Off the top of my head, lying in August about not having discussed any deal; the Twitter trolling; the game playing; the 5AA fishing etc
The fishing trip takes the cake for me. Him participating in that when he knew there was a likelihood of him leaving, and having a crows fan front up with serious $.

What a FIGJAM!

He was a fantastic player, though his skill errors were infuriating at times.

However, we tolerated his arrogant personality in the media and FIGJAM celebrations. His performances on The Footy Show and the infamous Brownlow shenanigans were cringeworthy indeed.

And now predictably Danger, via his manager, is pushing for us to bend over and take it for a measly compo pick in reward for persevering with him through 4 initial lean years leading into 4 good years.

Acceptable trades are:

- 9 + Motlop or Cockatoo
- 9 + 2016 1st
- 9 + 2nd + a quality young player.

Good trades add a 2nd rounder or at least a swap of this years 2nds to the equation but I'm realistic enough to know we won't get anywhere near a good trade. However, anything less than the above is unacceptable.

Oh, and I've not seen one 'compo combo' that doesn't result in Geelong winning massively and the Crows still losing by a long way.

We are never getting that. Completely unrealistic
Why not?

Pick #9 this year & same again next year if cats finish in the same spot is not unreasonable.

Asking for 2 x top 5 picks isn't going to happen but 2 x top 10 is not out of the question.

Yep, and we should be starting higher than that!

I think because Geelong started their offer of nothing (compo pick 14 or let him walk into the draft) as their starting points, the Crows couldn't go any higher than satisfactory (2 first rounders or 1 first rounder + player, which turns out to be Murdoch) with their asking price.

Their offer of nothing is null and void if we match.

Did Collingwood start at nothing for Treloar?

I hate hearing '8 loyal years service'

he still lived in Moggs Creek for his first year!
Exactly, then we had a further 3 years waiting for him to be fit enough, get enough composure, be educated on running patterns and how to get more than 12-15 possessions.

Essentially he gave us 4 years of good service.

Geelong signed up all their players so they would have nothing left to trade to the Crows. They knew they were likely need to satisfy the Crows in a trade. Like when all Collingwood could get out of the Beams trade was pick 5, 25 and a Crisp. Although, pick 5 is probably worth 2 mid-range first rounders. Thank goodness the AFL allowed trading of future draft picks, because otherwise, we'd probably have to use that compo pick and trade for their first rounder.

add the "Well Franklin left for pick 19 and Hawthorn have won the next two premierships"
I feel like anyone that brings up this point knows nothing about football, because Hawthorn would've matched and forced a trade, until it was revealed to be a 9-year deal.

Players under contract can be traded, and in any case uncontracted players cannot be forced to be traded so the fact they've signed up players means nothing.

We are not gonna take a spud with no value like GHS just cos he's the only one uncontracted.

If Geelong don't want to play fair, the drafts await.

Yes they could. That's how negotiation tactics work. Well they do when I'm dealing with unions. They say something ridiculous, you say something ridiculous. If you counter with something reasonable they'll want to meet in the middle and if you don't budge they start saying you're not willing to negotiate, won't compromise, inflexible, this isn't a good faith negotiation etc.

I hate playing that "game" but if you don't you get shafted.

We needed to counter with 3 first round picks or get ******. I hope we did.

Maybe even this years first, next years first, Murdoch and a second rounder. It sounds ludicrous but that's how this shit works.
