It should've been 2 x firsts, there's no argument.

Would've given us Milera in 2015 plus pick 17 in 2016.

Could've then given 15 (Galluci) and 17 for Gibbs in 2016 who would've slotted immediately into Dangerfield's position in 2017 and we may well have a 3rd flag now.

Or he might've shat the bed like everyone else at the G, who knows. But we didn't give our self the best possible chance.

That was some very ordinary trading. Almost player first over club.

There were being too nice to Danger they didn't with Lever and we won there

if those trades didn't need to be rubber stamped by the top Ill be very surprised
It was clearly Noble's doing.

Noble and Dangerfield famously met for a coffee every week. How many players and admin staff do this?

Noble was the first person Dangerfield came clean to about his plans to leave (at one of their weekly coffee meets).

Noble laid out the red carpet for his mate to get to where he wanted to be.

The danger trade would have involved everyone, if you were CEO you would have made sure of that

The midfield. He's the best midfielder in the competition. Saying Sloane and Crouch wouldn't contend because Dangerfield is in there with them is really not saying much about those two players. You do remember Sloane playing in the same midfield as Dangerfield?

Your confirmation bias is working a number on you. I'd love it if we traded Dangerfield out and what you're saying is true, but it just isn't, having him in our side would increase our chances of a Premiership.
Yep what happened without Danger? Sloane gets tagged out of it. Wouldn’t have happened with Dangerfield running amok....... Probably.

Just a thought here but say if Gore and pick 53 wouldn't have been in the equation, would you then look at the deal today as "you win some you lose some" as in we took a punt and hey, just didn't come off in regards to putting pick 28 and a player we weren't going to use to try and upgrade into X factor

I doubt the Gore for 53 part makes much of a difference.

Dangerfield for a 1st and a 2nd is puss.

Milera's career has just begun. He's shaping as a gun. Can't really judge this trade until we see how he turns out. Did we win it or lose it? As someone else said, at least Milera can kick.
That’s entirely and completely wrong.

If you $10 for a $2 scratch card, you still got burnt regardless of whether the card wins or loses

No one would have traded Danger for pick 11.

That’s the only criteria to use, not some fakery invented after the fact

You’d be right, but unless those guys are sitting in on th3 negotiation, they’re 100% reliant on Noble providing them the feel. Noble is simply a very poor negotiator when it comes to selling talent.

Probably the most disappointing aspect of the trade....Dean Gore was not even close to SANFL standard let alone AFL standard.
That was some snake oil trading there by Geelong. I think Gore being a South Australian and the fact we were suffering from the go home factor gave Geelong an opportunity to clean out their cupboard.

Perhaps in the haste to complete the deal Noble didn't research Gore properly.

Gore was pure spin by the AFC.

He was mediocre, anyone who looked beneath their bullshit knew that - it was purely an attempt at arse covering to try and disguise the fact that we got absolutely shafted.

Milera is looking good; if he wins a Brownlow (ie - the best player in the comp); then we can revisit this discussion.

That said, even if he does, we still got absolutely shafted in that trade; you don't trade a guy in the top 3 of the comp that cheaply, based on a speculative draft pick.

Noble’s strategy to muddy the waters by including Gore in the deal continues to pay dividends to this very day.
The water has never been muddy with this deal. People just didn't engage their brains and thought a name meant more then just a complimentary set of steak knives.

As much as Gore looked somewhat promising in his first year (and the Adelaide trade is possibly his sliding doors moment seeing he seemed on a trajectory to being a Geelong regular at that point of time), he was a third rounder who hadn't done anything to increase value. It was safe to disregard.

It looks nice on paper, but equally, it's doesn't mean much as it is comparing apples and oranges just due to playing different positions, and vastly different roles.

Much like how you can't compare a KPD with a KPF.

The same Dean Gore came 3rd in Geelongs reserves BnF in 2015 (his first season). Unfortunately like a lot of players, environment plays a massive role, as well as role. The luck he had with Geelong set up wise, he didn't receive here and failed.

If anything, this may just be a case of Geelongs youth development just being utter puss.

I think Gore was more the project player, whereas Menzel was the one we'd hope would be the player to to blossom a la Betts and Jacobs (all from Carlton and good history of blossoming into our Crows outfit). Alas, for whatever reason, Menzel never really got into first gear with us, and that was a shame.

Geelong has massive injury issues in their VFL side that year - continuity was more of a factor than performance.

The reasons are pretty widely known.

Massive talent, but heart wasn’t in footy - it was with the lads.

It was in 2012 (5th year on list) that Danger increased his disposal count by 50%.
They are different beasts but its important to compare them at the same stage not Milera at 21 and Dangerfield at 25.

What the numbers show is Milera has time on his side to become an absolute gun.
1st 8 games in 2018 he went over 20 disposals once ave 16.6 disposal per game ( he got in one game)
Last 8 games went under 20 disposals once ave 22 disposals per game

Not passionate, I’m correcting your train of thought
I was simply looking at the overall result of the traded players and picks... We used the pick Geelong gave us to get Menzel as well as giving them Kerridge. You are arguing that that part is not relevant and simply said it was as it shows the net result of the transaction
