You mean by constantly turning the ball over by kicking to the opposition then getting credited with votes based of stats.

It isn't when you include 1..2 handballs or short 20 meter kicks. Anything over 20 meters is generally turned over. Even the most one eyed of Pies supporters would realise this, although they can't seem to admit it.

Gut runner....it ends there though.
I suppose the umpires know nothing along with the rest of the people watching football who have given him numerous awards in recent years.

You do realise Bucks has been coaching since 2012?

He probably should have been tagged seeing how he has destroyed teams for the past 5 years.

And his disposal actually isn't that bad, just blown out of proportion by the stupid disposal efficiency stat, which doesn't take into account kicks that hit the deck.
He also hurriedly kicks out of packs, and gains metres which aren't counted as an "effective kicks"

Geelong Vs Collingwood isnt big?
Read what I wrote around that bit that you quoted.

The older you get, the harder it is to just hit the ground running.

Swanny's a champion but he is definitely carrying something. He's spent time forward because of it but has been playing at a decent enough level to still warrant selection. I'm not overly concerned because he's generally had slower starts to the year and destroys it in the second half. Hoping again that this will be the case in 2014 & he has enough runs on the board for the team to keep the faith with him. I'm certainly not writing him off & think anyone that does is bit silly. Time will tell.

I'm not sure he's a 'slow starter', that sounds like a convenient excuse. He's averaged 33 possessions a game for the first month of the season the last few years, be good to see him get of to a flyer then.

More likely injured.

Looked alright when he chased yesterday for a tackle. Maybe he's not fit?

Rotation cap would hurt him as well, can't run as hard as he has been able too in the past.

Age, injuries, younger mids taking minutes in the midfield.

Swannys form will probably fizzle away and he will retire at the end of his contract.

Has been an absolute star for years now. Deserves his brownlow and stiff not to have 2. Champion player who gets the best out of himself.

Slower starts meaning his second halves have generally been more productive than the first. Definitely looks to be carrying an injury. Remembering back to the last time people were vocal about him in the media and the like was a couple of years ago. Everyone thought he looked fat and slow. He then came out and had 42 touches 3 goals and 12 clearances on ANZAC Day.. one of the best individual performances I've ever seen. As I said earlier, I'm not writing him off.

I guess kicking 20 goals+ (32 in 2011) for the last 6 years is useless? Wins his fair share of contested ball, was his own little duck-like explosive from clearances for a long time, ran harder than anyone to get to the boundary which was huge for Collingwoods game plan 2008-2011ish always presenting, performed in finals (where he couldn't get Brownlow votes but still often received plaudits from all forms)...

Gun player. You're showing you clearly didn't watch him all that much, or concentrate on the negatives because he tore your team up a couple of times. Don't worry though, people were still bagging Ablett in the gameday thread because he made a few clangers. You're not alone.

Good post... Swanny turning the ball over is a popular opinion to have apparently and it's a bit unfair. Averages less than 3 clangers per game over his career despite getting more of the ball than pretty much everyone else in the league. He's not a great kick of the footy like Pendles is for example, but he more than makes up for it in other areas of the game.

No denying been a wonderful player for Collingwood over the years but he seems the shadow of the player he was only a year ago.

Is he injured or age catching up with him?
I think he must be injured. Either that or it is the fastest fall of an A-grade player I've seen. I always thought that, on account of his rubbish skills, when he lost his athleticism it would be quick but I didnt think it would be this quick.

His form slump is probably a tad exaggerated on here.

Playing predominately as a forward in the three games with stints in the middle and averaging 22 possessions, 4 inside 50s and 4 rebounds from 50. I'd hardly say his career is over. If 22 possessions a game is alarming, then clearly some clowns on here are wrong, and he is obviously one of the games best in a form slump.

As others have said, give him a couple of weeks and he'll get going. I hope someone calls him overweight prior to ANZAC day ;)

He's never been a good kick as he's left handed and right footed and has thus got a two handed ball drop from his waist. His kicking is always crap early in the year and generally becomes acceptable later on in the year. Despite average kicking, he's one of the best players to ever wear the black and white and will be playing 3 vote games before too long.

Agree with the first part of your last sentence. Unsure about second part

Good on the OP for owning up to this one.

Swan was beyond huge today. Best individual effort I've seen this year.
