one of the best things about footy is that there is an element of luck.

1.We play with an oval shaped ball that can bounce every which
way

2.We play on an oval shaped ground

3.A team can beat any other team on any given day

4. On the same day at the same time Brisbane can play in hot dry conditions in QLD while Essendon can play in pouring rain in VIC

Even your beloved soccer has its lucky breaks
At the end of a final if the scores are tied then they have a penalty shootout. Isnt this the same as the finals ...A whole new competition to decide the winner????
At least if the AFL GF is tied we come back and try to re-inact the same conditions of the match.

Don't try and change the game even more
We aren't gonna go back to our old system either no matter how loud we yell.
The best we can hope for is for the game to stay the same

The way the premiership is decided has got nothing to do with "the game". It's not changing how the game is played, i.e. how long you kick the ball, flooding etc. Thus, you can't argue that "Dan's" system is changing the game. It's changing the competition structure but not the game itself.

It all boils down to recognising the best tam of theyear. It's really as simple as that. Anyone will still be capable of winning the GF as per usual.
