He hasn't been concussed due to his attack on the ball.. Yet. As the above poster mentioned the only time he's been seriously hit was from Ryder in Rnd 11 from memory.

From memory didn't he get knocked out in the all stars game last pre-season and I think he also copped a heavy knock against Geelong at skilled last year.

Chris has the runs on the board over me in terms of footy knowledge :o

I wouldn't be so sure.

Wasn't there another one against the Saints? Or I might be thinking of the Ryder incident - both under the roof at the Dome so it's easy to get confused. I'm not keen on the helmet idea - based on my (purely empirical) observations, guys who wear helmets often have trouble with their kicking, particularly at goals. I've often wondered whether it affects their vision/balance. Or maybe the players who wear helmets are usually the more inside players who don't have the best footskills to start with?

Speaking of which, does anyone give any credence to McDermott's idea of restricting Danger's time in the middle and using him as a burst player to protect him?

It seems to me that McDermott is making a mountain out of a molehill from a single incident, since there was only one time he was really badly knocked in the head, but I Chris has the runs on the board over me in terms of footy knowledge :o
Its not just one incident. He got hit in the head a few times and had quite a few near misses. Its a legitimate concern that Danger will need to learn to protect himself a bit better. You don't want him to reign in his style, but you want him to learn to protect himself a bit better.

Personally, I wouldn't be on board with McDermott on this issue, at least not until a few rounds into the year. The only way Danger will learn is if he is in around the action and the best way for him to do that is play in the midfield.

If by say rounds 5-7 it becomes clear that he hasn't learned, then their idea has some merit. Mind you I would be more intrigued by placing Danger at HBF and let him run straight at the ball and run through the lines. Don't get me wrong, he is a gun forward but we have so many forwards that need more games and he would be around the action a bit more around HBF.
