I know it's not really the most appropriate time to bring it up given the Giants circumstances, but what are some legit opinions on Murray going forward? I wasn't really a fan at all of the Murray pick, and although he looked electric at times, the bulk of his damage was done in four games against less than stellar teams before getting injured. I think the oline coming together helped tremendously, even if it wasn't the best performing oline out there.

253 yards vs St Loo at home, which was always going to be a blow out
74 yards at 9.3 a pop @ Philly, in a blowout loss, which opened up lanes somewhat, even if the playcalling went away from him too early.
139 yards vs Seattle, a team that was tremendous at home by the end of the year but mediocre otherwise
135 yards in another blowout win vs Buffalo at home. At the start of their seven game losing streak.
73 yards at 2.9 a pop at the Skins, first game that he struggled with bulk carries.
87 yards vs Miami at home, 4 yards a pop, not bad, hardly special.
38 yards off 12 carries for 3.2 a pop vs the Cards at Arizona.
Giants Game injury

Afterwards, Felix look over and averaged 6, 6.6, 4.9, 6 yards per carry in games vs varying opponent quality wise with varying carry totals, obviously Felix struggles with injury more.

Anyway point being I'm not willing to say I was 100% undoubtedly wrong about Murray yet. Am I that wrong or now that the shine of a ridiculous first starting performance vs St Loo has waned, is anyone in agreeance that the talk was a bit ridiculous considering circumstances?

Still, liked the guy in college, just didn't think he had what it took for the pros. Happy to be proven wrong if he can step up in the future.

If Murray wasn't injured, agree they would've won the NFC East, but....the Cowboys/Romo would've choked anyway, they're not like the Giants in the playoffs who become invincible and go deep or all the way. We'd be looking at a Packers-Patriots SB if the Cowboys had made it.

Romo had 1 bad game this year. Imo tony is the best qb in the nfc east. The guys had a horrible o line. Give him a o line like Eli or Brady's he would have 3 superbowls by now. The guy is CLUTCH.

I'm hoping we can sign Nicks from the saints for our o line in free agency. He would help massively.

I hope we Draft Janoris Jenkins or Dre Kirkpatrick in the first round and sign Cortland Finnegan from the titans in free agency.

While I am satisfied that you are giving Romo credit where it is due, I hope this serves as a lesson to not run vendettas against players unnecessarily.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
Disagree. Romo is crap and we were like 1-6 with him last season. I remember last year Mcgee got us in a winning situation with like 50 seconds to go against the cardinals i think it was but our d blew it.
Mcgee>>>Kitna>>Romo
That's a 4 and a half month about face right there.

I dont even know how anyone could begin to make the Romo > Eli argument this week.

As far as it goes, Romo has never played with less than 2, and sometimes 3 top notch targets. I have trouble buying the 'Romo is great, but isnt on a good enough team' arguments.

Wouldn't expect anything less.

For the record, Eli is clearly the best quarterback in the NFC east. Massive step forward this year.

Have no problem putting Tony second though.

Thats fine, im not sure that the arguments will be reflected in passer rating though.

Vicks not a pure passer no matter how much we try to transform him into one. Time will tell whether he can regather '10 form, or if it was a false hope.

Still, anyone want to argue that Romo doesnt have arguably the best set of weapons in the league?

Wait wait wait - You think Eli's oline is good?

Granted it's not as bad as Dallas' performed last year, but Eli makes his look better than it is, while Romo tends to make trouble for his.

He has potentially the best set of weapons. Just needs to keep them on the park.

Even when we do have Witten, Bryan, Austin, Robinson, Murray and Jones on offense, they don't have nearly enough time to work with.

It's a major source of frustration.

JASON WITTEN COST US THAT GAME AT NEW YORK JETS EARLIER THIS SEASON. The guy is so weak for somebody his size.

