Great callI think Didak could easily become that Akermanis type player for our midfield. He has very good speed and excellent accelleration (watch those games where he's has a run in the midfield and he scoops up a ball hitting the deck and runs away with it) and he knows how to kick a goal. He is also quite detirmined and puts in alot of 2nd and 3rd efforts so he won't be found out on his defensive game. He probably just needs to learn how to play the contested ball a bit better.

Can't recall any Pies fan predicting Swanny would turn into the star he is now so no shame in those early calls. Even he admits he was lucky not to be cut.
Then: He was lazy and ran like a car with square wheels (still does). Not exactly the qualities you look for in a young player.
Now: Swanny having 25 touches means that he's had a shocker.![]()
To be fair, understudy always had big wraps on him
Will Gayfer was a CHB/CHF type that was massively overrated before the 2003 draft. He didn't get picked up in the draft that year, and don't think he ever made it to any AFL club(?).The perfect example of give kids time and not make rash decisions too, early on.
Definitely 2006, although it was 2005 that we finally got to see a bit off what Swanny could do (that run down on Watson and goal on Hird for example). But yeah, 2006 was when Swanny started to rack up the disposals and have bigger impacts on game.Does anyone remember which was his break through year?
who the hell is this gayfer that everyone was so keen on
