Doncic and Smith can absolutely both play together. Expect lots of guard to guard lobs.

The drafting of Brunson indicates one or both of Curry and Yogi won't be back. Donnie Nelson indicated that Devin Harris would be back. Again.

Still a major big man hole, but the team is clearly eyeing off someone in free agency. Maybe they'll go after a RFA like Capela and hope the he gets squeezed out. Or make a run at Aaron Gordon who have Isaac and Bamba in there.

Or at Cosuins? Trade for Jordan? Some Mavs insiders saying Gortat or Vucevic as stop gaps the most likely scenario.

I think they will throw a max offer sheet at Capela. Call their bluff like they did with Chandler Parsons. At worst, it will force Houston to go a long way into the tax for many years once you factor in Harden's super max, Paul's upcoming 200m, Ariza's payday.

Capela is the perfect fit with Doncic and Smith. I'd throw a max offer at him.

The only downside is it prevents you from offering your money to anyone else. And you know Morey will take the entire 3 days.

Here is a summary of the center options.

Dwight- no.
Cousins- only at a reduced price/years.
Capela- They assume the Rockets will match.
Randle- No great interest.
Favors- not good enough.
Whiteside/Gortat- only if it's part of a deal where Dallas gets something else. Fisher has hypothesised a major deal where Dallas gets Beal.

The 2 favoured targets would be Jordan and Vucevic from Orlando.

Drafting Doncic and Brunson showed the team really prioritised winners over potential. Brunson will be a good player. And another Australian connection (if you're over 30).

Mavs have signed Aussie Ryan Broekhoff on a 2 year deal. Similar type player to Ingles but less playmaking ability. Shot 50% from three last season in Russia

Reading the tea leaves, I think the Mavs are hoping Capela and Smart both sign qualifying offers and become UFAs next year.
