He's not injured. He's always paid his opponent no respect, and he's always had poor footskills. As overrated as they come.

Roaming around aimlessly gathering cheap disposals is no longer an option in todays game and he's been left wanting.

You must be feeling awful right now.

Gun. As Tim Watson mentioned on the broadcast he was the game breaker. Admittedly he had a slow start to the season but he was absolutely superb today and you can trust him to tear apart Carlton on Friday.

What a champion.

Funny how he doesn't seem to care about footy all that much, but when he sets foot on the ground he is as competitive as any other player I've seen.

Absolute jet who has gotten everything out of himself.

I rate Swan very highly but the above bold is absurdly untrue.

Everyone at Collingwood including himself and Buckley acknowledge that he is a poor trainer.

On another note - Was magnificent today. Whilst most of the players on the ground lacked that finishing touch, Swan had it in spades.

Great spatial awareness as well, to know that he can accelerate that extra 10 metres from a contest, pack, or chaser and kick a goal.

No it's not. The bloke is a workhorse and works hard on his game.

If he was a poor trainer he wouldn't be so explosive and so bloody fit.

I hear that he's average in the group sessions and normal training but is a machine when he is on his own. Makes the altitude room his own.

I'd say he reached his ceiling in his career. Unlucky not to have 2 Brownlows.

What you say isn't true. However, even if it was true and he was 'average in the group sessions', it still means he hasn't got everything out of himself. It's that simple.

Hate it when people say that "he doesn't care about footy".

Obviously he loves it as he has gotten everything he could out of his career so far. Just because he is a laid back sort of bloke doesn't mean that he doesn't care....

Someone called him fat before today...

Be interesting to find out if he was/is still under an injury cloud. He was definitely un-Swan like in a couple of games earlier on.

People have always been quick to jump on Swan though

But on the flip side if he took an Ablett-like approach to his footy, who is 100% committed in everything, it might burn Swan out much more easy. Perhaps his relaxed approach to training in general and carefree attitude is the way for Swan to get the best out of himself?

Brownlow, AAs, B&F's, premiership and still being BOG in big games at 30 years old, I dare say he has got very close to the best out of himself.

Sorry, I should have clarified. The perception is that he doesn't care, but once he gets on the field it's clear he does care.

What I'm saying is true. It's from people that have trained with him.

Do you really think he could have achieved more than what he already has? Please.

Everyone you hear talk about him says how competitive he is but his apparent laconic nature appears to go against him. According to the knowledgeable BF brethren mostly.

I don't think people mean it as he has no emotional reaction to his performance or his teams performance, he would want to win just as much, wants to earn the respect of his teammates etc just like all players do, at any level.

But there's Nick Riewoldt/Gary Ablett type 'professionalism' who wear their heart on their sleeve when it comes to all things football, not nearly as laidback (at least that's the impression they give off), and then there's a knockabout bloke like Dane Swan who is clearly a different personality & different levels of 'professionalism' to Riewoldt/Ablett/Boyd/Hayes type guys.

True dat. Roll out a couple awards to refute an argument that was never made. Yeehah cowboy

Lol. Just because he doesn't fit your definition of what constitutes 'got the best out of himself' doesn't mean he hasn't. He has awards and performances even after some fairly serious injuries/surgeries that back up he knows just what he needs to do to get the best out of himself. It's not "that simple" as you said earlier.

That's completely different to saying "Dane Swan doesn't care about footy"..
