparing monfries to thomas isn't that outlandish both are good players

Cmon the comparison is stupid, Thomas is taller, faster, has a better leap, can play tall or small, has a good defensive side and can tag, has better endurance, can go forward or back and is only 22?

I never seen Monfries win a game off his own boot, let alone a final.

Monfries is more like Medhurst.

As for Dales position I think he will play a few roles, defensive forward, attacking forward, tagger and off the half backline.

We have been waiting 2 years for him to have a solid breakout season, he took some major steps this year, he now has a very solid defensive side, so that may even see him in the roll of an onballer now we have Ball, Swan, Beams and Obree as insiders.

Would love to see him get played as a running HBF player for about 12 rounds i think it might help him to develop further into a Midfielder

To answer the questions i think he will be played HFF and Wing

:thumbsu: Thats for that but anyway i was just using monfries as an example of a player thats was meant to become a midfielder but is being better used some where else. But back on topic i really like Beep idea because with Ball it really frees up scotty to play an outside in your midfield meaning thomas doesn't need to be that oustide mid with speed. Although if dale can get his tank up he could be a really good wingman

Yeah Thomas does not have a Great Tank. Think we knew that when we drafted him. Though him going early to Arizona makes me think we want to improve in that Area.

Could see him being a Wingman/Outside Mid with his Speed and Run and Carry

i hate it when supporters bag there own players and i refrain from doing it on most occasions but one player i can find an excuse to bag is daisy.
i can see why rival supporters dont rate him, he goes missing way too much and for someone of his talent seems doesnt seem to impact on games as much as other players of his status.
i think Monfries is a very handy player, and although i think daisy is probably the more talented player and will probably be the better player in the long run, the comparision at this stage in their careers is quite fair.
Daisy needs to focus more on gettin the footy and less on trying to get his face on T.V

The comparisons between Daisy & Monfries are fair.
Whilst they don't always play the same role, their contributions to their respective teams are similar.
Good but not great thus far.

All you need to do now is say something negative about Rusling and you will be the Collingwood Boards most hated

Sorry To Change Subject : I flew home from LAX to Melbourne last night with the Collingwood team, spoke to Ball about new club and was very excited about his new start.
Also spoke to Travis Cloke and NO he has not injured his knee that is bullshit he said !!!!
The boys were well behaved on plain too, all look very fit but tired. We all landed at 10am this morning.

Couldn't you have asked this in the other Dale Thomas thread? This should be merged with the other one.

To answer your question, midifielder with stints in the forward line.

Good news about Trav then!:):thumbsu:

HFF is where he will become elite IMO.

Lets face it, there is an "over obsession" with all players having to become midfielders, when their best work can be done elsewhere.

Midfielders are a dime a dozen. They are in abundance and common.

Classy and elite HFF are rare. There are only afew in the comp i.e. Didak, Chappy, SJ and the Porpoise. All of these guys have the ability to push high up the ground in one of the most difficult positions on the ground whilst maintaining the ability to impact the scoreboard heavily via goals or assists.

Personally, I see most of Daisy's best work and damage factor around half-forward with Didak on the other flank. Both can rotate with bursts in the midfield.

I tend to agree with this not every playersr needs to become a mid, although u need to get your hands on the ball first you need good small and mid sized fowards and thomas could really do that

haha, well i do think Rusling is relatively lucky to still be on the list but he is probably desearved of one last crack at it.
I thought J-mac was the untouchable on this board, for someone who has done close to nothing he sure has his fair share of fans.
At least Rusling has shown what he is capable of
