All of this could have been avoided if Dangerfield was rightly handed the captaincy at the start of the season. The bloke has leadership written all over him with how he performs on the field and is rather media savvy off the field. He would have been perfect. It may have planted the seed for the situation we have today. Much harder to leave a club if you are captain.

I know Griffen will be brought up. The dogs were a basket case when he left, you guys are not, you are on the right track. He would have been a captain that had led his team to a semi against all the odds of what occurred this season. Very hard to walk away from.
Ffs mate, Danger is not even a better captain than Sloane. He is a figjam. And you are clueless. Danger screams watch me, all about me. Tex and Sloane are team first.

I wonder if the ownership of the alma has anything to do with it?
Surely tex and sloane have offered him a bit more percentage to help him stay... I wonder if this conversation has actually happened?

All three are minority stakeholders. If anybody would be offering him more percentage, it'd be Peter Hurley.

I think as much as the playing group loved and respected Danger, I think there was also a bit of dislike towards his showpony attitude at times. Don't get me wrong - he definitely was a leader for the football club, but there has always been a sense that everything he did was ultimately favored towards Danger's own best interests, and not that of the club. Not always the best quality in your captain.

Walsh mentioned when he first entered the club, that only a select few of the players approached him with the mentality of "we need to make this club successful". Tex was the head honcho for this, with Sloane being the next in line. It was alluded to at the time that Danger fell more in the camp of "what do you have to offer me". I think Walsh knew where this was all heading from the moment he met Paddy. Its actually a shame, It's obvious he was always intending to return home. But I honestly think Danger truly grew to respect Walsh and may have possibly considered sticking around to prove him wrong. Either way hes still chosen to walk away from the club at his first opportunity at free agency. I don't think anyone will look back and question the decision of not making him captain.

That and he had a go of it the previous season and didn't set the world on fire.

Very embarrassing that he won the club champion. Club campaigner way more appropriate. Should have gunstoned the award.

Laird should have been the champ (or whoever came second)

Edit : Drunk as ****.

Now given that clubs can request that we undergo full investigation at the drop of a hat, can we ask that the AFL look very very closely into any third party inducements, family employments etc. which Geelong will inevitably be using.

As in similar to the role his dad currently does for the crows in regards to recruitment?

We should have a "Jack Gunston Award" like they have the Razzies for the worst movies.

Just watched Danger's B&F speech... It makes for bitter feelings, but I won't express anything about Danger here that I'll probably regret later. The whole thing sucks. We better get those 2 first round draft picks and a good player to partially make up for this crap. It's like every 1-2 years our club goes through this gut wrenching experience of getting shafted, I'm bloody sick of it.

Says a lot about Dangerfield as a person if he needed the captaincy to stay.

Rory didn't. Just sayin...

You came here to make that comment? I won't bring up Griffen, I'll bring up Chris Judd. You don't know what you're talking about.
