What is it with this guy? Has loads of talent but can't help himself when it comes to common sense.
Lucky to be in the team due to previous indiscretions and continues to rock the boat by pushing his own agenda, his decision to wear a T shirt into the ring displaying the aboriginal flag was nothing short of stupid. One has to wonder why he wasn't prevented from doing so by the Australian officials in attendance, he obviously has a chip on his shoulder and if he keeps dropping his hands like he did yesterday one of his opponents, possibly the next one, will knock it and his head right off.

change a few words here or there and you could be describing Casius Clay around the time he won his olympic gold.

He used to drop his hands hey, dropped alot more than that.

What he did with that shirt I for one support, he was in england for christ sake, sooner or later they gotta be accountable for what went against his people.

the difference is Cassius actually had talent. This guy ain't going to win gold, so why act like a goose?

Over reaction like always, he's an indigenous Australian, so he has the right to wear that shirt/flag if he wants to.

Wish him the best, he looked strong last night.

Wrong. Ranked no 2 so he has talent.

Only at the Commonwealth Games and World Champs. Not at the Olympics unless he seeks permission.
Wish him the best, he looked strong last night.
He did finish strong. Fingers crossed.

They use to say similar shit about cassius.
There were comments doubting that Clay would win the gold medal and some inferring that he was lucky to have the opportunity after his bout against Madigan but I don't recall any comments about him acting like a goose. In fact he was probably the most popular athlete in the village.

Sadly no. He competes at the Olympics subject to the Olympic Charter. That says pretty clearly that unofficial flags and uniforms are not allowed.

So they accept money from mcdonalds and that, allow there logo's everywhere promoting food that has no nutrional value and an envoiremmental vandal, but this guy can't fly his logo?

oh and Cassius was so much a goose you'd figure he was born on a farm

I haven't seen a single commercial sponsor's sign at the venues apart from this London ZOIZ sign. I have no idea who ZOIZ are.

Genocides old school, we're up to wiping out planets now...what would the word for that be? ruining every religon /culture, not just singling one or two out at a time?

McDonalds is irrelevant. Athletes can't wear unofficial flags or non uniform tops. It's pretty simple and clear cut.

Clearly you have an issue with McDonalds, why don't you start up a separate thread where you vent your spleen instead of making a goose of yourself on this one.

Good for him, he is indigenous and he is wearing it proud. To hell with the governing bodies and their rules. Its all about corporate gain anyway, you can understand the establishments not supporting it, but at least the public should show empathy. The best place this kid could have made a statement was at the olympic games, and thats exactly what he has done. Nicely done.

That's why the Welsh, English, Scottish and Northern Irish competitors aren't allowed to display thier flags (or wear similar t-shirts to what Hooper did) in the olympic arena for these games (they are competitiors for Great Britain, and not the home nations), and this should apply to Damien Hooper also, because even though he is an ambassador for Indigenous People, he is representing the Australian Olympic Team.

I don't have a major problem with what he did perse, I think he could've been a bit more subtle about it (Cameron Hammond had what looked like a temporary Tattoo on his shoulder blade when he competed yesterday, which could be clearly seen on the TV), I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and shitcan the guy, (it was his call and he was prepared to live by the consequences of his actions), I think he's done a great job so far, and he like Cameron Hammond are doing really well and I'm looking forward to see both have a shot at gold

A tad disappointing last night I thought, lost the plot in the third round. Got a feeling that Hooper will have some trouble with the Russian on Sunday, hopefully he'll stay composed and not get sucked into a slugfest.

Did a lot for sport and in particular amateur boxing, called a spade a spade that's for sure.

Hammond was beaten because of a lack of experience against the Canadian but Hooper was just beaten by a better fighter, Jai Opeitaia looks like he has a future in the sport and I think that he should have a shot at Rio in 4 years time (he'll still be only 21) because although he was beaten by the Uzbek by 5 points in his 1st round, I think that he didn't deserve to lose by that many (even the BBC commentators including Lennox Lewis thought so and he did win a gold for Canada at Seoul)
