You may certainly be right. Cause I remember that State of Origin match at the start of the year and when he got going he was outstanding. Thought he actually turned the match Victoria's way singlehandedly. So I don't think he's lost anything.Noticed he spent a bit of time in our goal square on the weekend. Even the commentators where saying “Hawkins is on fire and they’ve moved Patrick to the goal square”? I think he is carrying an injury. I’d love to see him play out of the goal square with Constable replacing him in the midfield... but that ain’t going to happen....
Nah he's been fine. But we're used to him doing everything. Being in our top 3 players every single week.Definitely hasn't been as bad as some of you guys seem to suggest.

I don't care about him; my point is that form fluctuates.[am I the only one here who really does not care about him?]
He'd need to have a poor season to lose his aura and I can't see that happening. He has been poor since the resumption, for a player of his calibre he hasnt shown anything near his best, almost like he is just going through the motions a lot of the time, needs a kick up the ass and to bring some intensity like he used to, he is losing the aura he once had.
Buckley only played around 40 games after the 2003 grand final. Hardly a good portion.Martin just doesn't have the same team to work with at the minute which is why he doesn't look anywhere near as brilliant.
Injuries are hitting Richmond in recent seasons.
It kind of makes me appreciate guys like Simon Black, Nathan Buckley, Matty Richardson even more. They had to spend a good portion of the back of their careers in truly woeful teams and they still starred on a weekly basis without very little dip in their usual brilliance.

Duh. See bracketsI don't care about him; my point is that form fluctuates.
You said back of their careers. That means the latter part.He played in his second ever final when he was 30 years of age.
He carried that team for years in a similar to fashion to Selwood 13-16 but for far longer.

Agree: Remember Ablett was a vital part of all three first half Geelong goals, where we wouldn't have looked like scoring otherwise. Without those, the great second half wouldn't have been forseeable at all.Can we keep this "Danger down on form" guy, along with "struggling Ablett" in our side - both seemed to go ok
Some great posts in this thread. They looked stupid 4 hours ago and now they look a bit worse.

& to be fair he did have a drop in form! He is normally absolutely outstanding every single week.hey, since I posted it he played a ripper game.
probably googles weekly Patrick dangerfield or has himself google tagged for alerts and it fired him up.
give me some credit!
maybe this thread is a lucky charm
