Dan26 - a new finals format

As an AFL scheduling enthusiast I thought I'd get your views on what I believe is most appropriate finals format - for this season at least.

Everyone can do what they want for the next 20 weeks and then Essendon and Brisbane play in the grand final.

Might cut to the chase and stop everyone else wasting their time?

Seriously - is anyone going to get close to these 2 sides this year? I know it's only round 2 but jeez!! Enough with the floggings you two!

I know, essendon will go 20-2 and 22-0.

But i honestly believe that essendon would have won against brissie last year in the gf last year if they had a full strength team.

Too early to say. Both clubs would have to get through a knockout Preliminary Final. The two best teams don't always play off in the Granny because 2 hours of football on Preliminary Final day can override the 46 hours of footy before that.

If I had my way I'd increase the number of finals games from 9 to 176. I'd have all 16 teams involved in a 22 weeks finals series, where top spot wins. Anyone who loves finals should like that, because it makes every game a final, and every game has a DIRECT affect on the premiership.

Have the kncokout stuff after that.
