Apprently we are the first team to be 1 - 5 and not lose any games by more the 7 pts. We have been in every match but killed ourselves with our stupidity and, of late, our weak ass defense.

Wade's main calling card was his defense. It has been terrible this year and i cannot see how he can function a HC if his DC duties deserve him to be sacked. We need a new secondary coach and a new HC (not Garrett) at least.

Romo being gone is terrible, at least it is not his throwing arm and maybe he can spend his time tudoring Mcgee. Hopefully this will ge tthem to take our O-line issues seriously. It will be a long dark season unfortunately.
See this as a blessing in disguise.. JJ clears the deck in the off-season that many Cowboys fans have wanted all along (so I hear).. giving Wade Phillips the flick and getting a 'Top 10' draft pick can only help this team rebound in the short term. Make-up of the roster isn't as poor as other 1-5 teams so it's a matter of the fudging out (read: subtle tanking) games without getting blow out of the water. That's all you Dallas fans can hope for.. I would think.

also, what's the chances JJ hires a black coach?

I'm all for tanking... (funny, not really for it in AFL, not really against it either... but I guess in AFL with priority picks and crap its a lil more of a rort).

I honestly think we don't have to try to tank though... this team is cursed... or Romo is... would be kinda funny if Kitna lead this team on a run in an attempt to make the playoffs lol But personally I want them to play McGee give the kid a chance to prove if he is up to it or not.

Remember the Rams game from '08? Romo injured, old man as backup throwing pick after pick, opposition RB running riot, QB close to perfect rating, result never in doubt, total debacle against a poor team. By golly 08 was a weird season ultimately ending in mediocrity which is worse than totally imploding. Hopefully this is a wakeup call for Jerry

"I don't think there is anybody in the world who would doubt that I'm willing to do something hard," Jones said. "I'm willing to do something that doesn't feel good to me."

Can only hope he is referring to hiring a real GM, not a marketer or businessman but a football guy, or at least hiring a decent coach and allowing them to hire their own staff.
What will Jerry do, everyone can see the Wade era is doomed, but can he? Even Wade's renowned D hasn't come to fruition.
I remember thinking (hoping) when he was hired that even though he was a soft head coach, that his D credentials would compensate,
but juggling both has stuffed everything up, not to mention having a novice running the O whom the head coach didn't even hire

STRONG Rumours right now around the traps that Wade will be gone by Wednesday. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

All to late if you ask me and if Garett gets the gig i will be shattered and he needs to be shown the door as well.

My wish for next year is Chucky Gruden to be our HC as we need the hardness he has and the accountability he demands.

Not much else to report really from a shocking day and Dez Bryant is the only shining light in what has turned out to be a woeful season.

Gruden would be a good get, but he's not going to be the sort of guy who will be willing to be a Jerry Jones puppet. He'd need some assurances that he'd be given considerable autonomy.

I'd be happy for Garrett to get the gig just to see what he can offer. Better him getting it now, if he is terrible, then winning the HC position at the end of the year and getting a number of years to stink out the place.

Only solace from today was that Houston won their first game of the NBA season. 1-5 there. God i know how to pick 'em.

Hmm, Jerry didn't appear to do his customary post-match interview after this game, certainly nothing on the website.

Wonder if he avoided the press to avoid having to be put on the spot about Phillips.

I reckon Wade is goneski.

Asked this way and that about Wade Phillips' job status, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones chose not to comment following Sunday's humiliating 45-7 loss to Green Bay.

But when he was asked about how he is keeping his senses during a five-game losing streak in which the Cowboys went from at least being competitive to utterly embarrassed, Jones seemed to open up about not only the coach but everything in the organization.

"I think there are a lot of people here that certainly are going to suffer and suffer the consequences," Jones said. "I'm talking within the team, players, coaches. They've got careers, and this is certainly a setback. I know firsthand what it is to have high expectations. I think that unquestionably our expectations were thinking we were something we weren't ... But again, we have so many things that we need to correct and address as this game so vividly exposed and previous games have. So I've got a lot of work to do, a lot of decisions to make, and it's not just one, two, three or four. There are several decisions. I think everybody in this country would agree there's a lot wrong with this team. We've got to address them and certainly I'm the one to address them."

During his radio appearance on The Fan last Friday, Jones answered "yes" when asked if Phillips would be the Cowboys coach for the rest of the season. On Sunday he would not even take the question, but he said he will meet with the players on Monday.
So in response to the Wade question, Jones has gone from flatout saying "He's staying" to "no comment".

Tick...tick...tick...

Wouldn't surprise me to see Wade come out tomorrow and announce he is quitting. If he does not do this he is just a dead man walking and he knows this.

The last thing i want is Garrett to be given the job for the remainder of the season and we win a few games relegate our draft position and then Garrett gets the HC job. Garrett is destined for failure with us and he needs to be held accountable as much as Wade does.

Wade is definitely gone because JJ wants to talk to the players.

That's owner-speak for "if the coach has lost the players then the players need a new coach, someone they can believe in and work with, because the talent is there, just the desire, techniques, and strategies arent being taught properly and absorbed."

Well one thing is for sure ... losing the quarterback does not make the defence give up 45 points, although it is not as though the offense are giving them great field position, and I guess a couple of those TDs come from offensive turnovers.

Even our running game is not working.

ARLINGTON --Training at the NFL's Cowboys Stadium was delayed nearly two hours this morning, after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the ground.
Initially the NFL team thought it was a prank. Training was immediately suspended, while Police and Homeland Security officials were called to investigate.
After a complete analysis, Dallas Police forensic experts determined that the white substance, unfamiliar to most of the players, was in fact, the goal line.
Practice resumed this afternoon after Police and Homeland Security decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

***WEATHER ALERT***

In the case of a tornado in the DFW area, please head directly to Cowboy Stadium.

Chances of a touchdown there are unlikely!

you just gotta laugh, no point getting upset now!

Nothing huge, but Wade is a no show so far today at Valley Ranch...

IRVING -- As of 9 a.m. CT on Monday, Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips was not seen at Valley Ranch.
His leased SUV which is parked outside the scouting department's office was not there, but that doesn't mean the coach was fired. Phillips is taking heat following a 45-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night which has put his team's losing streak at five games.

Yep, just woke up and read the same thing on the NFL website.

Thanks for your efforts Wade, but it just wasn't working.

Garrett will be head coach in the interim.

Surely they have to go the tank from here. Nothing gained by going 5-11 or 4-12

Then again, I don't like the idea of Jerry having the number one pick in his hands. God knows who he might take

Having the top pick is a bad thing for Dallas atm - He would likely have to take a Luck type to get his dollars worth.

A RB in the top 5 would be a reach. Peterson would be a reach in the top 3, but would be worth it to solidify CB. I just don't see an olineman worth taking, which would mean they would have to use their 2nd on that position.

Can't trade down from 1st or second overall for the most part either which forces your hand.

Never know who might be cleaned out/traded in the post-season Zarko and what slots that may open up.

Hard to see a high draft pick as a curse. ;)

Peterson looks alright to me.
