Sorry if there has already been a thread on this but i was thinking of getting Swan in DT this week and i was wondering if Swan will start to get tagged after a couple of BOG in the last few weeks ?

I've had Dane Swan in my team since the start of last year. He's consistently good. I can't see that he'll start getting tagged either, because he tends to go under the radar a lot, even when he is one of the leading possession getters on the ground. Other teams seem unable to keep a man on him at all, because he constantly finds the ball in 40 metres of space in all directions, lol.

So if you can afford him, basically what I'm saying is, get him.

His numbers have been the same for the best part of two years now.....absolute gun.

Will never get the recognition of the other elite midfielders in the competition because he looks so ungainly with his run and kicking styles.

Don't worry about tags......he surely is not under the guard of opposition coaches.....just doesn't get media fanfare.

i find that for argument sake opposition sides dun find him damaging. so they basically say if swan isnt gonna man up on his opponent then we'll let swan get 30 possies but so will his opponent. i noticed it against freo wen haselby got 35 and swan got 36. they basically just decided. these 2 players are both gonna run free and so they are gonna get the pil a lot & its just a matter of who uses it more effectively, particuraly on the rebound.

Hawthorn had to contain him. That may have been Alistair Clarkson's plan at the start of the match, but he kept running and he finished up with 30 touches. He is an out and out superstar.

Andrew put it this way - he will be my captain this week instead of Bartel / Bruce / West

Ive seen him get tagged and still get plenty of it. If I was coaching against the pies he is the first bloke I would tag. Clearly our best mid know IMO. Gets in the right spots and uses it pretty well this days. I will cope with tags. He is good in traffic and one on one and is one of the best overhead for his size on the comp meaning he can win plenty of contested footy.

Is now a deadset gun IMO

hope this doesnt get construed the wrong way,

but Swan will never get tagged by the opposition. his style is not suited to tagging. he isnt the sort that gets alot of hardball, rather, tends to drift into space and roam around a central -CHB position. almost all his posessions are uncontested.

If you are looking at potential tag targets, it baffles me why Pendles doesnt get more attention. the guy is an absolute gun around the fringes (and all over the park). if i was opposition coach he would be the first i tagged

Not a smart move. Its going to be wet. And plenty of rebounding action and stray kicks into the Pies backline so Ive named Heath Shaw as captain.

Will be disappointed with anything less then 100 points from Heater.

what are you on about dude - he scored 109 in the wet against Port.

Except that he DOES get the #1 tag pretty much every week, and is surprisingly dangerous around stoppages.

I had Chad Cornes, and Nickelass had Paul Chapman... bastard!

Luckily, I also have Dale and Heater. :)

Top call!! Almost BOG for Swanny!

BTW, Im talking about SC, Tarks

Thanks mate. I made that call based on a few more observations other than the game against port. Heater did alright for you as a captain, and your logic for selecting him made sense - but Dane loves playing coming off the bench, when everyone else is buggered. ;) He also isnt bad in the wet.

btw i was talking about DT... cant stand SC
