But you see, this chest-beating is what bothers me.

As I said in another post, I actually accept the fact that the Crows want to deal (how you know you can afford to, considering that the length and money is just paper talk at this stage, and you may not be able to match after all). I know that reality is, to get quality (which Danger is) then we have to give something.

But I don't like the tone of some of this, which reeks less of "Adelaide need to protect their interests and get value for a valuable player" and more of "Geelong and Danger can go to hell. Let's screw them, and make up for all the times we got screwed. Let's send Danger to Carlton or Melbourne, and hang him out to dry. That will send the message to anyone else who ever thinks of leaving AFC. HAAAAAAA! HAAAAA! " (evil laugh, twirling a moustache and hand-wringing).

I just hope you are doing this for the right reasons, as getting better compo than the one AFL offered, rather than as an FU to Geelong or a champion who served you so well.
Jesus Chist do you think our club would take even the slightest bit of direction or notice of what we all say here. I bloody hope not. I'm sure it will be very professional and getting pay back for past failures i.e. Tippettgate will not come into it. I hope we're all as upset as each other with the trade because then it may have some element of balance.
Remember he is our best player and one of the top 3/4 in the world of AFL.
He's also averaged 22 games a year over his 7 years playing for us. Which means he's durable adding to his value.

No that's not what I'm asking.

How do you prove there is an illegal agreement if there is no agreement that is legally enforceable?
It would be very difficult to prove, but as I said, it isn't a criminal court, they don't have to prove anything 'beyond all reasonable doubt' or anything like that.

All they need is for an integrity tribunal to be satisfied that there was a dodgy deal in place. A player changing clubs on a very short contract at a very high pay and then signing a further deal at significantly reduced pay that coincidentally brings the total of the two contracts in line with their general market value would fool nobody. If it walks like a dodgy deal and quacks like a dodgy deal...

So, you would have no problem with a deal where the club wins, but the AFC screw Geelong and Danger, then?

Do you want to see a win-win-win situation here, or one where AFC win, and everyone else loses?
To be honest it's AFC first. I am not a member of Patrick Dangerfield or GFC. Fair trade will suffice. We are just concerned about being f&$ked over in this.

The nature of a fan. We love the club more than one player.....and don't care at all about Geelong. I want what is best for the Crows, but think what is best is to strike the most amicable deal with all involved. After all is done, I won't care about Geelong but will always call Danger a Crows legend.
I don't know. Legends are made of different stuff.
Great player yes. Legend, it will not be possible to reach.

So what's this on Friday night football that Melbourne offered Danger $10m over 6 years? Am sure he'd love to get to Geelong, but wouldn't be crying himself to sleep if he happened to end up getting traded to Melbourne...

So 7 are saying a big vic club has offered a 10 mil 6 yr deal to pd! Who is it ? Melbourne?
he has already said he wants to go to Geelong unless he decides to do a Mitch CLark, but Danger doesnt seem like that type of bloke.
One of the reasons he wants to go to Geelong and play is because Costa is gonna help him business wise, which probably wouldnt happen if he doesnt play for geelong.

I still have faith in Smedts but I'm in the minority. Played his best footy in 2013 as a small forward but was shifted to the backline in 2014 for some bizarre reason, since we're crying out for a small forward. He's had a lot of injuries woes including a broken collarbone this season. Perhaps he may feel a fresh start will invigorate him. The talent is certainly there.
I thought he was going to be an absolute gun when he started, but hasn't put it together yet. Poor man's Brodie Smith IMO. The sub rule hasn't helped him (see Grigg and Lyons for us) but IIRC he has had off field issues?

I'd be happy to take him as the steak knives part of the deal as we seriously lack pace.

Fairness would be the 2 1st and a player worth a 2nd round pick.

We should start our claim with 2 1st and Motlop, and then we either drop a 1st or Motlop for Murdoch.

There are plenty of clubs sniffing around who I'm sure could offer Danger a lot more $$$ than Geelong which will easily pay for his fuel costs travelling in to Melbourne, or for rent at a cushy townhouse near training so he doesn't have to commute every day.

Unfortunately if Danger went this way fearing the Crows and Cats are at an impasse then he could accept RFA offer from another club which we can't match. As long as we are confident we can match any deals and Danger def won't stay here then we are in the box seat. Honestly we should get a decent steak knife on top of the 1sts.
I think he only gets one crack at it from what I heard here.

Nah, he wants to get to Geelong (unless he does a Tippett).

Geelong need to put some value on the table as there is no way danger is slipping through to their PSD pick.

This is good news for us, not bad news!
We need a Tongueincheeka font (as well as the long awaited Sarcastica font, of course).
