Not a huge Russell fan but I was relatively impressed with his game against the Crows and I would have been absolutely rapt had he nailed a few goals. Again, simple case of poor diposal and poor decision-making (wrong options) costing us the game - the bad umpiring was merely a sideshow.
Grigg and Pfeiffer could be dropped, but seeing we could have four out due to injury (Thornton, Hartlett, Browne and Cloke) they both may get one more chance - four changes to a team in one week is about the limit. Setanta should come back in (we need his passion and aggression at the very least and we can use him as a wildcard up forward or down back), Edwards should come back in, Hampson (Aisake if Hampson is injured) and either Armfield or Jackson.
Lynch, Kennedy, Mckinley and Jones all looked really good (big strong and powerful forwards)
So, i think this is the only area the wce could trouble us........hopefully though, our mids dominate and cut the supply off
Lynch and Kennedy played way up the ground most of the match. The danger would be Mckin and Jones primarily if they play the same set up they did last night.

Wouldn't be a bad thing if Hammer came in, he wasn't bad today in his first game back from injury, was named in the best.
Having said that Cloke has been very good so far this season and it'd be a shame if he is injured.

Setanta has to come in on the big ground at Subiaco, we need a match up for lynch, jones or kennedy which he could do for us and then run off them.

The Blues have some injury concerns of their own, with defender Bret Thornton out for six weeks with a grade two medial ligament strain.
And young tall forward Adam Hartlett is expected to be out for at least two weeks with a hamstring strain.

Ackland was in the best players for the bullants. He showed glimpses last year, and if his form warrants it (and it does more than O'Hailpin at this point) I think if Cloke is out, he might get the gig. Neither Kreuzer or Hampson has shown they have the body to go significant amounts of time in the ruck at this point in their careers, especially with Hampson nursing an injury. We might bring back Hampson and Ackland, and play Kreuzer up forward to cover for Hartlett's injury. Don't really see how it works any other way, to be honest.

hackland... NO WAY! id rather ruck jacobs... or even stevie browne over hackland!
Ackland showed glimpses last year, even though his confidence was completely shot. If he's playing good footy in the reserves, I think he has to get a game. We simply can't afford to run Kreuzer and Hampson into the ground at this stage in their careers, and O'hAilpin is drastically out of form and not really in a position to play in the ruck.
Honestly, I think Carlton supporters need to get behind Ackland and give him full support at this point. He may be the only option we have, and its not going to help if he goes out there thinking everyone expects him to fail. Sure, he had a bad year last year, but if he's up and about now then lets at least give him a chance. We're still paying him FFS - lets at least give him a chance to earn his keep. At the very least, he might be able to run through Darren Glass early in the game or something to give us a chance at winning...

I wouldn't bring in Hammer if he's just coming back from injury - we can't afford to mismanage him.
Ackland should never get another game for the Blues but we may not have much of a choice.

Wiggins, Jackson and Armfield all injured today in the reserves. Armfield a hamstring, Jackson a broken hand, and not sure what happened to Wiggo.

No way Austin, he has shown nothing at all anywhere including the training track.
What has Edwards done wrong? I thought he showed some poise in the first 2 games this season and i thought he looked the goods in the pre-season game verse the Bulldogs. Now that Hartlett is out i would have thought Edwards would be given another run.
And if Hampson is fit enough to play, and it sounds like he is then he's gotta get a game. Just play Hampson and Kreuzer if Cloke is out, forget Ackland.

Edwards hasn't shown enough in the twos to get a call up. Needs to earn his spot in the seniors like Hartlett.
Hampson just returned from injury and needs a bit of time in the twos to get his fitness back and earn his spot.
Believe it or not Ackland played a great game on the weekend and will deserve the recall he's going to get this week.
