Btw of course we haven't 'offered' him a contract , we aren't allowed to because he is contracted but it sounds to me as if we are in talks already

However if it's 2 top 5 picks involved then I expect Adelaide's first back in return or a Lyons etc as steak knives

The disappointment coming is of your own making then NG

I'm not sitting here getting dangerfield into the back of my jumper but it appears we are going to atleast have a crack, hell it's probably just a message to other clubs that we are willing to do some serious trading

Either way I feel as if we are going to be very active again in trade week

Even with their first we're being too kind. Lyons on the other hand is insulting - he won't get a contract renewal at Adelaide, period.

3 and 20 I can handle if it's required to get it over the line but not 2 and 3 unless they are willing to throw in Lynch or Jenkins which won't happen.

Why would he be disapoointed about landing Dangerfield?

I think it's the landing Dangerfield part which some of us are skeptical on. I'll believe it if and when it happens.

I think Adelaide saw what happened with Buddy Franklin and have realized that losing him as a FA would be devastating, would he actually want to play for us? Probably not but will just point out how well Mitch Clark did at Melbourne and I'm sure he will be Falling over himself to sign

Btw DEZ you should change your name to Dezils advocate

I get the principle, but I think the boards of clubs will still be loathe to trade out big name players. Dangerfield is probably the Crows most popular and marketable player and a key component of their side. If they offload him this year for say #3 and #20 ish instead of getting #10 or so next season, are they going to have riots from Adelaide fans after sacking their coach, pawning off their best player and dropping down the pecking order on the ladder? You'd want to be absolutely confident that the bloke is gone before you make the deal. I get that they're better off taking a deal this trade period and getting closer to his actual value, but are you willing to have that conversation with a thousand toothless screaming Adelaide supporters at the next AGM?

Oh I'm clearly looking at it with the darkest of red an blue glasses on

It would be like if someone came to us this year offering to trade for jones by pointing out we could lose him for nothing next year , I'd be filthy

They are in the shit spot of having sloane an tex coming out of contract as well , Maybe they figure they lose 1 to keep 2 and danger is the one they can squirrel the most value out of

If we are dumb enough to put 2-3 on the table then Adelaide would be stupid not to jump

Actually **** it. 2+3 for Dangerfield. He's only 24. He's top 5 in the league. He's absolutely worth that. We're a club with enough kids. We don't need more. It's time we got a big fish. A real star player. Someone to draw people through the gates.

It's Danger Time.

What about 2 and 3 for Danger and their first pick?
Probably not personally.

Those two picks are too valuable to blow on one player. That pick 2 could net us Shiel in a trade or a gun mid in the draft. This luxury is very rare.

2, 3 & our third rounder (40ish) for Danger, Jenkins & Adelaide's first possibly I would entertain.

We still need at least 2 decent picks for the draft if Jetta is promoted to the senior list.

Imagine next year we're rolling with a midfield of Danger, Tyson, Viney and Jones. With Malceski and Lumumba coming off half back.

There's your culture fixed.

I kinda like the idea that Roosy's comments are final absolute proof to the world that he's really bought into MFC and he's one of us and that he's trolling the media with deluded magical ideas for us fans to be excited about next year. :D Just like we do!

Plus Vince and Cross. I don't think the above is much chance of happening, but if it did, 6/8 of them wouldn't have been at the club in 2013.

Not sure we'll be getting Malceski though. I think he's staying...
Also if we get Malco we get no compensation for Frawley.

But let's not let facts get in the way here.

Unfortunately not rare enough for us.....

Not sure we would have to trade both pick 2 and 3, only St Kilda have a better pick than us, the only thing we need to do is get Dangerfield to want to come to us and the ball is in court. Pick 2 and either Toumpas or pick 23 and Tapscott as a sweetener if they want him

Danger is a top 5-8 mid with another 6-8 years to go, with potential to be the Number 1 player in the league. Factor in instant marketability for the Dees, and perhaps captaincy...plus the fact that Dangerfield could likely be the best player to play for Melbourne since Flower. I don't think that 2 top 5 picks is excessive...and at least not in the minds of Roos and Jackson, who will be keen for members to re-sign after a disappointing end to 2014.

Having Danger in the team is also likely to help with drawing (good) players from other teams to the Dees. A big fish needs to be landed one day, why not now?

Doubt that Shiel would be traded for pick 2 alone, Melbourne would have to offer more than that. Melbourne needs results now, another season with young kids and 4 wins could be catastrophic on a survival basis.