An article from 30/1/12 on the top 50 tight ends.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ranking-the-50-best-active-tight-ends/page/35

3. Jason Witten

Lost in the 2011 season was another fantastic performance by Jason Witten, who is making a strong case for future induction into the Hall of Fame.

Witten caught 79 passes for 942 yards and five scores from Tony Romo, finishing with the third-most receiving yards of any tight end. He actually missed the Pro Bowl because of the great seasons by Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzalez, but Witten has seven invitations and five All-Pro selections in his nine years.

He’s a terrific pass catcher in the sense that it almost always takes two or three defenders to bring Witten down.
Honestly, you move from a ridiculous call on Romo to a worse one on Witten. I have to ask if you are swimming upstream deliberately.

Haha, Witten has saved our arse in so many games. He has been our go-to clutch man on third down for years. 2011-12 was not his best season (relative to his exceptionally high standards) but he is a proven, elite tight end and a fantastic servant of the Cowboys.

Honestly ROSEMVP, you're embarrassing yourself now. You are looking childish and reactionary.

Just stop Rose. I am seriously doubting your credibility as a true Cowboy fan and you have not even got them listed as a team supported and the more noise you make the more it confirms my thoughts.

6 Mths ago Romo was crap and McGee should of been starting now you are defending him and have the ugly stick hitting Witten this time.

It is getting old and no wonder a lot of the new Cowboys supporters are jumped on when posting here and you are not helping with the outlandish comments and opinions that change like the wind.

The D Murray injury was what killed us this year and at the worst time.

I did not say Jason Witten was a bad TE. I was saying he is weak for his size.

Little Jimmy Leonard knocked him out of bounds at the 1 yard line. Witten should have steamed in. That would have been game over.

And I say you are being completely reactionary based off minor incidents.

Witten is an elite TE and if he was weak he wouldn't be any good at opening up running lanes for the half back and protecting the QB from beastlike defensive ends and linebackers. This is clearly not the case with Witten. He's a gun.

I find that (and this happens in AFL too) that ignorant people put too much criticism on the best five players. In my experience it is usually your 5 worst players that make the difference in the end, and this has certainly been the case with the Cowboys in recent years. Those few players in key areas who are just not quite up to it that end up costing us dearly.

That play with Witten that you are focusing on very nearly came off... a bit of luck and he scores the game and is a hero. He falls slightly short and you claim he cost us the game. That is a stupid position to take. Incredibly over-simplistic. If Witten genuinely stuffed up on that play... lets say he mistimes his route and doesn't even get in a position to make a play. Romo instead offloads to a receiver on a short slant route instead and who gets tackled for a modest 8 yard gain. You wouldn't have even thought to put that loss on Witten even though he genuinely stuffed up. Yet you crucify him for actually making a play that fell one yard short of winning the game...

To sum up... it's a team game and you are irritating the shit out of people by perpetually trying to scapegoat individual players, let alone ones who have been pretty bloody good.

He is ranked top three for TEs, largely based on how hard he is to bring to ground. Isolated incidents where he is knocked off balance can not be taken as being representative of how strong he is. You can knock anybody off balance if you get them stepping off the wrong foot or midstride.

Some pretty big movements by the Cowboys during the last few days.

First and foremost, Terrance Newman is gawnnnnn.

Sadly, we were unable to hold onto Laurent Robinson who has signed a pretty big deal with Jacksonville. Big shame but it was always going to be hard to hold onto him after his great season. He has earned a big pay day.

We also lost Martellus Bennett to the Giants.

As for the ins, Kyle Orton is probably the most high profile. Will be a handy, experienced backup for Romo in the next few years.

Also picked up from the Chiefs is cornerback Brandon Carr who fills an immediate need.

Also beefed up our offensive line with FB Lawrence Vickers from the Texans and guard Makenzy Bernadeau from the Panthers.

Sounds like we're not done yet though and have more players in our sights.

Hope we can get Abe Elam re-signed soon - I rate him.
