I thought it was overrated . . . he didn't pass anyone, he just ran to 30 and kicked it, big deal . . . right? People are comparing it to the boundary line goal he kicked against Geelong, i don't understand why, that was a much better effort.

To me i think the WC goal was much better. That goal came at a time when WC had all the momentum running into half time. That goal essentially arressted any momentum that WC had and from there Collingwood didn't look back. Skill wise Daisy's goal against Geelong was better, but that was in junk time when the game was finished

Unfair to say that there was no one near him in the WC goal when he took off from the middle of a pack, and people were chasing him.

It's not his fault that there was no one that could catch him...

Catch him? Did you see the two shepherds applied by the Collingwood players clearing up the path for him?

Thought it was a good team goal.

Michael Long's goal in the 1993 Grand Final would have to be the benchmark on running goals. Thomas' was nowhere near as good.

For Thomas that goal will be 1st of Many Like That and Long Type Goals:)

Maybe so, but they will never be as good as Michael Long's goal. Michael Long has talent. Dale Thomas doesnt. He's a tool.
Yep - No talent.

That's why he kicked the one the week before against Geelong, and why he has kicked a multitude of amazing goals already in his career - Because of a complete and total lack of talent.

Each exhibiting less talent than the last

it was a great goal but wasnt as good as his goal the week before
As has been said already though, it's not entirely about the quality of the goal itself, but also the situation - West Coast had kicked five of the last six goals, or something to that effect, and the lead was down around 20 points, and Dale popped up with that goal to put the foot squarely back on the jugular, and West Coast were never heard from again.

Long is a filthy dog, absolute coward. God i hope Thomas never gets compared to that mongrel again.

Only thing Long is remembered for is being a whiny dog.

donsman do you watch footy?? didn't think so judging by your comments, if you get drafted in to the AFL you have talent might be limited might be extreme talent either way you don't get drafted with out a glimpse of talent..
tool.

not having a go at dale thomas, just didn't think that goal against WCE was anything extraordinary . . . Anyway, speaking of GOTY, i didn't rate motlop's goal initially, but i have much more respect for motlop's goal now that i saw him on Sports Tonight doing it again for the cameras at training.

It's not a hard goal to kick at training. It is a hard goal to kick on the big stage, under pressure from the opposition.

I'm talking about Motlop's by the way.

So he's goal against geelong isnt as good? the game was already over and meant nothing in the scheme of things??

The goal against the WCE wasnt anything special. There was no player chasing him and ran into an open gaol from 30 out.

I think Lovett's against Carlton in round 3 was better. He was getting chased the whole way and kicked it at full pace from about 55 out.

Best goal so far this year is McPhee. Rioli's goal was good but a fluke as he was passing to the hawk player at top of goal square.
