A problem there though in that the club has been in conversation with the AFL about Danger and compo and trade options. If Geelong try this with the AFL knowing that information, will the AFL approve it or go back to Geelong and ask them some questions? It would be a very bad look for the AFL for that to happen. I can see the AFL questioning Geelong if they have made an offer to Danger and knowing that the Crows are likely to match and a trade has to then occur.
This is all reeking of amatuer hour from Geelong, but as always it'll be the big bad Crows for stifling Geelong's plans.

I find the lack of accountability in the Victorian media regards to Geelong's low offer laughable, it's so typical of the Vic-centric mentality.

Sounds like the cats have promised pick 9 to carlton for Henderson. Here's a prediction, before Dangerfield has even officially accepted Geelong's offer they will trade 9 to carlton and make it impossible for us to get 2 first round picks out of them.

PD is going into the PSD.
Andrew Mackay must be delusional.

Surely it's in a team like Brisbane's best interest for us to improve our trade currency, if they have South Australians who have decided to leave (as suspected). Should we not be sending a journalist their way for a 'we'd consider taking Dangerfield if he were to nominate for the PSD' soundbite?

Can someone send this to him? http://www.aflplayers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/2013-Free-Agency-Infograhpic.pdf

As a former player he should have access to it and as a List Manager he might want to have a look at the actual rules.:confused:
The level of ignorance within the industry and media about free agency is palpable.

As a fan of American sport I am accustomed to their system where matching RFA offers is common place as it will be in the AFL once the precedent is set and people actually learn the system.

You do realise that it was Adelaide that lead the charge to get Paul Little to pull his head in last year? It was actually Chapman that called the meeting with two other AFL Chairmen and it was those three that scared Little so much that he didn't turn up to the Chairs meeting at the AFL. Fagan got an apology from Xavier Campbell for not abiding by the gentleman's agreement and we then got it out there in the media? Fagan was the one who did the majority work in changing the agreement with the SMA? Yeah, we just bend over time and again apparently. Except this past year when we haven't.
12 months don't make 10 years worth of bending over better does it?

Apparently Zac Smith is about to nominate Geelong or Essendon. Surely you'd have to be nuts to nominate Geelong, they have no chance of trading.

Who cares about that past? It is THIS administration that matters. If you want to whinge and moan and live in the past, go ahead, but the ones who made those decisions are not around in those positions anymore.

That's because you're thinking emotionally about it, it won't happen because it would be irresponsible management to lose Danger for nothing. The club would only be hurting itself in that instance. As much as Geelong want the addition of Danger, they wouldn't actually be losing anything. Even Stephen Wells said he didn't want Adelaide to get nothing.

I think everyone gets burnt at some point in the draft/trading game, but it's hard to prevent that sometimes. You can't fight it to the extent that you're hurting yourself, you just gotta keep moving forward and take the wins when they come along
When push comes to shove and its decision time what are you going to do

1. Give pick 9 for Danger and secure the services of a top 5 competition player, or

2. Give pick 9 to Carlton for Henderson a struggling KPP and send Danger to PSD

Qe both know what that decision will be

The AFC don't care about the GFC list strategy, pick 9 alone will be an upgrade on pick 14 and in return would have forced Geelong to part with currency for Danger

P.S do you really believe Henderson is worth pick 9 in any case

I don't

So if Geelong give away pick 9 for Henderson , how will they pick up dangerfield in the ND?
A quick look over on the Carlton Board and they all think that pick 19 is what they could get as a better offer than what Geelong are offering. I'm confused. The Carlton Board don't seem to think that pick 9 will be on offer from Geelong while Mackay does!

Lol hell will freeze over before Geelong give a first round pick for Henderson. He is an OK footballer at best.

A lot of deluded Geelong fans are saying Paddy isn't worth two first rounders because he's 25. Well Henderson is older than Paddy and isn't fit to clean Paddy's toilet.

Like Cameron Ling said. You prioritize getting in the best player, which is Dangerfield. You do what it takes to get him then worry about getting anyone else in.

Cause Mackay has his head in the clouds. Like anyone is giving up good first round picks for guys who sucked in the bottom ranked team this year.

And like every other recruiter/list manager from a deluded club he's making big noises before the trade period - nek minut Liam Jones.

I see Andrew Mckay has got into his drugs early this year, normally he only takes his hallucinogenics on draft night. Only way to explain him thinking Henderson is a pick 9 player while thinking Boekhorst and Napoleon Dynamite* look like players worth a top 20 pick.
