I am happy to be corrected here Iron but I think Acu was having a go at me and with that I thoroughly enjoyed my whipping.
If you keep mentioning him (Bob Dole style), it may even push it higher.

A broader 'why AFL journalism absolutely stinks' thread might work better (hell, we probably already have one) but I'm not too fussed if this seems petty. He has a strong public profile and earns a good wage for spouting absolute rubbish week after week so as far as I'm concerned he's fair game as long as you're speaking about him professionally (i.e, not just saying he's a shit bloke).
The nepotism and boys club mindset makes AFL journalism essentially useless bar a select few who deserve all the plaudits they get. People can have a laugh at the idea of young blokes wanting to get journalism degrees but for people who it's an actual passion for having to read rehashes of other outlet's articles and ad nauseum discussion of issues that have no new information to present would be bloody deflating.
But tbh talking about Barrett in a negative sense isn't going to help much apart from getting a bit off of the chest, I'd suggest he's well aware that clickbait headlines and no substance pieces that rile people up are the reason he's successful in the career sense.

Dyed his hair and didn't get the rinse right...turned up to do his piece on triple M......Brayshaw, Lyon, Dunstall & Frawley all got stuck into him think it was Frawley asked him if he was supporting Freo just couldn't work out why he would want to dye his hair purple
Now, if we had a thread on Greg Denham that would be something to throw our empty cans at.
I used to feel this way about music. Seeing artists go platinum many times over when their music had zero substance and soul over other artists who had heartfelt soulful music getting no recognition. The world is full of mindless drones who happily eat up whatever is served to them because it's easier than having to think for themselves.
