Dangerfield is a different cat again as when he gets the ball it's usually a contested possession by when he disposes it, it's usually uncontested, such is his speed and power.

Ablett???? He can do everything Danger can do but better.

Ablett is not perfect either, Ablett is classy as all hell, but he does not have the speed or strength of danger. If he did, he would be the best player of all time for the last 100 years.

I am hoping Danger gets some ablett class as he matures.

Cotchin was electric in his first 3 games.

Rd 1 - 33 possies, 6 I50's.
Rd 2 - 31 possies, 7 I50's
Rd 3 - 36 possies, 5 I50's.

Had two solid, but not spectacular games against Freo / Collingwood before having a shocker against Geelong.

IMO he has had better season so far than Danger.

Danger has a long way to go before he can even be compared to either Ablett. They were/are both once in a generation players. Danger has had one breakout season and is yet to be considered the best player at his club over the duration of a season.
 
No question Ablett (either of them for that matter) is ahead of Danger at the moment, but it's not true to say he can do everything Danger can do.

Dangerfield's combination of core strength, pace and acceleration is unparalleled in the game. His ability to break multiple tackles simply through brute strength, and then immediately switch into top gear with blistering pace has never existed at the top level of AFL before.

His game lacks polish in a number of other areas where Ablett has him comfortably beaten, but in that one area his ability is absolutely unique.

So you can't compare two inside/outside midfielders who are both, strong, fast and goal kickers?

Ablett isn't as fast and explosive but he is not far off. Apart from that Ablett leads him in field disposal, goal kicking, agility, composure, smarts, overhead and dare I say ability to break a tackle.

Keep in mind that Gaz has played 238 games to Dangers 95, this comparison may be more relevant in about 5 years or so. As a junior Danger was being rated in the same echelon as Ablett, Ling, Johnathan Brown and Simon Black by his Geelong Falcons coach. Give him time he may end up being a better player than all of them, time will tell

Danger turned 23 a month ago... In the season that Gaz turned 23 he won a flag / was All Australian / Won the Leigh Mathews medal/ Won his clubs best and fairest / won the AFLCA player of the year...

Big shoes for Danger to fill.

But he didn't win a flag on his own, danger was AA last year, could win our B&F this year. Also it is worth considering he doesn't have the team around him that Gaz had in 07 (Enright, Scarlett, Harley, Milburn, Corey, Bartel, Stevie J, Selwood, Chappy, Ling, Kelly), imagine how good he would be in a team of stars

Valid points. Danger was very good. Will have to play a hell of a lot of good footy over the next 7 years to be spoken in the same sentence as either Ablett.

I have kept that in mind. I was simply replying to snook who said he hasn't seen anyone with those attributes in the modern era.

I was just pointing out the same as cmdstab did. Danger is unmatched in the modern era in speed and strength. polish can come with time...

Nope. Dangerfield is so much more explosive and stronger than Ablett. A young Judd is the only one who you can compare Dangerfield to. No one else has ever had the same combination of inside/outside ability before

Ablett is amazing but he has differeant traits to dangerfield
